The comic you talk about is Classic Star Wars 17
The splat scene is from Futurama I think
I know that this is "space"dock, but it'd be cool if you made an episode on Subterrenes and subterranean technology like in Gears Of War, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, and The Core
it would be cool if you did a video about the lighthuggers of the revelation space universe. I am a massive fan of that and would be happy to help if needed .
I never did like the centerline cannon over the canopy. It makes far more sense to centerline it under the fuselage.
Seriously
Or have two along both side of the fuselage. That way you would still have four cannons, like the X-wing.
A double cannon under the fuselage would be far more efficient and effective. If one shot hits, so will the other, and the port/starboard are probably close enough, the average TIE will get hot by three or four in a single fire-linked shot.
The reason the third cannon was over the canopy is the proton torpedo launcher was on the underside. If the E-W was more of an escort, wouldn't it be better with twin launchers like the X-Wing but specialized for concussion missiles?
Another video on the E-wing points out it would blind the pilot every time it is fired. Unless the canopy has some way of protecting the pilot, the pilot wouldn't be able to see the enemy well enough to take a second shot.
@@MrQuantumInc I'm not convinced the canopy and pilot's helmet provide enough eye protection to shield the pilot. Most fighters have their main blasters at the side wingtips or below. The Jedi Actis-2 benefits from the Jedi having supernatural senses, so they may not have the same problems with having cannons causing visual impairment.
I've seen model builders swap the top cannon for a Y-Wing style ion cannon turret for the droid to operate.
It really makes the fighter more versatile in that it can fend off enemy fighters lining up a shot from behind.
That’s a great idea!
A rotating turret with a ion cannon would make the E-Wing a dogfighting god, as the Astromech could paralyse any enemy unshielded fighter above the horizontal plain of the E-Wing and at least damage the shield of a shielded ship.
That would result in a change in tactics as the pilot would try and rotate the E-Wing during a dogfight to give the turret a clear shot... for once spinning would be a good trick!
@@casbot71 Yeah, it makes the E-Wing more akin to my personal favorite, the Skipray Blastboat- only much smaller.
The comic you remember was the Rebel evacuation of Yavin IV, the Imperials had a near impregnable block thus the Rebels were trapped. Leia led the Rebel fleet around a nearby star to make a break for it. Vader's Executor was waiting for them there, but in a stroke of poor tactics and Imperial arrogance, Adm. Griff (in charge of the Imperial blockade) made a poorly calculated hyperspace jump and splattered across the newly repaired Executor. Thus allowing the Alliance to escape
You put the legend back in Legends
Was looking for this in case it needed to exist. Well done, sir.
I always felt the E-Wing had a bit of an F-4 Phantom inspiration in it, especially since early F-4's were delivered without a machine gun and had issues as a "air to air missiles" only fighter, in a similar way that Legends had the E-Wing struggling with their blasters and R7 droids. I am excited to see how the new series makes use of the ships.
You can almost tell they'll be an episode where Chopper is the astromech in the E Wing. Question is who's the pilot is, Sendulla or Ren?
Ah yes, those air-to-air missiles seemingly designed by the same group who were responsible for WW2's Mk.14 torpedo.
@@MonkeyJedi99A lot of it was poor handling by ground crews
@@oco8783 And according to the Bureau of Ordinance, the Mk.14 failure rate, once they finally started acknowledging it, was the fault of the sub crews "using it wrong".
The F-4 were never delivered with machine guns they were, however eventually equipped with an M-61 rotary cannon.
Gonna be honest, I have always kinna thought the E-Wing looked like a knock-off Viper from Battlestar. 😅
Although, it does definitely have more personality in the live action clips we have seen. The gimballing in the high detail model gives it more of that Star Wars feel that doesn't really come across in the comic illustrations.
I was happy to see the E-Wing get the attention it finally deserved.
It seems in the case of the Ahsoka series that the E-Wing is more of an attempt to replace the A-Wing rather than the X-Wing. The New Republic didn't hesitate to keep working with the X-Wing (With the T-85 being the newest), but you don't really see A-Wings, except in the Resistance, as older starfighters. It might be possible that the E-Wing (which may be state-of-the-art new in the series) is designed to eventually phase out the A-Wing entirely.
I always saw the X-wing as a (relatively) inexpensive multi-role fighter. The E-wing seems more like a space superiority fighter. The projectile systems seem like an afterthought or a bolt-on system thrown in at the end; kind of like how the F-22 Raptor was ‘upgraded’ for ground attack when that was never an intended mission.
The A-Wing in the Resistance is a "new" model I believe. Whats more likely is that the E-Wing got cut because of reduced budget and upgraded versions of already existing designs were just cheaper.
@montithered4741 The F-22 was always designed with some air-to-ground ability in mind, just not much. A better example might be the F-14, F-15 or F-16. The F-15, in particular, was designed under the principle "not a pound for air to ground."
@@jeffbenton6183 you forgot about the F-18.
@@jeffbenton6183 Funny thing about the "not a pound for air-to-ground" thing with the F-15...
It's not entirely true: The F-15 was fully capable of not only dropping standard unguided bombs, but also had the wiring to carry/drop GBU-8/15 HOBOS (Electro-optically guided bombs). There are images floating around out there of an early F-15A in US service having GBU-8s.
While the US never actively used F-15s to drop bombs, other nations did, namely Israel and Saudi Arabia.
The F-14 was also fully capable of carrying unguided bombs (and was directly integrated into the fire control system), but was never actively used (as far as I am aware).
I would honestly say that a better example of a technologically advanced/expensive equivalent would probably be the Convair F-106 Delta Dart, since it was designed purely for air-to-air (albeit bomber interception) and used as such for its entire military service career.
If I were to change the design of the legends E-Wing a bit, I would move the top laser cannon back so it's not over the cockpit canopy, and make it a rotating turret controlled by either the pilot (only allowing it to fire forward or backward) or the astromech (allowing varying vectors of fire) like the VCX-100 Auxiliary craft. Still an amazing ship though
Moving it back means when fired at the same time, the blasts won't impact simultaneously, as many fighters seem to prefer for maximum effect.
@@Euripides_Panz on the other hand, leaving it forward almost certainly interferes with the most likely path for pilot ejection
@MercenaryPen It's a liability. There would be a short delay when the barrel breaks away or blown off, neither sound great concerning the type of weapon. Then the canopy goes. Then the pilot goes, or dies, whichever comes first. How does the Droid eject? I might have read somewhere but don't recall. It sure doesn't look like the whole section is a lifepod that breaks away.
A rotating turret (with presumably a shorter barrelled weapon) would make the E-Wing a dogfighting god, as the Astromech could take out any enemy unshielded Tie above the horizontal plain of the E-Wing and at least damage a shielded ship.
That would result in a change in tactics as the pilot would try and rotate the E-Wing during a dogfight to give the turret a clear shot... for once spinning would be a good trick!
I'm convinced that the ONLY reason the E-wing was originally designed with that top mounted cannon was because someone desperately wanted the fighter to look like an E
I guess I'll still have to wait for the Æ-Wing.
i think the story that has the star destroyers splatting on the Executor's shields is "race for survival" by Archie Goodwin
That's exactly right! The newspaper strips, reprinted by Dark Horse in trade paperback/graphic novel format.
That's the one!
- hoojiwana from Spacedock
The E-Wing was always my favorite Extended Universe fighter as a kid. I loved the silhouette that its wings make, and I was fascinated by the idea of the Star Wars universe evolving after the movies I loved so much. Also, although it's a dumb design choice, I thought the compatibility with only R7s was a cool bit of worldbuilding.
It could be a very good design choice. The implication is that they wanted the astromech to do more than an R2 or and R5 could handle. Granted there is a certain R2 unit out there that can do bloody ANYTHING, but that's a bit of edge case and is not representative of the whole line. :-)
@@grimlock1471Mind, that R2 unit spent an inordinate amount of time in the hands of a certain jedi apprentice who could build a starship if he had enough materials, and built a protocol Droid for his mother out of scraps.
I really like the E- wing from a worldbuilding perspective, showing the difficulties of making and operating a new fighter craft, I loved the R7 - E-Wing dynamic in particular, but I never cared for its visual design personally.
"Sir, maybe we should stop basing our ship designs on this weird alphabet you came up with?"
"You're fired!"
I seem to recall E-wings had better atmospheric flight profiles of any mass-produced fighter so they became popular in a lot of Planetary Militias after the Trawn Campaign.
As much of a soft spot I have for the E-Wing (Happy it’s back by the way). The removal of the top laser cannon just made since. Even the artists realized it when you look at how the canopy opens.
The idea of the R7 being required at introduction and later iterations relaxing that requirement is a nice touch. That often happens in real life engineering projects, especially cutting edge ones. The real meat of the new development is in all those advanced systems. Cost could be cut by allowing greater compatibility and trying to figure out "how low can you go" with cheaper astromechs, but if you prioritize launching the product faster you can just pick something expensive that you're absolutely sure will do the job. Initial units are always very expensive anyway and costs go down over time through volume so it makes sense to do those type of cost cutting projects later.
While not being as popular as the X-Wing, the E-Wing is still a great starfighter and I'm glad that it's returning in Ashoka.
And thinking about it, the Centerfire cannon wasn't really a good idea when most starfighters only need 2 canonns, so it's removal for Ashoka is a definite positive for the new design.
The E-Wing also has another "Doctrinal" anscestor of sorts, the T-Wing, officially unrelated, it's still got that "Interceptor speeds with Torpedo Ordinance" niche that matches the E-Wing's strikefighter role.
I love how every so often they realized they had to draw the cockpit open and never did the same thing each time. Sometimes, as in the image here, the laser appear to swivel up. Others it moves to the side or swings out on a panel. And still other times the canopy just clips through it.
My head cannon was always that the canopy slid forward
My idea was that the pilot climbed into it from a bottom hatch (some fighters but mostly bombers or strike planes have this access method in real life) or the seat lowered from above and brought the pilot up like an elevator.
Given how most X-Wings were essentially handmade by bush-pilot airstrips, good-ol'-boy garages, and gray- or black-market chop shops, it wouldn't surprise me if the first few runs of E-Wings were designed with that in mind, and had a lot more variation than we'd expect an IRL fighter to have. Any or all of those variations in how a particular fighter opened the cockpit could be canon.
That last pic at least answered how pilots get in and out of the ship. Thank you for that
I always liked the harsh lines of these ships, very squared off and "Star Wars"
The R7 requirement is something I really wish they had done more with and hope they include in Ashoka because the design of the R7 is just so, well, neat!
(Even though they probably won't)
You could also make a plot point where they have to find an R7 before they can fly away.
@@MrQuantumInc In the EU, Luke briefly had to replace R2-D2 with R7-T6(?) but it wasn't as significant of a plot point as it should have been IMO
I'm pretty sure the star destroys coming out of hyperspace and splatting on the executor's Shields is from the original marvel comics but I'm not sure which issue
Marvel dark empire I think. The eclipse I think ( superstar destroyer )
@@shanenolan5625 no he was asking about the comic where a group of star destroyers come out of hyperspace and crash into the shields of the executor which is the original marvel run I'm pretty sure
@@sammywhite5127 oh I thought marvel did a sort of graphic novel version of the book. ( I remember some art work )
@@shanenolan5625 dark empire was never a book it was always a comic book and it was made by dark horse not marvel
@@sammywhite5127 it was actually and they made an audiobook version as well . ( dark empire)
I like the look of the canon E-wing, but I wish it had those extra wing-struts from the legends one, somehow made the ship look way more sturdy. The way the wings swept down made me think of things like attack helicopters, like how you can hang additional weapons under those wings.
The E-wing and K-wing bomber both played prominent roles in the Black Fleet Crisis trilogy.
Dont remember what the comic was called other than being part of the classic era rereleased by Dark Horse, but I do know the admiral in charge was Admiral Griff - its his star destroyer that whacks into the Executor.
THIS IS IT! Classic Star Wars! Wow thanks!

On the off chance you're looking for more starfighters from Legends comics, can I cast a vote for the Sienar Predator from Legacy? It's one of my favorite Star Wars ship designs in one of my favorite Star Wars series.
(Its GFFA and Jedi analogues, the Incom CF9 Crossfire and X-83 Twintail are also cool, but they get far less screen time than the Predator, as none of the main characters fly them)
If you're interested in the nineties comics, I super enjoyed the Tales of the Jedi comics that inspired BioWare's Knights of the Old Republic. Though it doesn't do a ton with ships, so if that is your main focus, you might not enjoy it as much.
It's always looked a bit odd with the center mounted gun.
Looks like a mashup of a Viper and a Star Trek shuttle
Ah legends, I mean real Star Wars
honestly I like the canopy gun, it makes it distinct in more than just shape, with 3 guns over an even 2 or 4 on a fighter
I hope the one in Ahsoka is not the main line. More of a personalized e wing.
Disney doesn’t have to bastardize everything.
Im kinda scared what they are going to do in the series. Especially if they are taking things from Mando season 3 and 2.5.
You know, this is one of the things the Mouse did right by removing.
I always found the dorsal cannon mount to be really stupidly placed. That lance of a barrel sticking out of the top fuselage also happens to cover the pilot's canopy.
So you get a wonderful effect of blinding yourself with the muzzle flash when you fire *and* it just physically blocks the canopy from opening all the way, so you're fucked if you want to eject.
It's not my favorite EU ship, but I do like it. I like that it's an in universe evolution of spacecraft. I like seeing that kind of thing. ARC-170s -> X-wings -> E-Wings. One of the biggest let downs for me as a ship nerd was the Sequel X-Wings that were so similar, as though nothing happened in those intervening years. I know, I know, the Republic dismantled its forces. That doesn't mean shipwrights weren't making new things.
To be fair, today's most recent models of the F-15 and F-16 look even closer to the original models; and, those aircraft were first produced right after the Vietnam War. I think that more time has actually passed for the real-world fighters than in the time-line for the X-Wings.
K-Wing next!
You should do a video about the TIE Predator class fighters that the Fel Empire had.
Technically the Legend E-Wing maybhave been intended to co.e out at the tail.end of the Thrawn Campaign, but didn't *_really_* come on the scene till the Clone Emperor campaigns.
I think I prefer the more clinical style of Ship Breakdowns, but you seem to be having fun with this style, so either way
The clinical breakdowns are the soul of this channel and what got it to this point. I don’t know if analytically it’s sustainable to always do the clinical breakdowns but given the recent lack of any breakdowns, I feel like it does a disservice to the channel to stray away from them.
I, like many others, never really liked the top center line mounted cannon, but that torpedo loadout is vicious, especially when combined with its speed.
I love the E Wing.
My favorite New Republik fighter.
Ahsoka... "My face is tired."
I will be interested in seeing it make a debut in live action, and it does seem improved somewhat. I never liked that dorsal laser cannon, especially since it's directly in the way of the canopy and needed to be bent directly up for the pilot to get out. Two heavier cannons should be adequate.
I don't like the overall design as much as the X-Wing (though I prefer it over the newer variants in Disney productions), but I do love it nonetheless. Glad to see it get some recognition, even if I still hate this idea of Disney cherry-picking content from the EU after ignoring, dismissing, and trashing it for all these years.
A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one
I never liked the cannon over the canopy. And that comic image (2:30) of how it's supposed to open (as well as how the astromech is enclosed) looks like a complete pain to reassemble/reconnect every time the E-Wing is idling around, let alone trying to prepare it for takeoff.
Confession: I hate Dark Empire. I hate the "another magical super weapon to destroy planets", I hated the "world devastators" wondering from where the heck the Empire made them and suddenly had them invading the galaxy, and I hated the cloned Emperor idea, god, I hate it so much. I was glad that Disney was going to erase most of the Expanded Universe as long as the stupid clones, ships built out of nowhere, and planet-destroying tropes were gone with them... Yes, I know. The joke's on me. The goddamn joke is on me.
Well, at least Dark Empire actually has an explanation of how Palpatine got cloned in the plot and not "somehow."
First heard about the E wing way back pre special edition starwars movies when I got a starwars book on starwars vehicles and the comics and the novels I read
Just watched the first 2 episodes of Ahsoka. Off to a decent start though I know through the whole season I'll be asking, Why doesn't she call in Luke?
But I REALLY liked the E-Wings in the first episode and I've never liked the E-Wing.
A nice video, however I think I prefer your old style of break downs, as opposed to this one....
Hope your day is excellent!!
Big fan of the E-wing. I was into Dark Empire when it was coming out. Lots of fond memories.
Next time give a spoiler alert before you show scenes of a TV show that has not even been released yet. Yes, they may be from the previews alone, but I am avoiding previews and such because I actually want to be surprised and enjoy the show, not be shown some of the best parts beforehand!
Im less of a fan of the newer style that's more chatty and casual. Don't get me wrong it's fun hearing your thoughts and opinions on stuff but one thing i always loved about the old style was it felt like it could be an in universe documentary.
Maybe you could compromise and have a dedicated personal thoughts bit at the end or do like an acomanying shorts video that has your own thoughts (all hail the algorithum may it bless us with content)
Marvel comics 77 is the comic your thinking off where the star destroyers slam into the executor
I was only half paying attention when I opened the video and I thought it was a Metanerdz video and I only realized during the outro that I had expected a metanerdz video and hadn’t got one ( I knew it was spacedpck as soon as it started but I didn’t question it until the end)
Always felt like the E-wing could be improved if top middle cannon was replaced with full rotating 360 laser either in same place above canopy or underneath so it could have improved range of fire both offensively and defensively.
Loved the new format
I always wondered if the wings were supposed to hinge up when landing because of the strut on the top of the wing. I think it would have been cool and saved a lot of hanger space. I do questioned why the E-Wing required an R7 astromech since it doesn’t seem to be any more complex a fighter than an X-Wing. It would be like having a car that required a new Mac book Uber ultra pro to connect just to drive around. Still it will be nice to see in canon.
If the laser cannon on top was something like an Ion Cannon turret, and was independently controlled by said astromech, it would make more sense.
If I remember the R7 was there to improve hyperspace navigation and therefore range
Side note: The R7 astromech droid series is not related to the R7-A7 droid that Ahsoka (whose new show introduced the E-Wing to modern canon) used in the Clone Wars series.
I personally always hated the idea of the E-Wing replacing the X-Wing and was glad to see the Xj introduced.
E-wing pilot: "Grandpa! Check out these new E-wing fighters the Alliance Navy issued us! They have the armor of an X-wing, but the speed of an A-wing!"
GCW veteran X-wing pilot: "That things a damn gimmick, sonny! You won't be shooting down nothing with those underpowered laser cannons. That's why you need three of them! There's a reason all us old-timers still swear by our trusty X-wings and R2 units. We really gave them Imps hell!"
I was alway a fan of the E-Wing I hope to see it in action in the future
Buying the LEGO set in less than 2 weeks now i will be able to add the cannon on the top, like in the original Dark Empire comics!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't help but wonder if the centerline cannon wouldn't be blinding the pilot all the time or otherwise interfering with vision... it's one of the difficulties that some WWI dogfighters reported when flying at night when their guns were mounted right in front of them. Their own machine gun muzzle flashes would be blinding to them.
Dark Empire may be a bit zany but it had do many cool ship ideas.
Unfortunately the E-Wing is the victim of the "Rocket sled syndrome". It really needs a third engine at the top to balance it out.
I first saw the E-Wing in the first Star Wars vehicle book, and loved it. I think the third laser-cannon should have been mounted under the nose for a cleaner appearance if you're going to have 3. Otherwise, just going with two on the wings looks good. Going to dig seeing this in Ahsoka hopefully tonight.
Personally i don´t like the central cannon, but overall the fighter looks good and interesting.
It certainly has potential, as it fuses the strength of X-Wing and A-Wing, yet it also has its own unique flaws.
16 torpedoes is a LOT, give that the X-Wing carries only 6.
I never was q fan of the Legends version of the E-wing just because that center mounted gun looked so silly
100 kilos of cargo. Light freighter!
Its not a space fighter, but can you cover the Cfa-44 Nosferatu from the Ace Combat series?
Who else wanted to see the e-wing in the new star wars trilogy? It wouldn't have saved it, but it still would have been nice to see.
More iconic new ship designs in general would have been nice.
@@andersonic Should've had the Sith Eternal fleet be a much smaller number of Eclipse-class Super Star Destroyers instead of the giant fleet of ridiculously lazy Xyston-class (which are literally just the Rogue One shooting model of the ISD1 with a different paintjob and a gun strapped to the belly).
Ah yes, the great letter broth of space-planes
..The XJ X wings weren't standard for New Republic forces if I remember correctly, they were a model specifically made for Jedi, replaced/supplemented by the stealth X-wing as well. The later model X-wings seemed to have closed the gap with the advantages the E-wing had over older models but from what I got was the X-wing was kept around seemingly for it's better modulebility(sp?) and the like?
Ive always been kinda iffy on the looks of the E wing from comics, it always looked too boxy and just odd to be the replacement for the X wing, but the new design looks absolutely gorgeous. They slimmed the frame a bit and deleted the 3rd gun which makes it look more well balanced while still looking fast and mean. It looks like it would be the king of air superiority fighters. The only addition I would give to it is folding wings like US carrier fighters, it just looks like it should be able to fold them out for takeoff
Great work Spacedock! So happy to see the E-wing in canon now.
Aesthetically I feel like the third cannon would look better slung underneath (instead of sticking out on top)... either way, we know Star Wars ships *love* unnecessarily moving bits just for the sake of moving bits and S-foils to look cool locking into attack position, maybe we'll see an attack sequence where these E-Wings have the third cannon emerge out in a similar fashion?
Btw, which comics are being used in the video for the E-Wing and B-Wing attacks? I wanna read those now
Main Ship on the X-Wing Miniatures Game, hell of a ship and if piloted well, a force to be reckon with
Hey I did a video about this as well. But I'm not as high speed low drag as space dock is. Roll on Space Dock.
So essentially the design team of the E-wing combined the X-WING with the A-wing.
Cheers from Washington, Spacedock!
Getting out of the cockpit seems like a nightmare
It's a shame that the E-wing fighter didn't appear in the more recent Star Wars films.
Every time they make these Astromech Droids they miss out on a huge "homage" opportunity.... They should name them an R10 series....as the backseat crew in fighters are called Rios.
Haven't they changed from RIO (Radio/Radar Intercept Officer) to WSO (Weapons System Officer/Operator) in modern two seat fighters?
@@randlebrowne2048 depends on the aircraft but you are correct for some
I didn't even notice the E-Wing was making an appearance! So cool
The E-Wing never replaced the X-Wing, the B-Wing and K-Wing never replaced the Y-Wing, you really can't fix what's already perfect.
be real great if star wars takes a seat. bring the actual sci fi
Oh I know the comic you're talking about!
It was originally part of a newspaper series of Star Wars comics in the 80s if I recall correctly. It was collected into a graphic novel titled Classic Star Wars, and it was the second volume of that series titled Rebel Storm where an Imperial Admiral Griff was attempting to stop a Rebel escape. He jumped his star destroyers into the Executor, though it has been a while so I don't remember all the details of exactly how it transpired.
So based on cannon we go from X-Wing (original trilogy) to E-Wing (Ashoka) than back to X-Wing (sequel trilogy), all whilst Mando is running in X-Wings?
I always thought the "high-low" mix of X- and Y-Wing was based on the real-life mix of Spitfire and Hurricane. Following that line of reasoning, the mix of X- and E-Wing might have been like the real-life mix of Spitfire and Mustang .... always assuming the E-Wing was accepted as better and cooler than the X-Wing, which, as explained in the video, just ain't happenin' ...
The E-wing looks more like an downgrade then an upgrade and more like a predecessor then successor.
The E-Wing/X-Wing split reminds me of the real world split in user between F-22/F-35 fighters and the venerable F-16. F-16 are still made, supported, and *improved* upon even today. Do they match the capabilities of the F-22 or F-35? Not at all, but they are simpler, cheaper, and easier to fly and maintain. So, I buy that janky old X-Wings would still be around even though E-Wings could be used.
Seems to be a more extreme mix of the F-15 and F-16 with the high-cost/low-cost mix. The F-15 Eagle was (and by its combat record, still is) an excellent air superiority fighter, but its price tag meant the USAF couldn't buy enough airframes to fulfill all required missions without breaking the bank, so the F-16 was created to fill those gaps. Both aircraft have stupid combat records, with the F-15 being undefeated in air to air combat at 102-0.
I can buy that the E-Wing was the intended successor to the X-Wing, much like the F-22 was supposed to be for the F-15, but budget cuts meant that the X-Wing was never entirely phased out.
I also missed "Dark Empire" when it first came around, and so I first heard of this ship when I read "The Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels," around a quarter-century ago!
I agree that the cannon over the cockpit, while probably practical, doesn't look right: simply making the wing cannons double-barreled would have served at least as well.
Just curious, if they're showing the pic from the comic, why cut out the words? Is that a copyright issue or something?
Yes. It's a standard practice for UA-camrs.
With the centerline cannon in place, it's a really ugly design, tho it looks much better in "Ahsoka"
Nice to see that Cam Kennedy art again tho. Anyone unfamiliar should check out all the amazing work he did for 2000AD, before he drew Dark Empire.
The star destroyers splatting into Executor were commanded by Admiral Griff, though I don't remember the comic title.
From what I've seen in the Mandalorian, Book of Boba Fett, and now in the first two-episode of Ahsoka, the E-Wing maybe a very new starfighter that the N.R.N. can only giving them to certain systems, or the E-Wing is a chipper for local system starfighter corps then the getting X-Wings when it comes to maintenance.
Awe yes the E-wing, a purposely dumbed down design to make the venerable X-wing look good. I do wish they featured the E-wing in the sequel trilogy being used by the New Republic because its design does match the New Republic's personality of being bland and pathetic. Would have been great to see them getting curb stomped by the First Order and then saved by Resistance X-wings.
The E-wing just looks ugly to me, like a throwback to the z-95 headhunter but worse. What I really want in a fighter are the specs of a Tie Defender on something that looks more a-wing-ish.
