I toured there years ago. I should probably go again since I only live a couple minutes away. I really only remember it was a guided tour and the bowling alley in the basement. We grew up with the story of why the property walls had glass shards on the top. Alfred wanted to keep his family out.

I've seen photos of the exterior of Nemours and it looked very nice but I had no idea the interior was so beautiful. Thanks for the great video. As mentioned before, Diana was goddess of the hunt in ancient Roman mythology. She was also goddess of the Moon. You sometimes see her in paintings and sculpture with a crescent moon (on its side) in her hair. Maybe that was what looked like horns to you. Thanks again.

Amazing! I lived in old Louisville, Kentucky, and the DuPont’s had a house down the street from me. It’s no longer in the family, it may be a bed and breakfast. When you said, I thought I was done with these masks for a while, I started laughing. I’m in CVille and I’ve never seen so many people masking this late in the game. I will probably send you some correspondence, asking you if you questions about the Civil War, as I said, in my other comment to you, you’ve really steered my dissertation, but I want to pick your brain about two different topics. Keep the videos coming! I swear I have watched almost every single video of yours! I’m waiting on the summer to turn down the heat so I can go to some of these places! The Mississippi trip was fantastic!

Was at the hospital a few years ago with my Grandson. This place is hidden from view by all the trees and shrubs. I could see the top of the mansion, at best, from the street by the hospital. Looking out my Grandson’s window, I still had no clear view. It’s secluded and I never knew it was that beautiful. Will have to take a tour next visit. Very nice place. Thank you for the tour.👍

As a Delaware resident, born and raised here, I’ve visited Nemours Estate several times. As well as the other duPont family estates i.e. Winterthur and Longwood Gardens. Just for the record, Nemours was named after Nemours - the duPont’s family ancestry home in France. In addition, Alfred and Pierre were not brothers, but rather first cousins. In fact, Alfred, Pierre and T. Coleman duPont were all first cousins- not brothers. Finally, during the most important years ( growth of the DuPont De Nemours Company ), it was brothers Pierre, Irene and Lammot duPont who were most instrumental. All said, Alfred was most proud and held a huge amount of interest. But it was always Pierre who held control interest and was the wealthiest. Pierre was the owner of Longwood estate and gardens. It’s still operates today and most likely will for many years to come. Just like Nemours estate, gardens and the Nemours children’s hospital. I have had the pleasurable opportunity to visit several of the duPont family’s estates. In my opinion… though Nemours may not be the biggest house or estate, it is the most beautiful well thought out and definitely second to none. Enjoyed your tour. You were correct about 98 % 😉😊

The goddess Diana is goddess of wild animals and the hunt. Usually is depicted along with a stag. (Greek equivalent is Artemis.)

Good job. Diana would forgive you for not knowing her on sight; the great Diana by St-Gaudens made as a weathervane to top the original Madison Square Garden was taken down and bought by the Philadelphia Museum of Art and as the saying goes, she enjoyed her stay in New York "but on the whole, she'd rather be in Philadelphia."

By the way, there are also historical mansions in Newport, Rhode Island. It used to be a popular summer spot for the wealthy in the 19th century and early 20th century. There's Rosecliff, where the 1970s version of "The Great Gatsby" was filmed. There's also the Elms, the Breakers, Marble House and others. The Breakers has huge chandeliers in the dining room. I don't know if they allow filming inside. Another possibility is Kykuit, the Rockefeller estate in Pocantico Hills, NY, north of New York City. You have to reserve tickets ahead of time. I know they don't allow filming inside the house but the gardens are very nice if you go in summer, with interesting sculptures both modern and traditional. You have to be part of a tour group. I'm pretty sure you can film the gardens as long as you avoid filming other people.

Nice travelogue. A bit too quick with the camera shots, but nice!. Unbelievable home!. But, as any ill-gotten gain goes, it will eventually turn to dust and ashes even if it was pretty to look at. But, its still pretty to look at.

The statue in the open, round temple? Diana, the pagan goddess of the hunt. Also, known as Artemis.

I just happened to stumble on this, but man if you're going to make travel videos and although you're research is very good, watch your comments ....I've never been there, but The Temple Of Love does not hold a "crazy looking statute", I can't imagine why you would say that?....It's actually a very beautiful classical statue and I'm sure it says DIANA not DIANE...The Goddess of Hunt. Nevertheless, great job!!!!!!

With all that money, he should have gotten a REAL FRENCH architect to build it, especially the grounds. Speaking of the exterior, it looks kinda unfinished (I didn't want to say "half-baked".) The symmetry, or lack thereof, is simply awful.
