This was fascinating to watch. I've bought a number of games based on your playthroughs as they really set the standard for clarity and attention to detail, with all the editing and corrections. That must all take ages. I hope publishers keep supporting you because I'm sure they're selling more games thanks to your efforts. It's as if they have a Decree card called 'JonGetsGames' which applies a multiplier to their sales!
Fantastic play through - I was heart broken for Blue at that final scoring! I played this for the first time the other day and had the same end game decree as yourself. It was a 2 player game and putting a statue on Osiris right at the start really paid off and helped me out the happiness hole. Great tutorial Jon, a game that really benefited from a full play through :)
As I love Teotihuacan I did preorder Tekhenu. Thanks, for the teach and playthrough videos. Looks like I'll have to learn the solo mode rules while I remain practicing social isolation.

This was an excellent play through as always John and knew this would be a heavy learn for me. I really enjoyed Teotihuacan and looked to this as another good Daniele Tascini game. I really enjoy your play throughs above all others, always clear and concise and they have swayed me on a number of games with your ability to break down some pretty complex stuff. Really appreciate your professionalism.

I think getting them at the beginning is nice but they seem incredibly OP late game. I know that there have been some dev-advised changes: removing the score another decree card twice; and putting a cap on the points per scribe decree.

1:05 - the blue player should have gotten one less scribe when you changed their turn. (From the 2nd part of the Bastet action). They also would not have been able to take an Anubis action on their first turn of the extended playthrough.
I thought for sure the 2nd place (not saying color to not spoil it) was going to win. I think that player should have build more in the temple complex as supposed of the one that gave them resources specially because of the blunder didn't really need them.

At 8:08, shouldn't you have also received another 1 VP because the yellow side of the pillar base matches the side of the temple? The rules don't say it has to be adjacent.
Honestly those aren't types of videos that I am interested in watching, so I don't find myself wanting to make that type of video. I skip setup in my videos because in general the setup part of rulebooks are very straightforward so I think covering that at the start will make the video longer for not much gain overall. That's just my opinion of course :)
It's been a while since I played Teotihuacan but after playing through this whole game I feel like they are actually quite comparable. Teotihuacan has 8 actions instead of the 6 here, but I think on average these actions have more going on.
I suppose that's true, again it's been a while since I played Teotihuacan. You don't have tracks, alternate actions on each space, or spacial stuff going on like the Pyramid. With that in mind I think this is lighter than Teo after rethinking it, though not drastically so.
An interesting game, but I don't think it is for me. I have to say that the color scheme is very much not to my liking, it is way too drab. I feel like statues are a bit weirdly balanced, shouldn't they cost more instead of less as you build more, considering they give more points? Great video as always.
I've preordered the game and am pretty sure I'll enjoy it, but I would agree that the graphic design could be better, both artistically and in terms of presenting information.
John Wheeler is there a logic behind the statue costs why the pattern is like that? Because I thought usually the first cost is usually cheaper but gets more and more costly as you build more things
@@HearToGrin I think it's a thematic choice as everything in this game is built around the idea of "balance". so it is focused around the centre, rather than a straight track.
