@La_westphilly From 3:00 to 3:09, the reporter said that when she contacted the VP of Silac, Silac immediately processed the widow's claim & sent her her check in overnight mail. ~ You're absolutely right. It was her money and they had no right to keep it from her.
Just don’t use them. Take the money you would have paid them and invest so it grows. That’s your insurance for everything. And its not more complicated than understanding your insurance.
Insurance companies are just a racket period we are forced to use. Car insurance will easily pay 50000 dollars for an accident but same company will spend twice that much to not pay a 20000 roof claim awesome.
You obviously never had to fight for money that belonged to you. This happens all time to many Americans by many different insurance companies as well as the government. They play games with people constantly. Who’s going to investigate them?
I was a Hospice RN for 17 years. We followed up with the surviving spouse for a year or more if needed giving support. So many had their documents in a mess, filling out the wrong information, missing info, putting info in the wrong spaces. Often the husband died first and he was in charge of the finances. The widow was lost in what to do, where were the papers stored, which bank or insurance company. Well worth an attorney or some knowledgeable legal aid to get the ducks in a row the first time.
⚖️ ~ Sad, when seniors have to fill out paperwork for a deceased partner themselves; especially if they are upset & grieving!!! Great work by Susan - 👏
So glad you were able to help her. How horrible for this poor woman to not be able to access her funds in a timely manner, while also trying to navigate her grief.
Death is a horrible subject to discuss, but the reporter is right in making sure you have access to and know where all the important documents are located before someone passes on.
Well done getting what was rightfully hers , but shame on Silac for turning a sad time for her into a worrying time . What was taking months can miraculously be achieved in hours , so it's not down to errors in the applications but policy . It's an especially lower species of predator that targets the elderly.
WHY?!?! Why did it take the news, a reporter with crew to have to get involve for then to just overnight it?! That’s asinine! I mean, great because, well finally, but that means they had it ready this whole time!
Late husband should've created a living trust for his wife it would bypass the courts and 3rd party companies the only middleman that should be involved is a well trusted attorney......
IMO - When one becomes older it often takes more time to tackle financial and legal issues. These companies know exactly what they are doing: preying on helpless seniors.
Why do the people have to hire a lawyer to fight for something it belong to them? Lawyer services are expensive and didnt even help in this case. Scams everywhere😢 These poor widows just missed their most loving person in their life and for life insurance to try to scam them? Not fair. I am so glad the news channel was able to help.
She needs to file a complaint with the department of treasure , they are in charge of all insurance companies.. So give them the heads up, this lady may not be the only one they try to ripped off from her husband hard earn wages, only for them to look in living luxury on other people's their hard earned savings .
I'm a financial advisor and this is extremely common. I deal with an excessive amount of paperwork and unnecessary delays - because the insurance companies don't want to pay up. Often my clients are dealing with major illnesses or even dementia. If the client didn't have a financial professional on their side pushing from all angles, their claim would likely be denied because the insurance company doesn't want to pay out.
This is one of those times where, if you have family or close friends, make sure to have them go over the paperwork before it's sent in. At a time when all you can think of missing the loved one and barely able to get out of bed, filling out paperwork is something that you don't want to do.
Doing this across the country with anyone vulnerable without attorney’s the claims are denied sometimes with assistance from a state agency by refusing documents.
hiring a lawyer just makes it take longer. indeed. the lawyer will milk it for that he can most likely. first things first: present the firm holding the money with a DEATH certificate, copy of marriage certificate & contact info of the executor of the estate. i know of a lawyer & a firm who dragged an old widow over the coals for a yr & she never gave them death certificate, cuz she said they never asked. of course not, as they all wanted to hang onto the money stream as long as possible. they just make up excuses to buy time
That's sinful. What's right with that bank anyway? You can't moraly do that to this woman. !I worry about what happens to my younger brother and what I can do to make it easy for him to access my home and money when I die. It's just crazy that this woman has to go through this kind of red tape rubberstamp debacle.
first, can she go to probate court; second, the bank will have to give the husband's savings account to the state (he is dead) and the state is going to notify her of her husband's money which she can claim, if she is able to show death certificate etc, I think.
We are going through this with Social Security right now. Women need to get their head out of the sand and be prepared for the death of their spouse. So many are confused about everything financial. I had multiple discussions with my parents about this and I was always assured they were on top of it. I kept telling my mom she needed her own credit card. I was assured she did have one. As I suspected, she was an authorized user only so the card was shut down after the death. She had no money the first few days and no credit card.
It’s the bad companies. My father died in august and by mid sept, my sister and I had my dads inheritance. All accept cash in the bank, that’s probate and take a bit.
Insurance companies are a giant ripoff especially life insurance . I could elaborate from personal experience but it would take as long as the wait for my reduced payout did .
This is why you really, really should keep cash or some liquid able assets like gold, on hand in a secure place. Only way to ensure you have total control.
This is so crazy because my mom passed away in July of this year and I'm going through the same thing with her life insurance company it's going on 5 months that I haven't seen my money yet but they tell us that it's a 6-month waiting so I hope I see my money next month or next year probably
Thats disguisting that inly bc newd channel got involve thats the only way they responded. What about the poor widows that dont know who to reach out,? That company need to be penalized so they dont do that to more victims.
Amazing how quickly they can process the claim once the Media gets involved.
That part!
This is horrible. Give this lady her money 🙏🏽

Thank you for helping her. What a helpless feeling.
Insurance companies need more supervision.
By who or what . It already is your government does that. 🤪
That would be socialism, and, apparently, people are against holding companies accountable.
Don’t say that. The incoming administration don’t like regulations
This company needs to be investigated.
You obviously never had to fight for money that belonged to you. This happens all time to many Americans by many different insurance companies as well as the government. They play games with people constantly. Who’s going to investigate them?
@@brich6875 " We investigated ourselves and found no wrong doing "
Need to make sure she gets the interest too.
Na the interest income goes to the insurance company. that's why they withhold or delay the claims for so long to get as much return as they can.
This company needs to be exposed!! This is evil on all levels.
This is exposure 😂😂😂
No one should have to go through this kind of B.S.
Thank you for helping this precious lady ♥️♥️

You went WAY beyond with your customer care. Bless you and Happy Thanksgiving
@@mariasant7810 thank you
This is total bullshit. Any bank stands in a widows way should be sued for 100 million in punitive damages.
Thank you for helping that sweet lady.
That’s just pure taking advantage of a senior,,,had you not got involved they would have kept it going.
Taking advantage of a widow is about as low as you can go.
Disgusting

SUSAN YOU HAVE DONE A GREAT JOB, YOU HELPED THIS LADY UNTIL SHE GOT HER MONEY, G-D BLESS YOU, GREAT JOB!
Omg the angels that helped her. ❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you for helping this lady.
This so sad. Praying for Her. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I’ll say it every single time… Insurance is a scam/IDC what kind it is…
It is! what's worst is in some cases it's illegal not to have insurance smh.....
Death is a horrible subject to discuss, but the reporter is right in making sure you have access to and know where all the important documents are located before someone passes on.
How is death "...a horrible subject to discuss..."?
I’m glad this grandma got her money 👏
I am so happy you were able to help her.
SILAC...remember that name SILAC...as in BOYCOTT SILAC. They're Vultures waiting for her to die, too.
Ought to be ashamed of themselves....doing this to a grieving widow.....😡
Obviously they don’t care
Hire the proper attorney. One that specializes in your area of need.
Spend thousands to get your own money?
@@DE-vs2xy Or spend thousands on the wrong attorney and not get your money.
Right? And their rates now are just unaffordable and unbelievable. For around 90 percent of the population.@@DE-vs2xy

Financial stability it's critical for every women in 2024.
Thank you for helping this precious widow ! 👏 Besides warning of emergencies this is the best use of media/ news there is ! 👍😊

What’s wrong with these companies!!!!!!! 😡😡😡😡
I'd be flying to Utah and camping in their office until I got my money. A sit in!
This makes me cry. 😭
This is so STUPID. I'm convinced they hold onto these funds so they company is drawing interest for their company from it.
This.
I'm glad she will he ok, but weren't there lawyers involved in all the steps? Where is their value if one is left this vulnerable?
IMO - When one becomes older it often takes more time to tackle financial and legal issues. These companies know exactly what they are doing: preying on helpless seniors.

The employees at the treasury dept are probably working from home, something we’re just now hearing about. Seems we have some huge problems.
Heartless people work for that company.
Lady the bank u used was a temu bank. They trying to give you the money but don't have it. They trying to put it off constantly

Do not do anything in UTAH!!!!
Them not giving her rightful money is straight up theft, and these companies need to be prosecuted
This plain evil!!
Forgery?! Sounds like the company is being fraudulent, not the person filing the claim.
JUST keep your money in a savings account in both names, much easier!!
What a wicked set of demons. They have no problem taking our money, but it's hell to get it when it's our time.
Insurance always there for a check, never there in time of need?
They were never going to pay up.
Prudential is the bigest one they havent paid me its over 3 years
Funny how TV exposure gets crooks to move!
This is beyond heartbreaking! But they have no problem opening up gofundme accounts for anyone!
Sounds more like a miscommunication on both sides and not following up on both sides. Glad she got her money.
Doing this across the country with anyone vulnerable without attorney’s the claims are denied sometimes with assistance from a state agency by refusing documents.
They don’t want her to verify anything they know it’s her. They just wanna keep the money.
Silac should be ashamed of themselves.
In reality it's not your money. It's the companies money.
Bean counters, vultures waiting on her to die, so they wouldn't have to pay.
To all who have an account there need to cancel account on that company ,those are thief

I do not like insurance company's that poor woman what they did was absolutely abusive and discusting, the pain and damage they caused her 😮
they drag it on for interest, and if they get lucky, people who cant afford lawyers, give up.
