It's incredible how hard people in the overpopulated Asian countries work to make a living. And so many of them risk their lives in various ways, just so they can feed their families and have a roof over their heads. Total respect for the work ethic. I'm from India, and have seen a lot, but this is next level.
Some of these vendors makes like $400-$500 daily profit selling their foodstuffs to tourists. I don't think they are really desperate in the sense that you're perceiving. There's a lot of underground economy in Thailand and these people are getting the free ride by not paying any taxes. From the views of outsiders, they appear to be all poor, desperate, and innocent, but many of them have more money than you!
So I saw this on Instagram and it indicated that they do this 4-8 times a day , 7 days a week . Not only is this risky in a number of ways but also tiring to always have to close shop so many times a day . Hats off to them for their labour.
Sam- Yes, just look at 1:04 at the guy walking backwards and a few others. It must be that the poster, for this video, didn't have a front view of the train, so they simply ran the video backwards to show the train is coming. It looked normal though when the train left since he was probably recording out the back of the train. But there are other videos on UA-cam if you really want to see the people scurrying when the train does come.
Well, I call Thailand my home sweet home, and it's quite a quirky place. You see, we had train tracks running through the area way before the market was even a thing. And when people started flocking in, they had to learn how to dodge the trains like it was a game of Frogger. But here's the kicker: since the market was built, we haven't had a single train-related mishap. I guess our folks have finally mastered the art of train-dodging, or maybe the trains have finally learned to give way to our bustling market. Who knows?
I’m here in Thailand for a few months and did not know about that when I was nearby and now I’m in a different part of the country and hoping to go back to see it before I have to leave again
It's not like they went to work in a place like that because they feel like it. In poor, overpopulated countries people do whatever they can to survive and feed their families, not for fun
I think they need warning bells connected to the tracks as well as some sort of train signal here. Market should start wrapping up as soon as bells go off.
Madness. If someone leaves their market stall at the wrong minute, their whole livelihood gets swept away by the train. Guys, come on. How about a roadside market without a train track?
I am a Thai, this happends only in a very very few areas, I myself never see this, but I have to admit that it looks dirty and very bad indeed. No matter what, there are many more areas that looks clean and much better than this.

But why do they settle there at the train track? Can anyone explain
"Where do u wanna open your market?"
"On the railway!"
More precisely on the tracks
The market was there first and I’m not kidding
Market was built first, then Thailand build the railway thought the market, the salespeople didn't want to move so they adapted.
@Leah Welsh x that's the truth tho
@Leah Welsh x Only stupid people think calling someone smart is an insult.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but are the people moving backwards or not?

It looks more dramatic when played backwards because the people move immediently to the tracks.
@Gary Schooley wow that’s racist as fuck 😂💀💀
Maybe it's a video taken from the end side locomotive.
@@app8790 I hope ur joking lol
That is why it is always recommemded to wash your produce thoroughly.
-How close you would like your market to be to the railway?
-Yes.
Nothing like fresh produce with a generous helping of brake oil and wheel dust!! Yumm!
Probably one of the strangest stretches of railway tracks in the world.
So do they have some sort of warning system that tells them the train is coming?
The first part with the train coming is played in reverse
Nope you can observe voice and say its not reversed
@@Akshith_Raj_ You can literally see that its backwards because of the people walking backwards.

The whole line of this train is truly with the community. But I had never heard of any train accidents.
Thanks for sharing. Seemed impossible but glad to hear it! 👏🏻👊💯❤️
The train driver also gets heart attacks 8x a day, 7 days a week
Yummy, I love oil and grease dripping on my 'fresh' produce.
And the metallic tang of steel dust.
Tonight's entree will be Spicy Thai Pork with passenger train dust.
Wait till u find out what they grow fruit and vegetables in!
It would explode ur brain
And i love that vegetable with the dust and oily taste tho
Clean it!
Hello sir : would you like to buy a peach that’s been slightly ran over by a train with hint of wheel grease . Half off regular price
Lmao 🤣
Best comment!
I’m here in Thailand for a few months and did not know about that when I was nearby and now I’m in a different part of the country and hoping to go back to see it before I have to leave again
U saw that later or not
The craziest part of all of this is that they wait literally till the final second to move things
Intresting that they knew what safe space was inbetween that crop stand and the step on the site of the train.
That’s gotta be stressful for both the shop owners and train drivers
OMG ! I Can't believe this !

How often does the train come by. I see this getting tedious as a shop keeper.
Miss those days.. bangkok i will be back..
Wow so beautiful my dear friend I'm from India 🇮🇳🙏🙏
Jake:
How often does the train go by?
Elwood:
So often you don't even notice it.
Anyone else notice how clean the train was? (Abit of graffiti but that kinda of expected for trains)
No one can access the depot so the train is kept clean.
Notice how unclean that market and food looks?
Yeah the train is a beautiful chrome. Probably relatively new. Doesn’t have to deal with a ton of rain on that side of the world either

In my country, the rail market are full of high speed trains, near the central station and between the branchlines
Hanoi Train Street of Vietnam, Kunsan Railroad Town of South Korea, Maeklong Railway Market of Thailand ~ very resemble !
Shifen train of Taiwan too
What was there first, the houses or the railway track ?
The railway track was already there, but due to lack of space, people gradually settled down to the railway track.
@@shock_wave That’s what I thought but had no idea. Thanks for the clarification.
train running and bazzar running peacefully coexist at the rails!. awsome!
That market is HUGE

Why? Why on the railway? Why? And 100 times WHY?

the train looks like the amarican subway train but lts not
Absolutely love it. The one in Hanoi is fun too.
Why they shut off 5min before the arrival.. instead close just near the train coming to the Market
It's a good thing it's not a high speed train. And if the horn breaks, they're screwed.
Right

We have seen this.Traders are well disciplined and the train runs on time.Superb 😇😈😇
But which one was first there, the railway or the market.
Market
Thailand is first ☝🏻to open market “online” 😅

When I saw that in Facebook I can't believe, then when I watched here I'm believe and that is true. For me that's the dangerous market!

How many times a day does this event repeat itself?

There is one or 3 trains in a day i think, soo.. They know when the train arrives so... If a person is not stoopid, nothing can happen
This is like a future of world

Does the train sound a horn .
Yes
Doesn’t look like the driver is changing his speed drastically either. I find this so intriguing
They have speed limits too though. He’s probably not going more than 10-15 mph
omg what a dangerous areas! i can't believe it.how this possible to get a dangerous road.
Not really, theres a 3 minute alarm that signals the vendors to move their stuff before the slow train arrives
very nice timing
what happened when train is coming - this is not shown in the video! Video is shown backwards
I am speechless, discipline without conditioning
Imagine someone is not on his shop and his shop is still on the track.
OMG it almost crushed the food
Here some orange juice, fresh from the rail.
Ay Allah bunlar ne zulum cekıler
This is just crazy, it can't be safe even though they seem used to it, it's mad.
In Indonesia the toilets in the train were open and released all the feces under the train. I hope this isn't the same here.

They’ve been “trained” to deal with situations like this.

they have to be more careful of safety themself.
I hope the trains on board toilets have holding tanks.

Something out of the box..i never thought people would have their market on train track.
The market was before the railway track. Those people didn't want to move. So they adapted.

Had that persone sat in train while recording 00:58 to 1:24 (time) portion of video....?
From what I've read the market there predates the railway. So removing them would not be fair

Good job trains only runs threw there once a day
I jope someday their government will relocate them in a safe place.
