As a healthcare professional I want people to understand that even if we had 1 million ventilators in the US or anywhere else. We do not have enough staff to run them or take care of a patient on these ventilators! Please stay at home!!!! Please!!!!
I wish there was more I could do to help. I'm staying home when I absolutely can. Only going out when we need food or I go to the cleared out office to complete essential tasks. I have so many friends in nursing ...they are stressed and I wish I could be there for them and hug them so instead I dropped a bottle of wine we all like outside their home one day this week while they were busting their butts. One sent me a video of her picking it up with a rag and saying"no offense love but I'm going to wipe this down!" I was so not offended instead we had a good laugh about how our wine nights now look. Miss my hero ladies but I just want them to stay safe!
That's the major issue here in Italy too, we have the tools and the emergency infrastructures but we're starting to lack medical staff. Our government is asking to doctors who have retired up to two years ago to come back in hospitals to help with this crisis. They also sped up the process for undergraduates doctors to finish up the last steps of their graduation so they can come help too.
I'm also hearing from Italy that 50% of people who are placed on ventilators don't survive this thing anyway. If you're bad enough to require ICU and ventilation, there's a good chance you will die regardless of medical intervention, unfortunately.
John is like that granddad you never want to do wrong because instead of yelling at you, he’s so utterly disappointed in your actions that you are overcome with shame and guilty.
@Benaiah Ahmadinejad Huh? I didn't get any such vibe. He's not talking down Africa, but simply accurately reporting on how managing the outbreak will be very much more difficult in impovrished communities. That's just true. I don't hear any judgement or blaming the poor people in what he's saying.
Waited over two hours for store to open.A lady over 90 with her walker was getting ready to get in line.We all allowed her to move up to the front of line and waited until she was well into the store before we entered. Way to go America !!
Mark McKinley what state? I saw a little old lady with a cane going to a grocery store I stopped her and offered her a free case of water. She accepted I put it in her trunk then she went back and into the store because she was going to the bank to pull cash. I would have done her banking but that takes a lot of trust
A heartwarming story for everyone...from a loved one in Liverpool... His mum went to the shop yesterday to pick up some dog food. She didn't realize that there was a 3 per customer limit on canned food (the dog has chronic health issues and must follow a specific diet) and when she presented her purchase to the clerk, he explained that he was sorry, but he couldn't sell her that much. Dismayed, she said that 3 cans would only feed the dog for a day and half, but she handed over the extra food, completed her allowed purchase and left the store. Moments later, the clerk came out after her and handed her the food. He told her that although he could not sell her the food, that did not mean that he could not purchase it for her. Grateful, she offered to reimburse the clerk for his expense, but he would not accept anything in return, saying simply, "Don't be silly, love." May we all show such generosity and good will to our neighbors in this, our time of greatest need. Edit** Apparently it's worth noting that these are not your standard cans of Alpo or the like. These are 5.8oz /164g tins of Science Diet or UK equivalent. Dogs need more than 5.8oz/164g per day to survive.
Right so lets clarify. These are 5.8oz or 164g tins. Dogs typically need more than 5.8oz/164g of food per day to survive. And as to previous comments...Times like these always bring out one of two things... Either the best in people...or the worst in people. I've made my choice as to which category i would like to fall into. Others have clearly made theirs as well.
@Mystic Symetron if the word "boomer" has been suddenly redefined to mean "a millenial that isnt completely self-absorbed and actually gives a s*** about the human race", then yes. I guess I would fit that definition.

John Campbell, we sure do appreciate your disparaging remarks about the US in each video. And in return we hereby offer you more useful information, like we have 6-7 times in prior videos. This video is Dr Grace talking about anti-virals: hydroxychloroquine and the other one was Ectemera. 8:05 regarding the elderly and risk, this Dr. says, in general, it is not the weakness of the elderly's immune systems, rather it is the "maturity" of their immune systems that is causing problems. A mature immune system fights back very strongly, too strongly (and I think that's the cytokine storm that can damage the lungs). 815 He says hydroxychloroquine is not just an inhibitor of the virus RNA replication but also an immunosuppressant (inferring it inhibits the cytokine storm.) 844 in fact he states exactly that: in China chloroquine is cutting down the inflammatory, cytokine storm. I got the impression azithromycin works to counteract the reduction of the immune system. I stopped listening at that point to send my brothers in the U.K. this info, even if you are ignoring it. ua-cam.com/video/oD1MtYXZvu8/v-deo.html I'd recommend you take half an hour to determine the supplies of these drugs in the UK. You'll probably find that doctors in the UK are already using these, but if not, maybe you should recommend conducting trials on your worst cases. All right uploaded my own video for the first time, but some other smart Brit might want to thumb it up to raise the level of this relatively important comment so that others might see it.
I am VERY embarrassed by my fellow Americans on those Florida beaches right now. Florida is going to pay big time for that. The country has a very high population of older people.
Michele T “ENTITLEMENT”. But they didn’t get that way by themselves (my daughters once reminded me). “it’s what you chose to do when you don’t have to that makes you what you are when you can’t help it!”
Was just as worse on the Texas coast but in a way even worse....spring break on Texas coast is more of a family affair. Moms, Dads, and their kids were packing the beaches and restaurants. Finally the governor shut it down last night. You have to wonder if these people have any functioning brain cells!

COVID-19 has moved through my household already, at the beginning of March. Everyone is better now, but I just want to say to young people, you are not exempt. My 18-yr old daughter was sick for a week and still has a little bit of a cough after two weeks. She had sore throat, cough, runny nose, painful sinus headache, body aches, extreme fatigue, and heavy pressure in her chest right behind her sternum. All of this over the course of one week. She is extremely healthy: healthy body weight, no immuno-compromises, eats healthy food, exercises 5 days a week before school, hardly ever gets sick. And she got sick with this. Better review your priorities. Your health should come before fun.

Jamie E not to sound naive but we’re you all formally tested positive ? I know that not many have had access to tests and if you’re not critically ill I’ve heard testing is almost impossible.
That sounds like the same symptoms I have had for over a week. In fact it is about the same symptoms I had the prior year and the year before that. I always thought it was just a bad cold, who knew it was a carnivorous virus.
Dr Campbell, I know you are a busy man but I hope you read my comment, I want to thank you for doing these videos, because of them I see how serious our situation is, my parents where coming over earlier this week to help me with finances, but I called them off and told them to stay at home, not one day later a person in a building next to mine was diagnosed with the Corona virus, the situation could have been so much worse had I not told my parents to stay home I wanted to thank you for that, hopefully you realize that people are heeding your call Take care
I’m embarrassed at the selfishness my generation is portraying. Their thought process and actions are so incredibly toxic that I literally can’t get myself to understand them. They are adult children. Truly.
Yup. I'm 29 and feel embarrassed by my generation. I've felt embarrassed long before the virus but it's gotten worse. No one is taking this seriously. Parents and kids are having play dates and sleep overs or they just dont believe it. I live in a tiny town and people seem to think we will be fine. Foolish. We ha e a charter school and kids come from all over. Theres no testing where I live. I've had a fever and felt like crap for days. My body feels like I was hit by a semi. I hope it's just allergies or the common cold.
Lemons I agree. I think they just don’t fully understand the full impact of their actions. We need more info like Dr John provides. And the support our government doesn’t seem to be able to provide.

Crazee Kids likewise, never underestimate their ability to pull together and do remarkable things when necessary. Also, never underestimate the ab ility of,the mass media to amplify the relatively rare bizarre and anti social acts at the expense of summarising how much altruism is around. One person, shooting another is news. 1000 people sharing meals is not. While the media are endlessly focusing on hoarding toilet paper, I,see in my neighbourhood, people organising distribution of vegetable seedlings. Almost anyone can grow something- some more than others. But fresh food is important, and looking after a small crop is something to relish( if you have to stay at home. Loads of things like this happening if we care to look past the sensational stories. While they might be true, they give a warped view of the world, and only inspire apathy.
Tom Wessling some beaches did not comply, mine didn’t. They did however close the beaches, bars and resturants after spring break was over. So now I get a fine going into MY back yard.... poorly handled!
They should have just shot the idiots on the beach with rock salt and run them off. I live down here. . The transients and younger folk are still not taking this seriously
I don’t think people realize most are full when they say the number of hospital beds in your area. I worked for a hospital and I remember looking for beds for patients and having to move pp to find a bed. It is like that game Rush hour. You have to move one person here to make room for one person here because you can’t put that person with that guy and so now we can take the guy from the ER and put him in that bed. That is the reason why people sit in the Er so long when they are going to be admitted. Some people are waiting for morning so a bed will open after people are discharged. That is every day. Seriously, when you think about hospitals think of them as 95% full before the pandemic started.

I'm in the same boat and am struggling mentally to leave the house for every shift. I need to find ways to keep myself calm as we are still in the early days of this.
I am sorry that you are in that situation. Please try and take as many precautions as you can try to get at least 7 to 8 hours of sleep every night to give your immune system a chance to fight this virus.
I keep finding to do lists, or receipts with dates on them from before COVID-19 and try to remember that day, however banal and unremarkable it was and remember what it was like to have unremarkable days.
And all of this could have been avoided if planes had been grounded dead weeks ago. Yes, there would have been significant economic impact in doing so, but now the economic damage is going to be infinitely worse.

It's a hard job to deal with we are talking about locking up millions of individuals with different mindsets.. You are talking about it like every single human being has the same mindset and are willing to go trough things the same way as everyone else. It's good that a majority listens to them but they still have to deal with millions who don't. So the best me you and everyone else following on to this is to tell people that are ''ignorant'' not to go outside if not necessary and to follow the guidelines.
@@kimpoulsen4163 I agree up to a point, because humans be random, lol. However, a large part of the government's responsibility is herding people in organized ways. They have a responsibility to inform the public in a timely manner. Their fear of causing a panic led them to be too conservative about getting the news out. Or maybe in the US it was because Trump did not believe the virus was anything but a flu, despite what scientists say? Either way, I believe that if they had informed the public in a calm way right from the start, people would have started preparing much sooner. Watching what was happening in China, they should have been producing masks and medical supplies, test kits, and training ICU staff months ago. Sadly, they failed us. Yes, many might not have taken it seriously, but if even half of us did, many lives would have been saved. It is the nature of exponential growth...

I wonder why he doesn't mention the new cluster discovered in Birmingham, northern England, where they held a huge international dog show two weeks ago...CRUFTS. Dogs, owners, spectators from all over the world congregated in Birmingham conference centre for a bout a week......
I'm from the US. I don't understand why you in the UK simply don't drink tonic water (83 mg/L of quinine) and eat 16mg of Zinc (8 ounces to 16 ounces of red meat or a bowl of curry) to prevent an infection from the virus? The quinine allows the zinc to enter cells so the virus can't replicate and the quinine also makes the cells alkaline killing the virus (technically denaturing the viral rna inhibiting replication of more virus).
I work in a Gas Station in the Permian Basin (Texas). 🙄🤦♀️ It’s only a matter of time before I get it at this point. But my Company has announced it will offer 2 weeks full paid leave to anyone who confirms they get it. Regardless if tenure or full or part time. We now wear gloves handling money, no longer offer self pump coffee cream, and straws. All straws are behind the counter and we hand them out. They said we can hire someone to be a “door greeter and sanitizer person for each store”. 🤯 We are so out of bread, toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning sprays, cases of water, and cheap Romen it’s not funny. Even in the summer heat we don’t sell that much money. Deliveries are late because the ware house can’t keep up with demand. Employees there are doing 15-17 hour days trying to keep up with demand. To think a month ago everyone was “annoyed” by me talking about this virus in China.
Will you get paid sick leave if you can't get tested? I am just about over what I believe was COVID-19, but could not get tested because I did not come in contact with a confirmed case. I tried several times, as I had the exact symptoms, was negative for influenza, and there were cases in my area. Luckily I was able to stay home, but now I can't prove I had it, and I was quite ill for 4 weeks. I hope companies realize how important it is for people to stay home if they have any respiratory illness at all, because that last thing we need right now is to weaken people with the flu on top of everything else.

In Houston, Texas, the 4th largest city in the United States, as far as I can tell, not only are all bars and restaurants shut down inside until further notice but almost ALL retail store fronts are operating with vastly reduced hours of operation if they're open at all. Harris County, with its 1,777 mi², has a grand total of 24 confirmed cases, 24 out of a population of 12.5 million. The only store in the entire city that is open 24 hrs is CVS Drugstore. Everything else is shut down by 10pm at the latest. A handful of fast food restaurants have their drive-thrus open late. The vast majority of the Houston metropolitan statistical area, 12.5 million people, are frozen in place. Hard to imagine that Houstonians will be able to suffer economic isolation for long - but then, it was hard for me to imagine they could break away from consumption at all and yet there they are, at home, not working, not going to school, not consuming and not venturing out at all. Thank you. Best, N ~

I warned my family of 9 that we needed to prepare and stock up a month ago when this was still “no cause for concern” they ignored me and said that it’s no worse than the flu. I turned into the conspiracy theorist for stating statistics, data, and studies that were coming from those that are reputable and and most reliable that study epidemiology, virology etc.10+ years to be able to give a VALID opinion. Tried to explain the impending crisis that will likely happen with the influx of patients in hospitals leaving others that need care to then die from because they aren’t able to get treatment. All speculation of course, no evidence for what I’m saying YET. Houston is going to be the biggest cause for concern whenever it spreads exponentially. They're literally doing the opposite of what they should which is extend store hours and assign quadrants to the surrounding neighborhood so that people come in in shifts and shop at safe 2m distances and are checked out by unexhausted staff who aren't continually faced with black Friday groundhog day. Love the British dry sense of humor. Insulting without seeming insulting. Here in US our factories could retool and start making needed items. Why is this not happening ? Because our fearless leader is paper tiger, all talk, no action, sitting with arms folded and resentful look on his face during news conferences. The body language says it all! According to the Pennsylvania Health Secretary, “We are still seeing a significant number of young adults, even in their 20s, 30s and 40s who have required hospitalization,” she said. “So it’s very important for young adults not to be complacent.” Many of the cases here are in younger people!
There are two reasons for those young adult to be complacent -- both of them bad: 1) they just don't believe public health announcements/instructions 2) they are innumerate, not understanding statistics well enough to know that even if older patients are more vulnerable, COVID-19 kills a few of the young, too. But it will kill more than just a few if the young have been vaping. They don't understand what damage that does to their lungs.
Because the governments spent the early days downplaying it and telling the public its just the flu, nothing to worry about, only affects old frail etc Sadly most people will only take it seriously when it kills someone in their own family or social circle. When in a drought, we have watering schedules. We need the same thing for buying groceries, I’m afraid. Too many people in close spaces at stores. Just an observation.
I only visit shops within the first half hour of opening. We have a 24 hour 7 day place, I was there at 1am. Still a lot of people there, I was freaked out that they just didn't understand social distancing either. I have bought more tinned food than usual to reduce the frequency with which I have to visit the shops. Not hoarding, self isolating.
We have that in At least part of the US - grocery pickups at scheduled times, on future dates - where the store collects food from a list submitted online.

I so agree if we had have banned all flights from China in February here in Italy we would be in a better place now. Sure it would have arrived anyway sooner or later. Problem is how could we have stopped people from other European countries coming in ? I mean Asians could have arrived say in Frankfurt and then get another flight to Italy. Dr John - you’ve just cleaned your phone at 5:40 “with anti viral wipes”. From where on earth did you get them?? Not only have I never seen or heard of an antiVIRAL wipe, I haven’t been able to buy in any supermarket or Pharmacist, the common AntiBACTERIAL wipes, which I thought were the only ones ever. PLEASE give us information on this. I do realise it’ll be impossible to buy them just now, with the stockpilers at work, but maybe later. And you saying weeks ago ‘hand sanitiser gel must be with 60%-70% alcohol”. Nowhere in uk have I ever found any gel with any alcohol. It’s driving me mad that I just don’t know about these. PLEASE NAME THE BRANDS!
Margaret, I think he meant anti-bacterial wipes. I'm assuming they are the same as anti-viral. As for hand sanitiser, they all give a percentage of active ingredient on the bottle, often ethanol, and that's the alcohol level. I think it needs to be above 60% to be effective, ideally higher if you can get it.
Ann Hove hello Ann. But I’m afraid Dr John has said, it seems months ago, that it’s not! - that antibacterial anything will not kill the virus. It has to be antivirus and they are very rare. All sanitisers are antibacterial..Which was why I was asking him where on earth did he find anti viral?! But he’s obviously so busy he can never reply. Yes he definitely said re the alcohol it must be minimum of 60% preferably 70%. But thank you for telling me that Ethanol is what to look for in the ingredients.....IF I had a bottle! But they sold out in the very first days, and not been seen since.

We all need to help each other through this crisis. Feel good knowing that you are able to make a difference in people's lives who are even more afraid than you or I.
Those providing food for us need to be protected well--with gloves, masks, goggles, protective clothing. That includes farmers, food warehouse workers, truckers and delivery personnel! And they need to make double their salary!

I heard rich people in Ukraine bought ventilators in their houses. It's disgusting. You need a whole team to make it work
I wish there was more I could do to help.

Grateful, she offered to reimburse the clerk for his expense, but he would not accept anything in return, saying simply, "Don't be silly, love."
May we all show such generosity and good will to our neighbors in this, our time of greatest need.

This video is Dr Grace
talking about anti-virals: hydroxychloroquine and the other one was Ectemera.
815 He says hydroxychloroquine is not just an inhibitor of the virus RNA replication but also an immunosuppressant (inferring it inhibits the cytokine storm.)
844 in fact he states exactly that: in China chloroquine is cutting down the inflammatory, cytokine storm.
I got the impression azithromycin works to counteract the reduction of the immune system. I stopped listening at that point to send my brothers in the U.K. this info, even if you are ignoring it.

Gerneration Z and millennials are causing it. I am a millennial but a responsible one.
Why do you dislike boomers so?
@Hansel Franzen Wow and you enjoy your cell phone, until your time comes which is on the horizon ..by the way why you watch a "old man " tell you the truth ? I guess swallowing all those Tide pods caused brain damage.
Never underestimate the stupidity and selfishness of humans.
People so want to see the best in people and remain blind to reality!
So good you said it,in Romania the animals didn't respect tje quarantine rules and I am afraid we will become in the next 3 weeks something like Italy, army nedeed and cities lockdown no more options for us.
Amen!
When you make statements like that, you do realize that you are talking about yourself as well... Right?

Dr Campbell was on the case 5-6 weeks before the government! What a brilliant man! 👏👏👏👏🙏
@@wildflower1397 It's not that they are slow it's the fact that not everyone are as willing to follow theese guidelines and the governments have to know how to deal with this right and not cause riots and outbreaks of panic amongst their people.

@@michaelwillette8888 Isn't it such genius to truncate store hours and jam everyone into a much smaller shopping window so that they all panic buy and sweat, cough, sneeze and breathe all over each other every time they go to the grocery store and then bring back virus to the home. They're literally doing the opposite of what they should which is extend store hours and assign quadrants to the surrounding neighborhood so that people come in in shifts and shop at safe 2m distances and are checked out by unexhausted staff who aren't continually faced with black Friday groundhog day.

According to the Pennsylvania Health Secretary, “We are still seeing a significant number of young adults, even in their 20s, 30s and 40s who have required hospitalization,” she said. “So it’s very important for young adults not to be complacent.” Many of the cases here are in younger people!
Sherry Lynn typically smokers and vape
how is that even possible with just over 2000 cases
Govt should have been honest from the start and used time to prepare.

what im trying to say is, its not that hard to get over it for most, imagen even me, that has health issues which are risk factor for complications, so if you are young and healthy even if you get it you have a great chance to go through it easier than me. I so agree if we had have banned all flights from China in February here in Italy we would be in a better place now. Sure it would have arrived anyway sooner or later.
