I have always wanted to bike tour. I will be 25 this summer, done big hikes like Camino de Santiago, but Im so scared of camping alone. I really want to do a big Euro trip with my bike alone, I think this is a life experience we need to do. I will have to do it, despite fear.

Eric, The most important Safety accessory together with a mirror is glowing vest. Orange for daytime yellow for nighttime. I take both of them to any cycle touring abroad (20+ years). And I wear it everywhere (except on off-road). (and yes, I have noticed you use it from time to time). And off-course I use the vest daily, throughout the year in Tel Aviv district. Even when I go to supermarket.....
You not only traveled through a lot of countries but through all kinds of emotions, I guess. An outer but as well an inner journey. You guys "just" did it. Fantastic. Are you guys planning a next, long journey?

Hi Athal! We did in Japan, where it was quite safe to sleep in the cities. Elsewhere we never did that! In the beginning we mostly camped: in Europe (also in japen almost exclusively). Where it was more affordable for us we stayed at hotels more often, also to edit the videos. I think we have a pretty good section in the video about hygiene... All the best!
i have spent 2 months cycling with a budget of around 600 euros(+-100) Eastern europe is a bliss for cheap yet safe travels most expenses on other travels are ofcourse the Damned flight tickets
My first trip was around Holland , loved the bicycle infrastructure , 2nd trip was the Old Eastern German Border , South to North , last year I had everything planned for the river Danube and down into Croatia and island hopping but travel restrictions ? this year ?, presently the UK has made it law not to leave the country for non essential travel , stay safe folks !

Hi, extremely useful video! Now, if using gps on a phone, and you might still need an internet connection abroad for finding info also. Do u use free wifi at some public places - cafees, stations, libraries etc, maybe you get a sim card for a phone or some other ways?
Thanks! Yes we did get a simcard with a data limit for most countries. In some more expensive countries like Japan we relied on the vast network of free available internet connections.

Maybe it's a stupid question but as I'd like to travel with a bicycle too, I'm wondering : how/where do you usually park when you travel ? I mean, inside big cities for example with all your things that could be expansive, how you do ? Do you park outside the city ? Or you find a secure place ? Hi Gustave! Thank you :) That sounds like a great adventure about to start. Do you mean park for camping/overnight or going to a grocery store? For an overnight camp we search for a natural area in between cities/villages to "hide away" from people. For groceries try to take the bike inside the shop or put in view. With all of this some countries will be easier going than others. Inform yourself well on the current state of affairs around that topic in every country. All the very best for your upcoming tour!!
Eric, I have a question for you. On the video I think you said budget was about 25 Euros per person per day. However, on The Pursuit Zone podcast I think I heard you say it was about 25 Euros per day for both of you (2 people). In the video did you misspeak? 25 Euros per day for one person sounds expensive. Please clarify you budget individually or as a couple.
We do about 60km a day, after 70 we get sore in the butt. Sometimes it needs a lot of tries to get the right saddle and position dialed in right so don't give up! We also use a Thudbuster from Cane Creek that helps with mitigating bumps and vibrations from the road.

Hi, extremely useful video! Now, if using gps on a phone, and you might still need an internet connection abroad for finding info also. Do u use free wifi at some public places - cafees, stations, libraries etc, maybe you get a sim card for a phone or some other ways?
Thanks! Yes we did get a simcard with a data limit for most countries. In some more expensive countries like Japan we relied on the vast network of free available internet connections.

Maybe it's a stupid question but as I'd like to travel with a bicycle too, I'm wondering : how/where do you usually park when you travel ? I mean, inside big cities for example with all your things that could be expansive, how you do ? Do you park outside the city ? Or you find a secure place ?

Hi Gustave! Thank you :) That sounds like a great adventure about to start. Do you mean park for camping/overnight or going to a grocery store? For an overnight camp we search for a natural area in between cities/villages to "hide away" from people. For groceries try to take the bike inside the shop or put in view. With all of this some countries will be easier going than others. Inform yourself well on the current state of affairs around that topic in every country. All the very best for your upcoming tour!!

Eric, I have a question for you. On the video I think you said budget was about 25 Euros per person per day. However, on The Pursuit Zone podcast I think I heard you say it was about 25 Euros per day for both of you (2 people). In the video did you misspeak? 25 Euros per day for one person sounds expensive. Please clarify you budget individually or as a couple.

Hey, any tips on fitness for bicycle touring ?
What about genital/but pain, how do you control that?
I tried with special seat + pants, but after 60-70kms the pain still there, any tip?
ah and also wondering how many kms you do per day in average?
We do about 60km a day, after 70 we get sore in the butt. Sometimes it needs a lot of tries to get the right saddle and position dialed in right so don't give up! We also use a Thudbuster from Cane Creek that helps with mitigating bumps and vibrations from the road.
