HI, I have the season's DVD from 87-88. It only really shows a few games that the BBC covered that year....dissapointing if you're a Liverpool fan as this footage is somewhat rare now and Liverpool were fantastic that year.
What a team that was!
the first liverpool match i'd been to, what a result, a steve nicol hat trick and memories of being in the west stand in my yellow liverpool shirt surrounded by newcastle fans,
Liverpool in that season were easily one of the best teams to ever grace the English top flight, nearly every player would be worth a kings ransom in todays market.
The standard of football was decent then too. Man United, Forest, Everton, even QPR - all decent sides. Liverpool had an 8-1 aggregate score against us that season., But we beat them at Wembley ;-)
Steve Nicol really was absurdly good, wasn't he?
