Is It a Family Car? 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata

- Here at GT: Garage Talk, we have enjoyed sharing our driving impressions with the whole family which generally includes our four-year-old son riding with us and giving his input from the back seat. However, when there IS no back seat, it is tough for us to review a vehicle as a family of 3.
Let us just say, Tucker adored this car and wished he could ride in it. He thinks convertibles are so cool since they do not have a roof. However, we never installed his car seat since there are no child safety seat anchors. If you feel you must install a child seat in your Miata, follow all manufacturer suggestions both of the car and the safety seat.
Holli also loved this one, though she could not drive our tester. Since this vehicle is equipped with a 6-speed manual gearbox, and she is yet to learn to drive a stick, she offered to give her impressions from the passenger seat.

He actually said in the video that it's Tyler. :) The IH20 drive to Longview from Arlington in my NC is a bit fatiguing with the wind noise. Foam earplugs or noise-canceling headphones help a lot.
There is a storage compartment behind each seat.

Actually, while it does support wireless Apple CarPlay, for some dumb butt reason, it does NOT support wireless Android Auto; wired Android Auto, yes, but not wireless.

Why why on earth would you put the roof up. Why would you buy it if your not going to use it. Like buying a beautiful Japanese knife and not cutting a tomato. You lost me. I have owned a nc for 7years and now ordered my cd3. Best car I’ve ever had.

For $25,000 more, only available in AT, half the fun of the MX5... Apples & Orange yada yada yada...
Manual transmission is overrated, Holli, and can often be inconvenient. My last 6 sports cars were automatic, including my 2022 MX5 RF GT which is a 6-speed automatic with the choices of paddle and manual shift. And ironically my Miata is a quick 5.7 seconds to 60mph elapsed time, compared to low 6.0's for MX5 with manual transmissions. I'm sure professional track drivers can do a bit better.
Automatics have gotten faster than manuals for sure in the last decade.

First, I don't think that's true, especially with the extra weight of the RF vs ST. Your timer must be broken :-D Second, this is not a 0 to 60 kind of of car! This is a car to take for a fun ride in the canyons (or mountains, depends where you live) and eventually to track days or AutoXs. And no, sorry, the MX5 is not a Porsche, it's not shifting as fast, and I'm certain the AT is cutting in half the pleasure of driving the MX5. My 2 cents.
