Just a note to keep it running, that pump doesn't have a clutch on it. When you stop spraying, the pressure is still building up in the pump and will eventually burn it. That was great for your first time out making some cash. Wish you the best with your new business venture.
Good choice in both pressure washer and surface cleaner. Im currently running a mitm but ran someone’s Simpson at a campground doing some work and was pretty impressed.
@@chrisrubio2218 the water pump cools with the flowing water. If you stop the flow by not using the wand or surface cleaner the water is going to go through the built in bypass, for this model, and circulate the water warming it up and getting hot. Heat in the water pump is what wears and destroys pumps. There is a thermal relief valve typically that will expel water from the side of the pump usually when water temperature is 140°F to save the pump. It's best practice if you're not using the water, to clean, to shut off the pressure washer no more than 2 minutes after you stop running water for cleaning. When you get to bigger more commercial set ups they have external bypass valves that can be re-routed to a buffer tank or the ground. So that way when you're not using the water for cleaning then new water still flows through the pump, through the bypass valve and hose, and into the buffer tank therefore keeping the pump cool and not needing to shut off the pressure washer when you're not using it.

Yeah so ideally you don’t want to remove the cream coat on top of the concrete. We actually don’t hit concrete with pressure over 2500-2900. We always pre treat to kill the algae before we surface clean and then the post treatment helps brighten the concrete as well as blend any lines left behind.

@@andyjcoop yeah never leave your machine on without squeezing the trigger(more than 2 minutes) it will make your pump overheat and then you will not be able to get any pressure at all (if your machine is direct drive).
Good video, i just bought the Simpson 4400 PSI pressure washer, i see you’re using a 4200 PSI pressure washer with this surface cleaner. You think the 4400 PSI would be ok since the surface cleaner is rated for 4000 max?

We run oversized tips now on a whisper wash classic. We run a 19” with a 6.5 gpm machine and run 4006 tips to bring the pressure down without messing with the unloader.
On this set up I had two 2504 tips so it brought the pressure down a bit. Now we run 4006 tips on a 6.5 gpm machine. We never have issues with etching concrete because our pressure is down around 1800-2000 psi
Great video, also looking to get same equipment! Was curious if you pre-treated the concrete with any chemicals; or if that was just water only? Thanks!
Casey Coates This video was done without pre treatment, but I’ve done a few concrete jobs since purchasing this set up and pre treating is the way to go! Much better results pre and post treating👍🏻
Hey bro right now it’s just a backup washer. We have a vanguard 6.5 gpm machine on the trailer. But the Simpson was a great little starter washer. Made lots of money with it
Hey brotha! It depends on if it’s residential, commercial, how dirty it is and so on. I’d say for residential anywhere between .18-.25 is where we are. Commercial it depends how much concrete it is. We did a huge commercial job that was just shy of 300,000 sqft and we were around .05 on that.
uhh it all depends honestly, the wheels are nice for bigger projects but its kind of a pain because they fall off the edge of the concrete and get caught on stuff. There's not much of a difference in performance that I've noticed though.
Do you use 5 w 30 synthetic non-detergent 4-cycle oil? I use 10w 30 in mine. Just got it the other day. I'm considering going from conventional to synthetic.
Hello quick question I believe you said it has adjustable psi so can you use it for car wash detailing if you lower the psi because I would be saving in purchasing a smaller pressure washer
Actually looking at getting this same set up. Just purchased the Simpson 4200 psi 4gpm w Honda engine and want to get this surface cleaner. Think the model with the castors is worth the extra money??
Henry J Calamari Hey buddy I don’t really think it is. I feel like the casters will get stuck a lot on the edge of the concrete. With the model without the casters it glides over everything really nice. But I’ve never used one with casters so cant say for sure! But this model works great!
@@DustToGloryPW worked with a very large professional pressure washing business and we used 36 in surface cleaners with 4 casters, they do help with going over uneven sidewalks and pavers so the pressure tips don't get wacked, but otherwise I like the glide as well, I broke away a month ago and just set up my own soft wash and pressure washing business, here is the set up so far. I went with the Dewalt 4400 4.4gpm. ua-cam.com/video/U83irK6snSw/v-deo.html
It depends on a lot of stuff, if your unloader is all the way open, how much hose you are using and what size tips you are using. Those things can all change the pressure
With a 4GPM power washer you don't want to go larger than 16" for a surface cleaner to avoid striping, and pretreat the concrete with SH and a surfactant
I used a 20” for 6 months growing my business and it worked great, just a little slower. As long as you have the surface cleaner tipped right it would do just fine. 16-19” would be ideal though I agree
my question or it could be a doubt, the water must be that of the house or you take your tanks, there are people who may not like that they use their water, because of the cost of the bill.
We’ve washed over 1000 properties and have only brought water for 1, we charge to bring water. Check with your city but typically for a house was a customer may pay an extra $1-5 for the water we use.

@@DustToGloryPW Actually Brent after getting that awesome trailer rig you are good to go. I was just going to suggest putting your own machine together instead of buying complete. Also something small but makes a huge difference is using a proper unloader and not those one piece unloaders. Then either run the unloader bypass to the ground or buffer tank. Never let a unloader discharge right back into your pump it only takes seconds for it to over heat and ruin the seals.
I haven't used neither one, but to me it seems like a lot of the pressure washers are often the exact same if they have the same motors. Only difference really is in the pump itself and the amount of PSI its labeled as. If they have the same engines, and both put out the same gallons per minute (GPM), than they will basically be only differed by the stickers of the brand name. That's what I believe anyways.
@@DustToGloryPW they say some tips 15 degree tips can etch new or really old concrete. I've been researching this myself. One guy told me to use 25 degree tips rated for a couple gallons per minute higher than my machine. I'm still looking into it.
What are the best tips for the surface cleaner?? An does the pressure washer need a buffer tank or does it run good on the water from the customers house sence its s 4gpm ? Mine will be in tomorrow so all information is grate
I ran no buffer tank for about 6 months, but upgrade as soon as you can. You just can’t let it sit too long without water going through the pump or you’ll burn it up. You need to match the tips with the gpm of your machine. On my 4gpm I ran 4002’s but if it’s a 4000 psi machine I would probably run 4004’s or 4003’s so it drops the pressure a little bit without losing gpm.
@@JasonY02 Yes sir if there’s good pressure, we never came across a house that didn’t have pretty good flow at that time but now that I have a trailer it does happen sometimes.
@@chrisrubio2218 yes threw the down stream injection system it so you can apply chemicals to the surface your cleaning just make sure to run straight water after to clean it if you don’t have a down stream injection system then buy one for the nozzle of your wand. It just makes it easier to apply chemicals so you don’t have to have a separate sprayer.
I believe the pressure washer is too small for that size surface cleaner. I believe the formula to determine the size is 4 inches per every gpm. The maximum size for a 4 gpm pressure washer would be 16 inches max.
That’s a good rule of thumb to go by, I used that surface cleaner for over a year and it never etched or left zebra stripes. You just have to go a little slower when cleaning concrete. We have a trailer mounted 6.5 gpm hot water machine now with a 19” whisper wash. There’s also alot of guys that run the 19” with 8gpm. It really matters what size tips you run on the surface cleaner not the size of the surface cleaner.

I have the 15” surface cleaner no rush for me to get the 20” I do want a 20” are u running high octane on your Honda engine🤔 I am I do siding fences don’t pressure wash decks that’s a bad idea 👎🏽 it leaves waves in the wood I love the satisfaction of watching it get clean cheers my pressure washer friend ☺️
I’m Canadian btw we love our American friends☺️
What do you think about the power house surface cleaner?
Was that just water or did u put any chemicals?
This was just cold water, no pre or post treatment
is there any danger cleaning concrete with such a powerful pw? is it running at full strength or do you set the pressure lower?
Yeah you can etch concrete, I had it turned down a bit.
@@DustToGloryPW what if i change out teh tips...would that help and which tips do you recommend
would 40025 tips do the trick with 4400 psi and 4gpms. that seems to be a solution to notch it down?
Just an fyi man if you're not pulling the trigger on the gun you really should shut the engine off the pump uses the water to cool itself and if it runs without water circulation it will burn up
Thanks brother, this video is actually from over a year ago I believe. We now have a 6.5 gpm trailer mounted machine with a 330 gallon buffer tank with a bypass. But that’s great advice for newer guys that are just now seeing this video. Appreciate it!
Hey, good job, I just got the same PW, did you change the tips? Because 4gpm is meant for 16" surface cleaner. I was worried that maybe it wouldn't be strong enough to operate properly.
It actually works pretty good with the 20” it’s just a little slow. I did end up changing the tips. Now we use a whisper wash classic 19” with my trailer mounted 6.5 gpm machine
Hi how long would you say the job takes? How much do you think a fair price would be to charge someone?
Now it would take us maybe 30-45 minutes, depending on the area you can charge around .18- .22/sqft
How do you get it loaded on your truck? I’m a older guy so I’m always looking for a easier way.
I’d think ramp’s and if so I’d it easier to push it or pull it.
Thanks
Yes sir I had ramps but it still was a pain in the butt!
So did you find a solution to loading that monster. That’s the only thing stopping me from going 4gmp.
What tips did u have to use on the surface cleaner? I have the same setup i have a 4200psi 4gpm simpson pressure washer but ive seen the be surface cleaner is for “4000psi 4-8gpm” so i think I’ll have to change the tips
,have you ever ran bleach through the injector on your PW? Is a downstream needed ? If so what for ?
We changed the tips out to 2504 tips to bring the pressure down. Now we run 4006 tips on a 19” whisper wash classic with a 6.5 gpm machine.
@@DustToGloryPW I have a question as well
What’s a reasonable price you can charge people for this service? Was looking to buy one and wanted to estimate the time it would take to break even and start making profit. Any info helps
Hey sorry I’m just seeing this, this was actually my driveway but I’d say it was around a $300-350 driveway. Maybe $15 in fuel and $10 in chemical. Customers water so there’s good profit to be made. Obviously we pay for insurance, taxes and all that good stuff so it’s not ALL profit but still good margins
I wouldnt go above 16 inch surface cleaner for 4gpm cuz it leaves marks very easily
That 20” made us a lot of money but we had to go slowwww. Now we run whisper wash classic 19” with a 6.5 gpm machine
You're going to burn up your pump letting it run while you move your cam and comment, recommended max time running is 2 min max idling.
Hello,
Just getting into commercial work, my machine is on order and arriving soon.
Can you clarify your comment if that's ok? Am after as much advice as possible.
What your saying is just turn the machine off entirely instead of running the machine on idle?
Andy James 8 think it depends on the engine mate
@@andyjcoop yeah never leave your machine on without squeezing the trigger(more than 2 minutes) it will make your pump overheat and then you will not be able to get any pressure at all (if your machine is direct drive).
@@jaken5545 Thank you
@@andyjcoop no problem any other questions you have be sure to ask I don't mind helping I'm just getting started myself good luck.
Good video, i just bought the Simpson 4400 PSI pressure washer, i see you’re using a 4200 PSI pressure washer with this surface cleaner. You think the 4400 PSI would be ok since the surface cleaner is rated for 4000 max?
Should be able to change the pressure that is put out.
Did you have to adjust the pressure to use the surface cleaner? ✨
In this video I didn’t, we have a new set up now where we changed our tips on the surface cleaner so we are pushing about 2500psi to the tips
@@DustToGloryPW Is that more or less then previous set-up and if so why the change?
Thanks.
@@vcash1112 We have a 6.5 gpm 4300 psi machine now compared to the old 4 gpm 4200 psi we used to have. If you look at some of my newer videos you can see our new set up. When doing concrete ive found that 2500 psi is about where you want to be on psi
@@DustToGloryPW Nice!
How much PSI to the tips on your old 4gpm set-up ?
Was it less then 2500?
Thanks for answering this last question...✨💦
What size tips did u use for the surface cleaner ?
We run oversized tips now on a whisper wash classic. We run a 19” with a 6.5 gpm machine and run 4006 tips to bring the pressure down without messing with the unloader.
@@DustToGloryPW how can you tell what PSI youre on when lowering ? I ask because I dont want to ruin the concrete
What tips do you use ?
On this set up I had two 2504 tips so it brought the pressure down a bit. Now we run 4006 tips on a 6.5 gpm machine. We never have issues with etching concrete because our pressure is down around 1800-2000 psi
Nice machine i have more expensive ones but im phasing them out for these
Check out my latest video, it shows my newest build. I’m loving it!
Can you link me to where you bought the surface cleaner
Its on amazon. BE 20" surface cleaner
Joseph Brown Sodium Hypochlorite
@@DustToGloryPW
Still learning, what do use for post treatment? Especially when you have lines from the surface cleaner.
Michael C Post treatment and pre treatment are the same, both around 3-4% mix with sodium hypochlorite
Great question, I was thinking the same thing since its mildew or something not just dirt.
Could you drop a link for the surface cleaner
The surface cleaner is on Amazon and many other websites it’s a BE 20” surface cleaner. That should pull it up on Amazon
Wassup Bro.. I see you have a new setup.. Are you still running the Simpson 4200 and are you using it for mobile detailing?
Hey bro right now it’s just a backup washer. We have a vanguard 6.5 gpm machine on the trailer. But the Simpson was a great little starter washer. Made lots of money with it
What is your cent per square foot for concrete wash like you did
Hey brotha! It depends on if it’s residential, commercial, how dirty it is and so on. I’d say for residential anywhere between .18-.25 is where we are. Commercial it depends how much concrete it is. We did a huge commercial job that was just shy of 300,000 sqft and we were around .05 on that.
@@DustToGloryPW thanks for replying I’m starting my business in the spring when the snow clears. Thanks for your input
@@DustToGloryPW is it worth it to add on a sealing service for the concrete?
@@williambates7149 I’d say so man, it’s an easy up sell for sure and is great for the customers driveway staying clean
you can let the pressure washer run without it being used or triggered?
You can let it run but not for long, not if you don’t have a buffer tank. It can make the pump really hot and ruin the pump
Would you prefer the whirl a way with the wheels or without. Do you get different results?
uhh it all depends honestly, the wheels are nice for bigger projects but its kind of a pain because they fall off the edge of the concrete and get caught on stuff. There's not much of a difference in performance that I've noticed though.
Do you need a buffer tank For the 4gpm machines?
No you don’t have to have one of the machine has a water hose connection but it’s much better if you do.
Do you use 5 w 30 synthetic non-detergent 4-cycle oil? I use 10w 30 in mine. Just got it the other day. I'm considering going from conventional to synthetic.
We do run 5/30 full synthetic
Hello quick question I believe you said it has adjustable psi so can you use it for car wash detailing if you lower the psi because I would be saving in purchasing a smaller pressure washer
I believe so, this was from close to 3 years ago so I can’t quite remember
@@DustToGloryPWhow is the pressure in the video holding ? No problemd ?
Great Video!
Thanks for the visit

@@DustyDawnaDigsHistory can I ask you some questions about your buisness
if they say it's a 5000 psi , is it true it can reach 5000 psi while in use ?
Hello Buddy. I have a Simpson 4200 PSI & 4.0 GPM as Well. A Bunch of People online Keep Saying 16” is Best for 4.0 🤔. I want at Least 18” but it looks like 20” is working just fine for you. Any Opinion??? Thank You Sir 💦💦💦
16-19” would work better for sure but I started with a 20” and built my business with that set up so it works, just a little bit slower.

Never let a unloader discharge right back into your pump it only takes seconds for it to over heat and ruin the seals.
excellent video you could tell me the complete model of the washing machine

oh the irony of pressure washing in the rain🤪
Pressure washing in the rain adds 0.1 gpm to your rig
what do you think of the new dewalt presure washers
I haven't really looked at them, I love the Simpson pw's
I haven't used neither one, but to me it seems like a lot of the pressure washers are often the exact same if they have the same motors. Only difference really is in the pump itself and the amount of PSI its labeled as. If they have the same engines, and both put out the same gallons per minute (GPM), than they will basically be only differed by the stickers of the brand name. That's what I believe anyways.
Simpson makes ,, the dewalt pressure washer they just put the dewalt sticker

@@DustToGloryPW ok thx, I order the exact same one you have 4200 psi 4.0 GPM, So the water flow from a house is enuff to run the machine efficiently
@@JasonY02 Yes sir if there’s good pressure, we never came across a house that didn’t have pretty good flow at that time but now that I have a trailer it does happen sometimes.
Hey Jason ,have you ever ran bleach through the injector on your PW? Is a downstream needed ? If so what for ?
@@chrisrubio2218 yes threw the down stream injection system it so you can apply chemicals to the surface your cleaning just make sure to run straight water after to clean it if you don’t have a down stream injection system then buy one for the nozzle of your wand. It just makes it easier to apply chemicals so you don’t have to have a separate sprayer.
how many inch is that surface washer?
This is a 20” but you can run a 16,19 or 20 as long as it’s tipped right for the washer. 20 you have to move a little slower but it does work.
How much did you charge for that driveway
It was free, it was my driveway lol
Realistically, on paper this shouldn't work as the machines flow is too low to power the fsc bar fat enough to not leave tiger stripes, good job!!
Get some 1502 tips for your surface cleaner. No more swirl marks
Brian Beauchemin Really?? I’m seriously going to look into that!
15 is the degree and split 4 in half you got 2 one for each spray tip
Are these good or a 4gpm 4200 psi machine ?
@@brianbeauchemin7524 brian can you explain a little bit more about that I'm concerned about swirl marks doing a patios and driveways
Go in straight lines
You have a license
Yes, we are licensed and insured
Don’t burn up your pump.
I didn’t, since then I have a new rig. You can see my latest videos to see the new trailer.
