If this episode feels rushed it’s because they adapted almost a full volume in it. In the manga, Isane goes to the bed to confirm that Kensei and Rose are dead but in this episode it just cuts to Yachiru attacking Gremmy after him saying he killed them which does bother me because they act as though killing 2 Captains isn’t a huge deal which it is. They also cut out Bazz B, Renji, and Jugram(Yhwach’s high hand man) reaction to the meteor. Jugram was concerned for Yhwach’s while the meteor was dropping.
The Ywach scene wasn't cut.. It was changed Spot the differences.. Now Ywach is asleep during this fight while in the manga he wasn't-Jugram reaction doesn't exist in the anime bcs the whole scenario is different 😂
Wow, on rewatch, this episode really flew by at like 3x speed! This was several chapters, probably like 2 months of chapters :D Shame we didn't get to see more of Yachiru popping off
Gremmy should’ve submerged him in lava or sulfuric acid instead of water. Wouldn’t kill Kenpachi but would do more damage than water could ever do. I also would’ve put him in space more times than once and eventually, he’ll succumb to his injuries. I don’t know why villains don’t try good ideas more than once.
He was going literally from 0 to 100. He should have imagined lava instead of water but underestimated Zaraki like a typical villain. Space one was atleast commendable, did more than what a lava would ever do.
@@elishaj2977 Respectfully, I'm not a big fan of requiring people to read extra source material to explain why a villain doesn't obviously do something. It's like having a game to depend on DLC content. It just comes off as a cheap way to procrastinate or get away with lazy writing.
@@megamonster1234 It was pretty damn obvious that Gremmy was incredibly unexperienced even without the extra material, and the source material already hinted at him being 'let out', so if that's not really enough for you to connect the dots then that's not on the series, it's on you.
We grew up with bleach n.n it's very dear to us, it's the anime that made me transition to manga during the arrancar arc because I needed to know what came next faster xD
I wasn't a big fan of how broke Gremmy's visionary power was if he could just simply imagine someone dead. I thought there was a built in weakness that was hinted at with the cookie arm thing that he can only make his imagination into reality so long as he focuses on or thinks about it but it's shown with Rose and Kensei that they really did just die and stayed dead even without Gremmy's focus. It's also a bit annoying that he never just does that with Kenpachi. I read somewhere that it could be due to a reiatsu difference, but that's such a boring limit to a power like that. Tricking someone into imagining themselves dead is a far more creative way to kill someone like him and Gremmy even hinted that was possible. Btw, I think Rose and Kensei along with the rest of the vizard really got screwed in this arc even though them having hollow powers would have been a great counter to the Quincies but that wasn't even explored at all.
One of the most busted powers possible! If only he had a better, more creative imagination, and made sure not to affect himself with his power, I could see Gremmy becoming the Strongest in the Verse.
Visionary is a power that was too broken to me and needed harder limits to make it feasible to introduce. When Gremmy first appears, we see him use it to imagine two captains dead and turned someone's bones into cookies. He basically warping reality in any way he sees fit. Kenpachi felt lucky to me that Gremmy kept trying to kill him with external force and each time he failed made him start imagining Kenpachi as unbeatable monster. If Gremmy changed tactics and start going back to using internal attacks, like imagining Kenpachi's heart turned to candy or his blood became liquor then Kenpachi would have died, because regardless of how strong he is he still needs blood and organs to live. If Visionary is a one and done ability this would be fine for me, since Gremmy's own lack of experience in combat led him to not switch tactics, but this arc establishes that Yhwach absorb all the Quincies who die and gains their abilities. In theory Yhwach should gain Visionary. Giving the main villain reality warping is too much, so it becomes obvious he just won't ever use it. It makes Yhwach's eventual defeat harder to swallow, if he can warp reality as easily. It is similar Kubo making Perfect Hypnosis be Aizen's shikai ability. It super easy to put people under it, and they are always under it and can never break out of it. Aizen can always control all five senses of anyone under his KS's power. It is so broken that trying to make a bankai for Aizen that is even stronger or more effective is a huge challenge, because Aizen's bankai needs to be defeated. I think Kubo does a great job in making character feel powerful, especially villains, but I do think he can get carried away and forget that he eventually needs to write how to defeat these characters in a believable way.
The first post sounded too negative, so I want to follow up with positives. I liked how we got to see Yachiru getting a brief fight at last. Kenpachi's true shikai reveal was awesome. Kenpachi cutting through a meteor is so him. I remember wanting to see Kenpachi plot point of wanting him to learn his zanpakuto's name and fight with it. It took until the final arc to get it, but it was worth the weight. I do understand why Kubo would want to make a character like Gremmy. Having a powerful reality warping character to show off how strong Kenpachi got does make sense, even if I felt reality warping as freely as Gremmy did was a bit too much. It was a fun reaction. I am looking forward to next episode reaction. It looks like both of you will catch up in time for cour/part 3 premiering in October.
Maybe there's reatsu matchup that didn't allow Greemy to cookie-bone Zaraki. Dual captains were in weak conditions so imagining them dead internally is possible. Cookie boning a lieutenant works cuz these sternritters are captain levels. Doing that to Zaraki of all people wasn't possible. I mean... we can try to put it together ourselves, it was just not explained. That's Kubo's style, I have noticed. I don't get, for example, when Gremmy said "meteor won't disappear even if you kill me." But stage that he set up did crumble after his death. Yachiru's bones were back normal when he switched his focus. So what does it say about his ability? 1. If he creates things out of scratch, like the meteor, they won't disappear and don't require focus? 2. Or that it was done with a clone so the meteor didn't require focus to keep intact.
Because reiatsu is the discriminant here. Gremmy cannot affect directly those with a reiatsu greater than his own. That’s why he didn’t imagine anything about kenpachi dying or being affected, he couldn’t. That’s the same reason why gremmy couldn’t become powerful as kenpachi because the moment he imagined he had the same reiatsu his imaginary body collapsed because only kenpachi can withstand it. And no, Yhwach doesn’t gain the schrifts, schrifts are unique to sternritter, what Yhwach gains is their reiatsu, their energy, not their schrifts. SPOILER NEXT EPISODES… In fact Bambi even as a dead zombie still has her schrift. What Yhwach takes is their reiatsu and their vollstandig. Even when he reclaim their powers they still retai schrifts and only lose vollstandig. NOVEL SPOILER In fact Uryu who cannot be affected by Yhwach taking back power is the only one who still had vollstandig at the end of the war. Also Gremmy never received an actual schrift, he is the brain of the soul king, that’s why he is so powerful.

There was a continuation to Gremmy's brain's story in the light novel, but never in the manga.

Gremmy was purposely locked in a cell according to the novels to make him less imaginative so he isn't as dangerous as he could've been.
He was going literally from 0 to 100. He should have imagined lava instead of water but underestimated Zaraki like a typical villain.

They made sure he was as stupid as possible by locking him up all his life
His power is a threat to everyone around him
