Yes it is. Currently I m learning karanas too. To be honest it’s not easy at all to perform. The best part is the more u do the more u ll understand your body. This is truly scientific and not mere dance.
Perfectly used by the great and brilliant artist , the themes hidden in sculptures . These themes can be , maybe , extended with more imaginationry and explainatory understandings of basic instincts tried to be suggested thru .
It appears to be the best Bharatha natyam style of dancing,. and the present style of Bharathanatyam is simplified. We respect and appreciate Madam for her wonderful research. Work.
U can contact my teacher. If u interested plz share yr email. I ll send her details. She is truly a great teacher, dancer n human being. U ll live her.
@@sumanthganapathibasavapatn141 thanks. That’s makes a lot sense now. This unmata karana use in dance to depict jealousy or anger. Clearly the second variation used to show the furious narashimha...🙏🏻
@@sivakumarsubramaniam2388 No wonder. "Matta" means intoxicated or enraged. In combination with Madaskhalita and Ghurnita, the Unmatta-karana is used to depict drunkenness as well. On its own, it displays vibrant anger and aggressive motions.
I didn't like , it's not true, karanas are collected from all over India but here imaginary karanas are collected only from Tamil Nadu and made only based on bharatnatyam which is totally incorrect, the real karanas are much more different from your imaginary karanas
You should watch the entire series of bharatiya natya Shastra...she discusses about how natya Shastra is spread all over India and Asia. This is just a small part of the whole series
Stop seeing hip movement as a sin. When a dancer dances she/he literally imagines his/her body as a temple. So there is no superior or inferior part in the body. All of them equally important and playing their own role to make the temple ( dance) look sacred. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder,". Just saying..
FYI emphasis on hip movements has been notoriously tied on Bharatnatyam (though not like odissi) for at least from mid 1st millennium BCE. What you're seeing nowadays is a modern interpretation of the Vazhaloor style of Bharatnatyam AKA Kalakshetra style
This is original form of bharatanatyam, the form we have now is different. Respect the dancer, she is trying to bring back the original form and not the fake form we have now.
I am Speechless whenever I watch this. And I watch it often.
Same here
I think this could be her magnum opus despite just being a guide to the Karanas. The singers and musical performers carried it too!!
The background music is as beautiful and captivating as this dance performance 😌🙏🏻❤
The wonder never ceases. She is reincarnation of bharata muni
3:11 her four limbs performing 4 different movements.. Just magnificent 🤩🤩🤩🤩

This looks like Unmatta to me, is that right?
Yes it is. We do have two variations..

5:09 is just comedy. That’s just embarrassing and not at all what’s depicted in the sculptures.
It is justifying the entire sloga n sculpture. U need to understand the basic 1st

She's replicating Karanas as depicted in South Indian temple, that's all
She is trying to replicate the statues in Chidambaram, not the whole India

Why do they moving their hips like this? This is not Bharathanatyam. This way of dancing you can call Cabaret.
These are Karanas of Natyashastra. Bharatanatyam and Odissi and the rest derive from it.
