    Literally have a 2009 beetle and this exact same thing happened to me today. Autozone makes a kit, it cost $30 and took LITERALLY 30 seconds to snap on

    My jetta wouldn't start after installing the doorman diaphragm, so I switched it back to the original, though it did have a small tear and was filthy. I will be going to the shop this week to see what's going on with the rough idle.

    Same part first purchased for 2010 Jetta 2.5L from local auto supply place and installed. That generated new code P2187 in two days, Found the diaphragm was not seated properly, I found lots of air was leaking and the PCV valve diaphragm was not seated. Press around upper three tabs and found there was a slack but the tabs was seated fine. The lower tabs had no slack on finger press but upper three do. Thought may be the parts cap and diaphragm were defective. Spent another $40 and purchased from Autozone and installed very carefully. This time I was able to open the oil fill cap quick to check PCV when engine was idling. After two day I found the new one failed with the same symptoms. The upper tabs were not holding the tight enough and PCV was leaking air. I stick a temp clamp to hold the cap tight, it was still leaking some but was able to open cap on idle.
    Now I am stuck, what is the problem. Why the all three upper tabs are not holding tight enough. I do not see any damage on tab!!!

      Had exact same issue. Fixed by using upgraded diaphragm by RKX (google them). They make it thicker and side clip tolerance clicks and hold tight and well..

    Hello sir thanks for the video. I just replaced the PCV valve as recommended. However, the old one had no tears or holes in it. Of course it was dirty but nothing that indicated an air leak...I still put the new one in obviously but I'm worried this won't fix my problem. I'm having a problem where my car shakes when idle and sometimes it even dies and I have to restart. I've gotten the code ran at my local VW dealership and they said it needs a new map sensor....but I've been told by longtime mechanics that the throttle just needs to be cleaned out

      Hello John, I would do a smoke test before anything else, if you have a vacuum leak it might effect the MAF sensor too, google how to make your own vacuum pump, it’s not very complicated, 🙏🏻

    during my repair for this, i accidentally screwed up the duct when using the channel locks to loosen the clamps... now i can’t get the clamp to go back up to its locking position. any advice? if it is punctured is that gonna make the problem worse? 😓

    • @hugoscreations
      @hugoscreations  3 роки тому +1

      I usually do it with channel locks but in your case you might want to use the special pliers, you can buy it from Amazon, its not good if its punctured.

    If you have those plastic trim removing tools its better to use when taking off the cap. Harder to break plastic on plastic.

    So if the diaphragm is good and you take oil filler cap off while it's idling, is the motor supposed to surge? And should there be resistance when you take the cap off due to vacuum in the crankcase? Thanks

    • @hugoscreations
      @hugoscreations  2 роки тому

      Hi Sam, the Pcv system is an enclosed system , so if you remove the oil cap that could be as if it had a larger vacuum leak which would make it stall, remember that if you have an engine with worn piston rings it could cause strong blow by, if I was to do an oil cap test I might as well do a vacuum test with a gage at the same time, the closer to 18-22 psi the better 👍🏼

      I believe you are right about the doorman Friend. I replaced mine last year and it is now leaking oil causing my map sensor to be implausible with a P0106 engine code. I notice oil in the intake manifold..so about 400 to 500 miles cleaning the damm map sensor & the intake manifod when the check engine light comes on with a P0106 code
