I agree having a hobby like stamp collection is great. It is like meditation. I take stock cards instead of albums because I also like variants. I like old stamps up to 1950 and I do not try to get every stamp of a country. But I look for beautiful stamps and covers.
Everyone is collecting a bit different, but this doesn´t matter. It brings joy and this is the most important of it.
Great video! I've recently started collecting Netherlands stamps, really enjoying learning more about them. I also love the Davo albums, I have 2 at the moment housing my Isle of Man collection. I may consider getting the Netherlands volume 1 once I've established my collection a little more. I've been fortunate to receive some lovely stamps from my viewers to help the collection grow. Look forward to seeing more of what's inside this album in a future video.
Great building of this new "Nederland"- collection in a fantastic hingeless DAVO album. You are absolutely right that stamp collecting has some relaxing and even therapeutic effects. The front page underneath the coat of arms says in French "Je maintiendrais" which means "I will maintain" and is the motto of the House of Oranje- Nassau. Keep it up, and happy collecting ! Greets from GER, U.
I will maintain... thank you so much for sharing that!!
Love your enthusiasm…I can identify with it
I was planning a similar comment ... great enthusiasm makes great collections! :)
Oh nice! I collect Dutch stamps too, and I live there, so I’m always very excited to see Dutch stamp content. There aren’t that many collectors of these stamps outside of the Netherlands (and maybe Belgium?) , at least that’s the impression I always get.
Замечательный ролик с отличными марками Нидерландов!!!Лайк!!!
Very nice video , I Like the DAVO albums very much , I have four of Finland , they are really nice , hope you can fill yours very soon , so you may get the other ones. You are right collecting stamps gives you time for enjoyment and learning plus the fulfilment of accomplishing the collection , very therapeutic. Congratulations and keep your nice videos coming. Greetings from Mexico
What a wonderful note, thank you so much... and hello from Minnesota! Happy collecting to you
Davo makes stylish albums and I love them too. The only drawback is they're usually simplified and so they don't include every variation of some stamps
Agreed... my best two stamps aren't in the USA album, so I added a couple of clear mounts... they look a bit odd, but wanted them in there. I like the inserts Davo makes too... let's you personalize your book a bit...
I sound like a salesmen... I'm really not... :)
Reminds of the wonderful Chinese film "Eat Drink Man Woman". But extended: eat drink stamps man woman.
I am willing to share a dribble of our heat for a dribble of your snow!! Cheers from Qld, J//
That'd be most welcome... it snowed again last night...
Great video the new Davo looks great, nice collection to place in there by the look of things. It's strange I am looking at adding a Dutch collection to my albums at some point.
I appreciate your patience! I recently obtained a Romania album and I have been dragging my feet to move them from my Harris album.
There's always a project or two isn't there? One of the things I love about stamp collecting
What stock books do you use, and what size ore they?
Greetings from Greece and a happy and warm Easter with your family.Hope the snow recedes in the coming days
Greetings to you too! And I hope you have a great Easter
I just bought two Netherlands DAVO hingeless albums. My Scott albums are great but once you buy the individual mounts for the sheets, mini sheets and stamps? The prices between the albums are really about the same.
That's right... there isn't a perfect system, that I've found... I wish Davo had Scott #s for example, but obviously they can't. After I invested in my albums I made my own card system that I really like, but you don't get the same satisfaction out of completing a set or a page with it. Pros and cons with everything I suppose
US poetess Emily Dickinson said of books that they "Take one worlds away".
But nothing so takes one worlds away during periods of stress and illness as does stamp collecting.
Well said!
@@silkontheweb Been there, done that.
And look at FDR: lead the allies during WW II -- and it was worldwide -- and was an avid stamp collector.
Will you soak the hinges off all the stamps before putting into your new album. I am new to stamp collecting.
Welcome to the hobby! I do, if its a used stamp and it'll stay in my album. I don't soak unused stamps, and if it's a used stamp that I know one day I'll replace with an unused version, I probably wouldn't soak it then.
Davo is my go to as well. I love the quality of their albums. Ireland, Isle of Man, France, Faroe Islands, Russia, and Poland for me. Netherlands will actually be my next purchase. And I agree, my stamps are an escape for me and are very therapeutic.
Nice focuses... and thx for sharing, good to hear from you. Canada is next for me, I really like the early ones and the Queens. Why Isle of Man? If you don't mind me asking... think it's cool choice
@@silkontheweb it seems I deleted my reply...I enjoy the early Canada commemoratives. Being from Nova Scotia, I also have a small NS collection. I collect Isle of Man for a few reasons. I find they produce very attractive and interesting stamps and the issues are all attainable. No "out of my price range/super rare" issues. So, in theory for me, a complete collection is possible (still a slow process). Same goes for Faroe Islands (gorgeous stamps and a bucket list trip for me). A great grandmother of mine was born on the Isle of Man so there is also an ancestral connection. I post of facebook and Instagram as Foxridge Philately in case you are ever interested in checking it out. I enjoy your posts, keep up the great work!
Thanks for the encouragement! And I agree about starting a country that's 100% collectible... the Netherlands is certainly easier to build than USA, GB or Canada...
I have a Dutch Indies Davo album, i'm very happy with it. True, still lots of empty spaces
Just opportunities to get more stamps... :)
Did you order direct from Davo? I'm curious what they charge for shipping. I searched in their website but found nothing about shipping costs. Thanks
I didn't... ordered through my local stamp shop, they get a 15% retailers discount when ordering direct.
Enjoy your new album ! Like "Christmas" in April, eh ! Hard to imagine so much snow; where I live in the southern California deserts, next week, we will be seeing 90*F for the first time this year.... with summer temperatures up to 110*F - 120*F, that is my indoor time for enjoying my stamps, reading, etc. As long as my A/C works ! 🙂 Are you going to expand out to Dutch Colonies?
I will (Dutch colonies)... and honestly, I mostly like weather that keeps you inside with your stamps and books... an April snowstorm though......
Your pages look wonderful. Since you collect Dutch stamps do you also collect the Dutch colony of Netherlands Indies?
I do! Not in an album yet, just a stockbook
I like Netherlands Indies but still need quite a few. If you have any mint/unused duplicates that you would like to sell or trade, I can send you a list Please let me know. Thanks
It's a choice: I don't allow weather to affect my moods. And I LOVE snow.
Agree... were in a serious drought this winter, miss snow... :(
@@silkontheweb There are many topical ideas I have, though I doubt I'll start such collections:
Daises. Turtles. Lighthouses. Windmills. Penguins. Polar bears.
Ever notice that when there is a blizzard polar bears are invisible?
