- Mountain gorilla trekking in Virunga National Park, Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The Mountain gorillas are highly endangered species, only about 880 are left in the world, they all live in four national parks in DR Congo, Rwanda and Uganda. The National Parks organize trekking for small groups to visit and watch the gorillas. The visits last one hour.
Virunga National Park, in the eastern part of DR Congo, was the first Africa's national park, established in 1825, and UNESCO World Heritage site since 1979.

I've always been fascinated by non-human primate behavior and social dynamics. I'm not sure I myself would have the courage to get so close to feral creatures.

i always wonder what these creatures think of the two legged creatures come to visit them almost every day ? or is it a once a month? do they ever get tired of them being watched.. what choices do they have? i hope they will be able to live peacefully co-existing with us on this planet for many years to come. thank you for sharing.
+asankaw1 they get one hour visit, but not every day, and they completely ignored our presence (we were only three visitors that day, not counting the Virunga Nat park employees)

yes, Mount Mikeno, very impressive! I asked local guys from Virunga if there is a hike or climb and they did not know...
Anything should be done to rescue these animals and this park. 150 gatekeepers have died there - meanwhile own initiative has done a lot of good

+Amazing Places on our Planet There's been good news about beyond doubt one of Africa's most iconic animals and one of the continent's species of great apes:In late 2018 (One year after you filmed this in 2017) on November, the IUCN had reclassified the mountain gorilla (Gorilla beringei beringei) from "Critically endangered" to "Endangered" and in late 2019 before the pandemic came in 2020, the population of this gentle giant had grown up to more than 1,004 individuals remained in East Africa's Rwanda, Uganda and the Democratic republic of the Congo. they ignore people completely, and the rangers in the Virunga National Parks (and I guess Uganda and Rwanda too) take the visitors to gorilla families that are habituated to human presence (but no more than one hour per day, and not all days)

yes, it is in the description of all my videos. For 4K I almost exclusively use Sony AX100, but recently I always take with me second camera - a6300 and use it sometimes...

One thing I like about your videos is that when I watch them I know that I could also see those places (and will probably see them gradually). It's quite a different thing than watching an Animal Planet show or some other documentary.
