- Elvis was never one to shy his band and backup singers from the spotlight. From time to time, he requested they come out to the center of the stage and sing one of their songs. Bill Baize with When It's My Time, JD Sumner on Walk That Lonesome Road, and Sherril Nielsen with several songs.
The other person is Kathy Westmoreland who began her career with Elvis a week after filming wrapped for TTWII, and stayed until the very end. Elvis "loved" her a lot, and gave her a lot of teasing on stage, but that all stopped when he requested her to sing My Heavenly Father.
RCA refuses to ever let this song be released on Elvis recordings so until it's inclusion in the Bruce Jackson 3 cd pack, we never had an official release with only bootleg soundboards to acknowledge they were. Finally at last we have Kathy singing her heart out to god with a lovely rendition of My Heavenly Father. Enjoy.
Wow she's got an amazing voice wow that's all I can say is wow
Cathy ha una voce superba e dolce....Elvis era fiero di averla con sé. .Credo di aver letto che lei ha cantato questa canzone(questo inno) al funerale di Elvis 😢.....
È emozionante..

Beautiful.
She sings so, Beautiful. 💐
Reminds me of those old ladies in my Baptist church growing up that put me to sleep
Excellent for the high notes that woke me up.
First time hearing this & I’m on my 4th time listening. Kathy = Amazing. 🎶
This is one of my most consistently watched videos, and I kinda just did it as a throwaway because FTD had never released Kathy singing the song. It was only available through bootlegs and long story short, everyone loves the video. Thanks for the comment.
@@1015Elvis Vernon Presley asked Kathy to sing this song at the funeral for Elvis the next year.
Thanks to Everyone who is watching this video.
Elvis the talent coach🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I had a chance to meet Kathy in Philadelphia back in 1978 . There was a Elvis convention, and I walked around the booths and watched some concert footage and low and behold Kathy was a " Special Guest " attending this convention.
I'll always regret not approaching her and saying hello. To this day , it's one of my biggest regrets. You could tell she was a wonderful person .
Wow was jd Summer there

Amen
Kathy é muito afinada.👏
Elvis para sempre!💝

❤️👑🇺🇾
She kind of sounds like Julie Andrews.
I’m pretty sure that if I were spending money to see Elvis, the last thing that I’d want is to have to listen to a back up singer perform songs. Nobody paying to see Kathy Westmoreland.
This is why by 1976, Elvis was as irrelevant as he had been in 1966.
Then why torture yourself by coming here to post a negative comment?
