We wake up after a bad nights sleep in a far from ideal camp spot. Luck is on our side when Maudi has an accident. Out on the road we are stopped and invited to spend the night with a wonderful local family. They show us their incredible home and share some of their lives stories. The days and nights get colder and we can really feel autumn is in the air now. Getting our work done out on the road brings us to some interesting "office spaces”...

Just wanted to say how much I love your adventures together and for sharing them with us!! You remind me that the world is such a beautiful place and that people can be so good and kind. I visit my 92 year-old mother each week and we watch each new video of yours together. There is a well-known book in my country by Henry David Thoreau which expresses a philosophy that the two of you seem to embody and inspires me: "I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived." Keep on pedalling!

Thoreau very well, ( I read most of Walden, though I must say it wasn't an easy read ;) a dear friend also wrote that for me when we set out on our big tour and I feel that it is still a very relevant to this day. Hadn't thought of that quote from Thoreau in conjunction with the desire to go 'bikeabout'. Read Thoreau in College Prep. English, liked the subject, but never actively implemented the philosophy or thought of the links between mountain-biking/bikepacking and Thoreau's philosophy/impact upon my future passion (from that period of time pre. 1989 before I was bitten by the cycling/mountain-biking bug). Funny how random influences or exposure to ideas you barely think about except in passing can years later, come to haunt you (in a good way in this case..!). Might have to read Thoreau again at age fifty and see what i get out of it vs. what i didn't at age seventeen...

Maudi is so right about enduring the cold while bicycle touring to make good things extra good. Being outdoors, most of the time, really makes you appreciate nature and that can be seen in your videos. The time lapse shots are great too. Keep on cycling...

The Jura region is really beautiful! I have never been to that part of France - in the past I've either been in Paris or the southwest (Canal du Midi and the lower Pyrenees). Guess I have to add Jura to my list of places to visit! Thanks for including the chat with Antoine and Elodie. Their house - and their love of travel - are both inspiring. Stay warm!

Totally love this European bike trip you guys are on! I'm American but I lived in Europe for 6 years and miss it a lot. The Jura is magic! I used to go nordic skiing there and it was always like a fairy tale. May the next section of your ride be as satisfying, and may the weather be kind to you! Thanks for another great vid (I just don't know how you manage to edit so successfully on tour - respect!)

We rode through the Jura Mountains on our way to Switzerland back in August. I had never heard of them before and was pleasantly surprised by how beautiful the area was. Thanks for making this video, I think we traveled some of the same roads!

It is true everyone misses the Jura as they head south. It has some wonderful cycling and we are very lucky to live in the Jura.

Something else that I particularly liked was your inclusion of other people and their stories. It is disappointing when I watch videos of incredible long distance bicycle journeys but the only person featured is the cyclist. For me, that's egotistical. So well done guys. Absolutely loved this video guys. Your editing is amazing :) :)! If you go to the west coast of France, maybe check out Dune du Pilat, Arcachon, and Cap Ferret. My favorite spots :D. I really love following your adventure, it reminds me of some of the moments from my trip. When Maudi fell over it reminded me of myself falling when crossing a stream in the woods. I'm not sure if I was laughing, I think I was much more grumpy as I was cold, wet, and had mud all over my bike and clothes haha! Great attitude you both. It's crazy that when we endure difficult conditions, we can be so grateful just to have a warm cup of tea in our hands and dry clothes. Makes you appreciate small things in life, and that's what it's all about, being grateful for all the beautiful things that surround us. Good luck with the trip :)! Can't wait for the next video.

To me the name Jura is that of an exquisite whiskey from the Hebridean Isles off the Scottish mainland. I also think it's the name of a wine region yes? Hope you are both well. What a lovely couple you met. My need to travel comes from having worked so many years and not gone anywhere much but a hotel kitchen cooking and eating food from many nations worldwide, much of it French or Italian. I read recipe books from everywhere and i really want to go where those dishes come from, cook and eat the food in it's home region. What's your favourite cuisine and why?
Hi Mark! I had some of that whisky myself, and entry level one and pretty tasty. I am not sure if it is a wine region. I heard Orwell wrote 1984 on the Isle of Jura. That sounds great to enjoy the food in it's original region's, perhaps make that into a UA-cam channel... cooking channel combined with adventure ;) Now that is a difficult question: we have many favourite cuisine's: Indian, Japanese, Italian, Turkish... and so many more wonderful dishes from all over. Perhaps if we would have to pick it would be curries all the way. Not very healthy though with all the gravy but man so tasty ;)
@@WheelstoWander The Jura has some of the most famous wine and cheese in France, Vin Jaune being the best. Comte cheese is delicious with wine or for cooking with . You will have to visit again to try them both.
