17:50 Ok. It does sound complicated. HOWEVER That is FANTASTIC for many nations if they intend to add it. BTW what I was thinking was soviets have a way to set up Soviet Poland as a nation similar to a Reichskommisariat with the Soviets able to have a decision to create it as basically a puppet government but "Poland" still exists as a contested Government-in-Exile.
8:37 i think Army/Navy/Airforce Foci should also run on a variant of this, that when you hire a chief of Army, he automatically progresses your army branch, not as fast as if you did select the focus yourself, but let's say half as fast (so a 70 day focus would take 140 instead), which lets you (slowly) advance through your army tree while focusing on other things (or slightly accelerating your army progress as it could add-up if you end up selecting the same focus as your Chief of staff) this lightens the load for the player between the various branches, but also represent the army working on their projects to improve and prepare for the next war, gives more chances to benefit from some of the army bonuses as for example you're france, you usually never end up going through the navy focuses, so never play with the selection between "Rushing the Richelieus" or "Rushing the Joffre" to get a pair of 1940 BBs or a 1940 CV "fast" (or at least faster than building it without the focus help) what about exclusive/diverging branches? well the thing could be that each Chief of Staff has preferences depending on their advisorial role, so an army maneuver advisor would focus going down the foci that gives templates and bonuses for tanks, mechs and mots for example
What focus tree do you think gets reworked next? Japan, USA, or UK/France? My guess, Japan. And we will get some focus trees for Philippines and Thailand, maybe Vietnam, and maybe Taiwan as a hidden tree? Would be cool to see an alt history where the Philippines stays with the USA after the war and becomes a state.
Yeah. Japan is probably next with some South East Asian countries. Man the guns is not integrated into the game yet so I don't think a USA/UK rework is coming for some time
I like the new Economy of Conquest system, that being said, unless endgame sim speed issue is somewhat mitigated by improved AI, I don't see myself crossing the Atlantic to finish America off, let alone marching across Eurasian Steppes. I think most player would probably call it a win when economic Autarky is established.
4:35 if you can capture gold reserves does this also means government can exfiltrate their gold to colonies or friendly nations, like how Belgium lost their gold between I think Dakar and Tombouctou because of some train operator pulling the wrong switch. Also it's kinda weird to have a crossing the Atlantic focus, as you can just use Goëring as a carrier base, maybe it's for those time where you shoot him with a canon into Britain, who can tell.
I’m very excited about the dlc and I can’t wait to play. The fact remains that the allies can be defeated in one year making most of the tree flavor. Paratroopers can land when you reload a save and the ai plains get reshuffled. The ai doesn’t put their ships up when a country is guaranteed and declared on. They need to fix some holes or there will be some funny videos day one. There is also a work around to naval invade when you have military access. I don’t care if they patch it, but if they don’t a lot of these changes are role play features
It appears that Fascist Germany has options for diplomacy instead of military bullying. Interesting how diplo-fascist with sane economy will turn out. Interesting variant on the current democratic Germany - turn the Soviets into the bad guys.
i love this new economic system for Germany. The Autarky path is the historical path and it makes total sense. Germany's economy faltered at the end of the war and was one of the main reasons as to why they lost. I think it will also be very good for balancing how strong Germany will now be with the new AI changes as well, because at some point Germany's economy will falter and that will give you the opportunity to push back against them when their economy starts to suffer
Does 100% consumer goods factor mean that your consumer goods are doubled or does is it literally give you 100% consumer goods so that you can't use a single factory?
The thing about that debuff for the MEFO Bills (the worst one, that is) is that additional consumer goods modifier added on top of the 100% CGFF is that it's not CGFF... it's a modifier in lieu of how these consumer goods modifiers used to work where it's flat out added on top of the law, i.e. for Civilian Economy it goes from 35% consumer goods to 45% consumer goods, rather than 10% of 35% (so 3.5%) being added. So if you had Civ Economy with the worst MEFO Bills modifier, you'd be shilling 90% of your economy to the consumer gods, and even with Total Mob it'd go to 40%, not counting other potential modifiers. So yeah, it can easily get extremely nasty. Another thing to note is that Hess and Bormann, the only two guys to give you PP gain in the Inner Circle, are immediately mutually exclusive. This does make sense to some degree, as they both fulfilled the same role within Nazi society, and Hess took his fateful flight to Britain in part because he felt sidelined (because of favor shifting to Bormann) and powerless to prevent a two-front war that would inevitably destroy Germany. The choice to make them instantly mutually exclusive was likely to prevent two men from essentially occupying the same position at the same time, although historically Hitler initially favored Hess until he stopped being useful after the outbreak of war.
Also, I wonder if the contested ownership mechanic may also apply to factions of the Spanish Civil War, since most of them claimed rightful leadership of Spain. That, and it'd prevent things like Carlist Spain capitulating after only losing two states regardless of what they've conquered in the meantime. On the other hand, it'd make Spain much more of a pain than it is now.
Ha - there should be actually an event/decision for Poland "Evacuate Gold Reserves", which will render "Seize Gold Reserves" option for Germany unavailable against Poland, if taken by Poland. It should happen on historical, as the actual story of Polish gold reserves getting evacuated in 1939 is pretty epic.
If you zoom in on the screenshot of all the Reichkommissariats on the map you'll notice Germany has a new name 'Greater Germanic' rather than 'Greater German', I'm not sure if it's a new formable or just a cosmetic name but it's there.
I think the focuses around invading the US got added, because gameplaywise, if they join the allies, you will have some serious issues attempting to invade them. Historically it makes absolutely no sense, the nazis never wanted to invade the US and only some pre-war newspaper propaganda in the US even talked about this. Gameplaywise it absolutely makes sense. And in this case, unless they rework how peacing out an entire faction works, this is the only solution.
The Ressources needed for „Autarky Achieved“ don’t seem that crazy. Chromium in the Balkans, Aluminum in France, Oil in Romania. I think you should be able to do the Focus before Barbarossa.
I was fully expect the German rework to just do what the Italian alt fascist tree did and just give you like Goering and Himmler but it's really cool to see you can get multiple different interesting leaders for fascist germany
Will contested ownership make it so that in peace deals you can’t take occupied land from countries? For example if you invade German occupied poland and then it’s up for grabs in the peace deal.
I don't like the MEFO bills, +10% military factory construction speed literally means nothing because most players build a lot of civilian factories early game to greed the economy, and only start building millies around 1938, and the 10% consumer goods and dockyard building speed doesn't mean anything either. It would be cool if you had a decision that turns on MEFO bills, so that you could turn them on after you have already build the civilian factories you need, and where the millie construction speed modified (which is insignificant by the way) is needed. I get that it's more "realistic" but germany has always been the "tutorial" nation for new players and the first nation they play, playing germany is simple, you build your economy, build an army, conquer the world, playing germany is relaxing in a weird way. With this I think it will make it a bit less enjoyable because of all the micromanaging.
Germany has always been in a kind of unique situation with MEFO where it builds mills and get's it's civs from it's focus tree and eating it's neighbors with it's focus tree. Part of the typical strategy is use MEFO to build mills to make guns to race down the Anschluss to get Austria's civs because they would get a handful from their generic focus tree. That strategy is now entirely in the bin considering Austria is getting a full tree and MEFO has been changed into a micromanage mechanic.
My guts saying that this DLC would not replacing the old German focuses in the base game as the previous DLCs has done to Italians and Russians. 1) it would removing 3 paths for one, and after they integrating previous DLCs into base game it's a net loss for both player and Paradox. 2) A lot of mechanics seems to be tied together to each countries in this DLCs so unless they giving historical Austria and Hungary for free it's a low chance to giving the Germany as well. 3) I'm agree that the old German Focuses is essentialy a tutorial for new players because it's a very easy focus albeit a bland one. It seems that Paradox also agree on this on top of the "pay for more flavour" strategy.
@@shironee_2384if you don't own the new DLC you get the whole historical rework and the new mechanics in this DD and the alt history remains unchanged from WTT. If you own the DLC you get the new alt history focus trees for Germany. The special projects mechanic and the Austria and Hungary tree

Something I was hoping for is an insanity mechanic for the mustache man similar to Stalin's paranoia, Schmitler was already crazy, but he starts descending into further madness after losing to the RAF on the battle of london, making questionable decisions, purging generals like Rommel in 1944... it was a lost opportunity
Thank God there's no stupid random paranoia system for germany. It's stupid enough that you can have zhukov be accused in Stalin's paranoia system at the same time as say your general you write it in Spain or your chief of army. Basically forcing you to eat the political power loss by not choosing anyone to get purged.
I think the issue is that when a player gets to that point in the timeline, they've already won the war basically and if they're playing against an AI Germany then why would you want to further nerf an already weak AI
@@anton33779 idk why thay would be good for a winning germany, in my mind, insanity would mean loss of stability, war support, pp gain, hitler shooting good generals due to paranoia, good generals defecting to other countries and a possible civil war. 1:59 That's not entirely true... During World War II, the United States imposed extensive price controls through the Office of Price Administration (OPA) to manage inflation and prevent wartime shortages. These controls, along with rationing, were somewhat successful in stabilizing prices during this period of extreme supply constraints. In this case, price controls worked because they were part of a broader system that included rationing, wage controls, and heavy government intervention.
Also, after World War II several European countries used price controls temporarily as part of broader stabilization policies to rebuild their economies. Price controls, combined with rationing and reconstruction efforts, helped stabilize markets that were in severe disarray in the aftermath of the war.
Price controls lead to shortages, by countering those shortages with rationing you essentially kneecap natural economic recovery by removing price signals. When prices are high that signals consumers to buy less and producers to make more which causes prices to reach their natural equilibrium. If you obscure this information with price controls you remove the incentive to invest in production causing recovery to take longer. Essentially it's the old government problem of "Be seen doing something even if it's wrong."

I like the option for local recruiting the leaders for attempting to make less rascist German play.
im very excited for this
when i saw the bonuses i almost choked oh BOI germany is going to be played on easy mod till the next update and some old focus trees are remade
This DLC is looking like it will be great!
BUT!
Being that it's introducing quite a few new mechanics, it's gonna have bugs galore.😒
The special projects mechanic and the Austria and Hungary tree
i guess germany is going from one of the best beginner nations to one of the hardest to play as
I wonder how they'll handle Hess going on vacation in Scotland if you put him in the Inner Circle?
he has to use his PTO
I believe he gets shackled to his chair at his capstone focus.
Is that going to be a dlc or a free update?
upgraded germany Is Free
The historical content for Germany that this DLC is showing will be for free but you will have to pay for the Alternate History content and everything else
Historical… free… alt history DLC… for Germany. For Hungary… everything is DLC. For the resonoi the countries. We don`t know yet.
1772 views in 17 minutes , good for you! :)
This feels way too micro you're gonna have to do now, I don't if it's gonna be a good idea to still have Germany as a choice for new players.
Finally. We don’t need RK+ anymore.
so will they integrate the colorured puppets mod then? they should
When will the update come out
My only wish is those DCLCs could be more cheap, here they cost like US$70 each
Hearts of Iron IV: Expansion Pass 1 36,99€ "Götterdämmerung" + "Graveyard of Empires" + "Prototype Vehicles" + "Ride of the Valkyries Music" of course it would be nice if the DLCs were cheaper, but in that case Paradox might become like EA or Ubisoft and release the "same" game again and again every couple of years with only a few changes and improvements. + "same" DLCs again.
@@Seer_Of_The_Woodlands still cheaper for you guys, those DLCs rarely get discount, and when it does, its pretty meagre.
Its nice to get New content, but my good they are getting expensive with every release, and Paradox alredy looks like taking EA Path
@@darthplayer5333 maybe maybe not. at least I don't think it's as bad as what EA is doing. it's pretty ridiculous what EA thinks is appropriate to charge for non-existent additions to the game or just cosmetic additions. + EA doesn't listen to complaints from players. At least for now, Paradox occasionally makes changes and improvements if we demand enough. but no matter what, this DLC got me hooked. At least for now. hopefully in the future as well. and have a good day and let's hope that the prices will remain reasonable in the future, etc. have a good day !
@@darthplayer5333 just pirate them bro if you cant afford them, no shame in that
That is NOT what I imagined you’d look like.
Is MEFO changes would be in without dlc?
Yes. Everything in this dev diary is available without DLC.

Hi Bitter steel bro
im new to the game 50 hours in i wanted to ask a crucial thing which i think wuill help me become a bteer player
that when you start a new nation or any nation how would you know what to do like what focuses to pick what researches to do who to attack first?
please bro guide me
whenever i want to play i start a nation but am unable to do anything because i dont know who to attack what focuses to pick?
when you were a new player how did you figure it out?
Lets go!!!!
So, would this only affect a player who has the DLC?
This should be for anyone

SERIOUSLY, WHATS THIS MANS PROBLEM WITH GÖRING IVE BEEN SEEING HIM SHIT ON GÖRING FOR SO LONG BUT WHYY
Ecstatic at the inclusion of Böhmen-Mahren, directly annexing Bohemia always irked me in the base game
Edit: I take it back, RK Ukraine has Crimea and Odessa, Paradox needs to go
Boi, seems like if you can successfully Sea-lion or push back the soviets to Urals, your economy is as big as yanks!
Well you can't really do anything against it and it would just give more power to a winning Germany and make a losing Germany worse
@@anton33779 idk why thay would be good for a winning germany, in my mind, insanity would mean loss of stability, war support, pp gain, hitler shooting good generals due to paranoia, good generals defecting to other countries and a possible civil war. Insanity wouldn't be something good, but entirely bad, and the only way to get rid of is by getting rid of mustache man. I get the point of the bad AI, but the AI is bad even on elite difficulty
He wasn't crazy, he was much more Napoleon than Stalin.
The only thing left, not having its dlc, is home of the free. USA.

how about we get that DLC for free after they decided to give two major dlcs for free when we had to buy both ?
This is free
New historical german tree and basic level facility protects are free but other trees and expanded system requires dlc
It's been 7 and 6 years since the release of said DLCs. It's reasonable to make them free in order to make the reworks more organized
@@MiniSugus It would also be reasonable to let us that have paid for these dlcs (and every other for that matter) have at the very least two nice discounts on the new DLCs that are coming out... They need to understand that if we wanted to we could have gotten every dlc pirated and still be able to play MP normally...
@@henrycastle6584 it would be nice yes but I'm not going to complain that other are getting them for free because I bought it 6 years ago just as I don't complain when steam makes gives a game for free or gives a huge discount. And they wouldn't keep doing content for the game if it wasn't profitable or if we would just pirate it anyway

Insane MEFO nerf
MEFO itself is nerved, but Im pretty sure at the End especially after „achieving Autarky“ Germany will be stronger than before.

MEFO 的效果也太爛了吧?? 我開局直接關掉算了,本來就沒有很好,現在更差勁,要他做甚麼??
Mefo bills looks like trash now then
As it should be. Germany is op af right now
@@doctorwhat779 I mean it ain't really going to nerf them for the player lol. Early war can still be done.
