  • This family of Mountain Gorillas is enjoying a break. About halfway through each day the animals stop their otherwise endless quest for food and they rest and play together. It's an important part of their lives: they build and strengthen their relationships, establish and maintain hierarchy, and have some fun while they're at it. These gorillas live in Virunga National Park in the DRC. It is an incredibly diverse place, both topographically and biologically. It is also a very dangerous place. Poverty, war, corruption and chaos threaten to overwhelm the park at all times. The Mountain Gorilla is a critically endangered species, and these gorillas are more endangered than most. The only people protecting them are the Park Rangers who made this film. They track and monitor all the gorillas every day. They know their names and follow their lives. All they need is one of those bug lights that zap the bugs and they would be all set.
