I purchased the TS890 from Martin Linch & Sons really good service and I got a cup of coffee :)
Supper radio well done Kenwood.. for me the best of the bunch

Congrats on a sweet rig. Love mine!! Audio is superb on RX and TX. Kenwood did a wonderful job on the radio.
Great radio had mine for getting on for a year now and its one of the best I've used and owned. And believe me, I've had them all but this one is a keeper. Enjoy the radio it's in a class of its own

Hi Mike, as far as I know, you have both the 590SG and the 890 now.
Did you compare the NB of both ? I find my 590SG has an extremely effective noise blanker, even on AM, which my other HAM radios cannot do so well. If your 890 is doing same job as the 590SG, I might consider the upgrade on my side :)
The 890s is much better than the 590SG in my humble opinion.

So here's a question. Does it bother you at all that the MULTI/CH and RIT/XIT knobs don't line up vertically. I really don't get why they didn't make those two knobs the same with buttons either on the top or to the left instead of each one being different. They totally mess with my OCD! :-)

John Ratcliffe Hi John, I have a DX Commander and a G5RV (full size) I do not run an extra power. I also have a TS 590. Cheers
@@mike-M0MSN Very nice. Do you get any drama from neighbours putting up the DX Commander? I'm studying for the Foundation and having a useful antenna that won't cause neighbour drama is stressing me out :)
John Ratcliffe understanding neighbors are alway a good thing but the DXC is a put it up then needed antenna. so an end feed may be more sensible if you need to hide it.
@@mike-M0MSN I could drop the DXC when not in use? If it's below the level of my fence then that would be OK. The other option I wondered about was installing something in my loft and running the feed coax down the outside wall. I might drop Callum a line and see what he thinks.
I forgot to add; the TS590SG is probably going to be my first rig. Everything I've read about it has been incredibly reassuring; the receiver seems excellent, and I love the option of being able to add a panadapter as well.
