- Hello and welcome back to my channel for another video as we talk about the Hot Toys 1989 Batmobile. Are happy with the final product "as is" or did you expect more from Hot Toys? Is there even a fair debate anymore between this car and the upcoming Jazzinc release?

I passed on this one to get the Jazzinc. Let hope the Jazzinc is much better.
I’m also getting the Jazzinc and it has to be better because hot toys set the standard very low!

I tried to find the Hot toys Batmobile everywhere but it’s long sold out. I have been on the waitlist for a long time and it has not converted. As a result, I decided to get the Jazzinc since my waitlist converter and at first I was skeptical because of the price. After seeing the Hot toys Batmobile 89 I feel good about the decision I made to get the Jazzinc. I do have the Jazzinc 2022 and I love it.

I completely agree with you, i think this is a 2014 product with 2024 price tag, i missed the first one and almost pre ordered last year through Sideshow but when i realized that it was strictly a reissue not even a 2.0 and listened the differents interviews to Joost from Jazzinc it was pretty clear to me which one to buy and i am so happy already because i'm sure that it'll be the best, the most accurate and detailed 1/6 ' 89 Batmobile period. This is my childhood movie car and i want the best and ultimate representation of it and i think it will be worth every penny. The price may seem a little steep at first but it's more than fair for all the work and love Jazzinc has poured in it, it's value will triple over time, maybe more and people will "go nuts" about it. 😅
Nevertheless in the case you're keeping both enjoy them and the battery thing only matters if are going to let it on 24/7, but for me it's the least of the problems the H.T has, i totally understand you, if you let me say this : if i were you probably i would cancel the H.T and re use the credit on something else.

I can't agree with you more!!! Not a being a 'Hot toys" loyalist and knowing that the Jazz Inc one is out, I got the Jazzi Inc one! To me that was a no brainer! I'm not "loyal" to any brand, just the better item...Hot toys version looks like a midget toy to fill a gap and to cater to the fans of hot toys! Absolute re-issue!

This was HotToys opportunity to prove themselves the way they did with their Artisan line in comparison to other companies releasing premium versions of the characters. They already had the mold for the 89 Batmobile, a little tweak here, a little paint there, make it USB and you would’ve had yourself a winner. They chose to just release a cheaper product where cash won over cred. Instead of asking “hold my beer” when word got out that Jazzinc was releasing an 89 Batmobile, HotToys went the rout of “show me the money” and released an outdated copy for extra cash in their pockets. This was a fail on HotToys. Lazy and disappointing.
I can't argue you on any of those points. I am buying both as I indicated in my video for my display, but man something simple like USB would have a nice upgrade.
Hot Toys have done a lazy re release of the same thing without any simple or practical upgrades. I think the JazzInc "89" will leave the HT "89" in it's wake. Vehicle supply is basically a case of big production line (Hot Toys) verses small production artwork (JazzInc). I'm hoping the work of art i have ordered from Joost is worth the wait & the bucks. 🤞 Thanks for the content Mr Mom. Cheers from Down Under

Just got mine today. Mostly satisfied but did not know until now that we got shorted the shell that they already produced previously.

I feel exactly the same as you. Had this on pre-order, but cancelled it after ordering the Jazzinc. The Jazzinc feels more like it will be a museum piece, a real studio model, vs this realistic toy version. Don't get me wrong, this is a great Batmobile, and if the Jazzinc version wasn't out there, I'd be happy with this, but the fact that they chose not to update it one bit (no paint, and upgarded lights\USB) is a bit of a snub to collectors. Glad with my decision right now.
100% agree jazzinc is great for the accuracy but those who are budget conscious hot toys is still a great choice
sometimes HT community needs to understand that some fans such as myself didnt have the luxury of laying hands on the initial release, so we would be happy even if it's just a regular reissue. however i do agree that HT put zero effort to make improvements. even going so far to remove the canopy shell. thanks for video-ing your thoughts!
also, i have the same thoughts of extending the workaround for the battery alternative. i think you can ignore and leave the cover resting on with the wire in the way. most of the time you wont be displaying w the car's ass facing out, shouldnt be a dealbreaker.
Sheeesh, these comments. This is a first world problem. I missed out on the first batch and it was only happen stance that my local collecible shop got these. Three sold out the first week and two more got delivered today, so i grabbed one. Just found out about Jazzinc and they've sold everything through. We all know these will sell out by month's end, and you'd be lucky to get anything. I'm happy with the purchase and im hoping to get a batwing in the future. Hotoys or Jazzinc -- if preorders open back up.
I had sideshow on pre-order but canceled it a while later. Just seemed like you said a cash grab with lack luster appeal now compared to then. Decided to go with jazzinc in the end

I'm a Jazzinc fan.. but I was hoping some upgrades for other collectors here.
What I see are flat grey seats one piece with seams on the side. I see side pipes weathering is literally 3 swaths of metallic blue..
I see the same dim Lights..
And if that's paint all over it I'll eat my hat cause when you look in the battery area the color is exactly the same.
Never-mind the paint inaccuracies with either movie like the wheels.
This is all I need. Even though the price is high I’m good with this. It’s only going to be on the shelf. I’m not going to play with it so Im good. When I look at it on the shelf it the batmobile. But if you got the jazzinc that’s cool as well

I have a hunch you may decide to get rid of the Hot Toys version, once you get your hands on the Jazz Inc one! Will you really want to display 2x ‘89 batmobiles? That’s gonna be a lot of space? 🤔

When the Hot Toys 89 Batmobile was announced I was pumped up. For years I wanted one but the secondary market prices are just off the hook.
I dopo this vehicle from Sideshow, it was a no brainer. I do agree on having it powered by a USB instead of old tech.
To be honest most likely I won't be using the light up feature for the most part.

Such a shame. Hot Toys inconsistency drives me nuts. On the one hand, we have the likes of their Bane, Armoured Batman 2.0's; i.e. lots of improvements over their predecessors; on the other, - Batman Begins, and now this Batmobile - lazy and disrespectful re issues, which are arguably inferior to the 1.0's. The omission of the shield shell is a nasty cherry on top. In a vacuum, this vehicle is great, but the 89 Batmobile deserves the utmost of respect, such as what JI are appears to giving fans.
It was really no reason for hot toys to invest in upgrading it Dash they knew a whole host of people would run to pick it up because so many people missed the first one when it released plus add to that that they're only competition is jazz Inc which is a double the cost and B will take three times the amount of time to come out for what will ultimately work out to be only marginal improvements and it's just a recipe for successful Hot Toys. Best of all Jazz Inc did all the research for them. I'm not a fan of hot toys at all - in fact I only buy third party figures now because hot toys is so bad - but this is an absolute win for Hot Toys because it gives people choice and they'll still make money without having to research a thing.
Unfortunately I missed out on the first time it came out I do have it on preorder which is great but when your right your right they should have taken there time & added the usb it would have been way better
I understand the USB wasn't promised when this was announced last year, so one can say we can't be upset about something they didnt promise but they did upgrade the 1989 Batman so I was hoping some modern upgrades to this car like USB.
For me I think this is a win because I got into Hot Toys late, missed the boat and paid an unspeakable price to get the original DX for Jack and Keaton. To have the original sort of makes me happy and one negative is the shell that came before. For some reason I thought I was going to get it with this order. Either way kids will love this. I would get this but the shipping cost kills it for me tbh! I get why shipping is so pricey but I could get a figure instead! Can see why you’re a bit underwhelmed with this one shame it’s not USB. I can’t remember but do you have the original 89 Batmobile?

Looking back now I dont even think was trying to get into a battle. I think they were simply offering something if anything for those who just didn't want to spend the money on Jazzinc. Doesn't mean I agree with it, especially it being the 35th anniversary of the movie.
For those who missed out on the first release, it's great and a cheaper option than Jazzinc. I can't believe the size of it, but why hasn't it come with the shield?
That being said, your criticism is warranted. And you're right, I almost got sucked into buying this. Not because of fandom, but look wise and nostalgia lol

The shield is a waste of time, you don't use it and it's pointless, designed for shipping only, it's not great up close very flimsy and not robust also it's a very poor mould, I never even removed the protective film from it as it stayed in the box. So your not missing out at all.
Tbf not everyone can afford the Jazzinc - thats totally understandable. But 700 on something that isnt representative is ridiculous. 700 isnt pocket change.
I had the original HT Batmobile and this is exactly the same. Zero updates.
Such a shame, I won’t pretend I’m not surprised but I think we always hold out a little hope for something new but in this case nope
I go back and forth between ordering this. I have all the jazzinc Batmobiles. The 89 is paid off tomorrow so to HT or to not HT. USB battery packs are game changers

I can appreciate the re-release for those who didn’t get it, but not update this at all for a definitive “2.0” just feels like a cash grab for hot toys. They are definitely getting use out of those molds…
Facts!
When I had this car I connected those fake batteries with the DC plug adopter and had it plugged in to a wall switch. So when I turned the wall switch on the lights on the car came on. So I didn’t have to mess with batteries or taking the back panel off to turn it on or off…… ok I posted this comment right before you started to explain that you already know about the fake batteries lol.

I couldn't afford this one first time around, this drop was a day one PO for me it's '89!!!. Shame I'm in moving process and it will be in the box for a while😢 until all is set and done.🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇

Calling something a "cash grab" has to be the dumbest attempt at an insult ever. They're a company that makes a product with the intention of making a profit. I don't give a damn what you THINK they're doing, that's their reason to exist. If you don't want it, don't buy it. No one is forcing you. If you are whining because you decide to be a "completist," that's on you.
I don't care if it's toys, movies, books, or freakin' nachos. If you declare something is a "cash grab" your opinion is negated because you obviously either have no understanding of how businesses work, or you're just trying to get "outrage clicks."
