Been watching 2005 and 2008 versions for years now. Got me through the pandemic and passing of my partner. Thank you to Jon Larson AND ALL of the magnificent, brilliantly talented members of both recorded performances. Omg thank you. Add to that Tick Tick Boom!.
I love RENT! I remember reading the NYT article about Jonathan Larson’s death. So sad, but he left behind an incredible legacy that just changed the face of Broadway and musical theater. It took me almost a year to get tickets to see the show. But when I did, wow, it was just amazing! RENT is one of my top 4 favorite musicals.
I was just cast in a production of RENT yesterday...and I will say that I am without a doubt a 'renthead' and this video meant so much to me, and what it means for how this show has affected so many people in so many different ways it is truly a beautiful thing when you look at it. I really think it was something that was meant to come into my life.
Such a great cast for the final shows :) I watched the Filmed Live on Broadway Version before I even really knew what Rent was, and from the moment I saw it I knew that it was something entirely its own. There was nothing to compare it to. Then I saw the movie and watched videos from the OBC, listened to both soundtracks and now I wish I was old enough to have learned about it and appreciated it sooner (I'm only 16). I especially love Tracie and Eden here. They really do the parts justice!
i feel just so sad knowing i’m multiple years late to rent. i’d ask to be older to have the chance to watch this live, like it’s just so magical even through watching a recording of it
Rosario Dawson and Tracie Thomas weren't in the original cast. Tracie was in the final performance and the movie and Rosario was in the movie only as Mimi. But everyone else in the movie was OBC.
Daphne Rubin-Vega would’ve gladly played Mimi again in the movie version, but she was preggers at the time, so there was no way for her to play her original title role.
DON'T. Talk. About. Rent. Remixed. EVER!!! Ahem...how awesome is it that so many cast members were fanatic RENTheads, just like us? Persistence pays, I'm telling you... Thank you SO much for posting this. It was great and very generous of you to share it. "Adam Pascal- I like him a lot". Yeah, I bet he did...
ehhh those will not the be the last R.E.N.T cast. it is an amazing production that people will demand to bring it back, and i will be the next Maureen Johnson:D
@newagesoapopera1 im not sure if he was in the production before... i just learned that eden espinosa had played in rent, im a little behind on the times ;-)
Did anyone notice that Tracy , Justin, Eden, and Micheal all had last names beginning with the same letter as their first name. I just thought that was coincidental when they showed their names.
Eden Espinosa was perfect for Maureen. Not because I love her, it’s cause her voice in the show has a lot of that Idina Menzel vibe (The Original Maureen)
@HaNnAhBhAm I meant the version of rent that's in the west end is bad. It's like rent remixed or something. Why couldn't they just bring over the original?
i am in Dominican Republic (caribbean island shared with Haiti)... Imagine Rent with a third of the West End budget an really bad pop singer (by the 3rd day some of them were lipsinging)
i really wasn't a decent version of rent to come to the west end. you guys in the US have no idea how annoying it is for all the great shows to be on fucking broadway grrr...x

Well Idina originated the role. Look up Eden Espinosa, she's the maureen in the closing night of broadway and was an elphaba as well

I'm completely obsessed with this show after seeing it off-broadway. the performance was fantastic!
Tracey Thoms is so beautiful!
I know isn’t she. She was so good in the show as Joanne💚
I LOVE RENT!!!❤Thank you Jonathan Larson. R.I.P

It's actually spelled Tracie Thom's not Thomas not being rude I'm just informing you and it's cool too

Rent is the show that inspired me to start writing
My picture is in a bunch of those books!! Lol
How's it feel to be a preserved leaf? :D
I LOVE "RENT" !!!!
6:01 A reMARKable talent :P
If Jonathan Larson's spirit and memory is kept in the show, it won't suck. :)
AMAZING!!!
Thanks for posting,
525,600 minutes how do you measure the life of a woman or a man!!!!!!!!! Beautiful
Wine and beer!!!
Omg. Eden Espinosa (Maureen) was also Elphaba in Wicked for a while.
Rent save me from depression. ❤️
Well you did have the best Les Mis and Phantom casts
Eden Espinosa also played Elphaba on Broadway
ehhh those will not the be the last R.E.N.T cast.

Estef Ch I know. They’ll bring it back sometime again in the future.

I love Eden's story of how she first saw rent.
@HaNnAhBhAm I couldn't agree more!
I WANT TO BE IN RENT!!!
@newagesoapopera1 i had forgotten that he could sing so well :)
mimi
@newagesoapopera1 i saw the show, and wayne brady was actually pretty good!
Eden Espinosa was perfect for Maureen. Not because I love her, it’s cause her voice in the show has a lot of that Idina Menzel vibe (The Original Maureen)

im doing rent this summer...anyone near the hudson valley area, hit me up!
Wiked hasn't been out as long as rent was so I doubt it
Idina Menzel was so much better as Maureen!!!
@acegamer94 Maybe Northern Hemisphere summer-2012
@meluvspringawakening you will!!!! :)
Eden
@zupanicka of course....because he's not Adam pascal lol ;)
Who was the "really bad pop singer"? And how do you know they were lip-synching? I'm curious since I was there during all the performances.
I wonder why Eden never auditioned for Mimi?
@maroonmystique only if i can be mimi ;)
Do you mean Idina Menzel?
Yep theatre is great in London but for musicals the West End doesn't touch the tallent on Broadway.
@acegamer94 coming back 2012
nonononono i meant that the version of rent they did on west end (rent remixed) was awful
west ends pretty good it's just rent that's bad
i really wasn't a decent version of rent to come to the west end. you guys in the US have no idea how annoying it is for all the great shows to be on fucking broadway grrr...x
I honestly didn’t like Renee as mimi
They should've ended it with the original cast
