Yes I'm a camaro fan Gen1&Gen2 I really like this camaro 13s wow love it a 396 corvette 4speed awesomely awesome running 13s also great race love your videos keep'em coming cause I don't have any friends 😂👊
I had a Ttop '78 Z28 in high school 1983-84 & the 1st thing I did was put true duals on it, mild cam, MSD ignition, 8.5mm spark plug wires & ripped off anything smog related & that really woke that 350 up ✌💖☮
As a Vette owning, tire smoking, boomer (who embarrassingly danced to disco in the day) I found your comments……hilarious! The Z is running about like they did back then with a few strategic tweaks. Of course, in the end, there’s no substitute for cubic inches. Thanks for the great racing and hilarity. ~ Chuck 🌮🌮
I was a total disco rat, and in Los Angeles no less. While my stoner buds sat around being Beavises and Buttheads, and chanting "Death to Disco", I was where the hot horny chicks were: The Disco. NOW Charles, I'll bet that at your age, you are still more coordinated and balanced than most people half or a third of your age. I certainly am, much the surprise of many, and I credit it to years and years on the dance floor. Get your groove on. Don't be embarrassed.
Wow! I have no idea how in the heck I missed this one! That smogged '78 Camaro sure held its own against the "all mighty" Vette! and thanks for using my comment in your new BEST and WORST comment section, I'm truly honored 🦓 I raise a Taco in your name! 🌮💯
For a second, I thought it'd be a 1967 Corvette L88 drag racing that '78 Camaro. The '67 L88 Corvette is the coolest C2 Corvette ever in my opinion. And I'm certainly not alone. That monster made 560 HP, compared to its severe 430 HP rating. And they're so expensive even C&Z's girlfriend's father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate can't buy that thing. (I hope you like that Spaceballs reference, everyone)
I was thinking '67 L88 as well, but I don't think they came with a warranty... or at least not 12 months. Either way, the only true "holy grail" Corvette from the classic era would be the 1970 LS7. Supposedly there was ONE built (tested by motor trend if I remember right) and it was later modified, then destroyed. The Spaceballs reference was great though... and no, sir, I didn't see you playing with your dolls again.
(in Dark Helmet's voice) Well, only grown up assholes play with dolls besides little kids. In all seriousness, the 1970 LS7 Corvette sure looks like one hell of a treat!

"Zesty" yeah, that's a nice way to put it! I've been following the Zebra 🦓 dude for quite a while, there's a lot of match ups which seemingly don't make sense but I always root for the underdog
Dude!! So glad you're back!!! The knowledge you give of each car prior to the race is fantastic! I love all the small detail info! Thanks CZ and thank you drivers!!
Well I was a bit shocked with how fast that de smogged Z28 ran . I imagine if the Corvette was given the same treatment it would be in the 12s. All said given that the Z was was driven by a 16 yr. Old is impressive. Way to go dad!
Had a 78 Z28 4 speed 3.73 gears. The Catalytic Convertor was gone and true dual exhaust to the Resonators thru the tsil pipes. Black with gold stripes. A K&N air filter, de-smogged and the timing pulled up and a little jetting on the Qjet with 92 Premium ran a 9.30 1/8th mile.
I owned a 78 Z28, yeah, complete with the Joe Dirt hair cut!! This was an awesome match up, but hey, big blocks ARE ALL THAT & catch posers on the "big end"... It also had the 4-speed & 3.73 gears.. maroon & yes, Z28 stripes! It sounded slightly better than phhhhht!!!!! 😂😂😂

If you want proper car-geekiness, while lying on the ground, grasping for air from laughing too hard, you've come to the right place! A '65 Corvette L78 with sidepipes is automotive perfection! (the Camaro is ok too...)
Another fun video with your wonderfully heathen humor. The race was a lot closer than it should have been. The 'vette was loud and it ran a fair amount slower than it should have been running with that engine, gearing and transmission in PSMCDR. Oddly enough the side exhausts for those gen 2 corvettes made a lot of noise, but were pretty bad for power based on a few chassis dyno runs I have seen. The Camaro was well prepared for the class, and it ran what you could expect for a properly tuned 350 within the rules.
Something doesn't add up . A 396 with 425 HP with an outrageous 4:56 rear is a low 12 second car . Driver must of spun at the starting lane for almost a sec "
That Camaro never ran like that when it was new! I wish I knew what they did to get that kind of power from an engine with the terrible heads they had.
I'd be really happy with a 78 Camaro that ran high 13s low 14s with an AT and 342s. That being said, you can see how much of a handful that Vette was! 1 mistake is all it takes...something my dad said when he street raced in the early 60s.

I've built up a 79 camaro from just an empty shell with a 1971 350 4 bolt main motor with about 18k miles on it from an RV, sounds like it has an RV cam in it (wonder why) and a th350 with a shift kit and converter, motor has a edelbrock intake and a holley 650dp on it with an msd ignition, long tube headers and header mufflers, same 3.40-ish rear end with limited slip, wonder what kinda power and time its running, havent driven it yet, been doing wiring and interior
The Camaro has better tires.. My 1979 Z-28 Camaro was $7,190.00 on the road .. very few options 3:73 gears BW T-10 4 speed .. the Cast alumnum mags were a $273.00 option .. rear window defogger .. rain gutters.. Radio delete .. Posi traction was $70.00 I think 4% sales tax included.

The corvette 4.56 gears i think hurt it. 4.10's might have been better. The camaro was fast for what it was. This was a top of the line big block vette vs. a run of the mill smallblock smogger camaro and it barely beat it
The '65 396 is considered the "holy grail"? That's ridiculous. Even though the 396 wasn't even available until March of '65, they built nearly 3 times more of them than fuelie's in '65. Being that '65 was the first year for disc brakes and the last year for the fuelie, I'd say that's closer to being a "holy grail" than the 396 cars. For anyone who's interested, the true "holy grail" Corvette would have to be the 1970 LS7. Most sources say that none were ever built, but supposedly only one was built for testing by magazines like Motor Trend. Second to that would have to be the '69 ZL1, which according to assembly plant statistics, only two were built, though it's possible that a third might exist. Then there are the 5 Grand Sport Corvettes, built in '63... the 20 '67 L88s... the 80 '68 L88s... the 116 '69 L88s... all more rare than the 771 '65 L84 fuelies, and FAR more rare than the 2,157 '65 396s. So, can I get the "top comment" award for the best rant?

The split rear window Vette is really the holy grail .

With a few modifications you can really wake these Chevy 350 smog motors up! I'm very impressed just how quick that Camaro was running.

Camaro sure did give that Corvette a challenge
I expected the Vette to win but didn't expect the Z28 to keep it that close.
Without the humor…is it really cars and zebras? You are doing the lords work sir.
Awesome , Thanks C&Z 😊
I did NOT expect that little Corvette to weigh over 3600 pounds. I used to have 2 second generation Camaros so I know how portly they are.

I'm not a serious Corvette fan (love the GTO) but my favorite is the '63 split-window in the rear.
Thanx for the show 👍👍
Awesome!
Those iron headed big blocks in the Corvettes were heavy! They are worth more but I'd rather have a 365 horse 327 as a driver.

I voted for the corvette. But love the Camaros just as much.
