As a Moroccan there is no denying that we have African blood in us . Its can be seen in our physique in our food in our music . Even some of the Arab blood that we have much of it comes from the region of Yemen which is very close to the horn of Africa and knew many intermixing. I am also a AA Muslim, and I enjoy his vid on the Moors. However, anyone that wants to know the real history of the Moors MUST learn Arabic. If you dont you are simply scratching the surface of a subject so deep that even Arabic speaking people do not study. I know because I've taken the time to learn Arabic and I've asked about it. Lastly, this subject need some serious students that dedicate there education to first the study of Arabic, then the study of Africa and Spain, and Spanish. Moor was a term used to describe Muslims, yes. It was used in reference to Arabs, Berber and even European Muslims. It derives from the word "Mauri" which was used by the Romans to refer to people in Northern Morocco and Algeria.

As a North African Amazigh (berber), this video is very misleading and it feels like it's pushing a certain political agenda in favor of black people and the whole #BLM movement. I usually love your videos but this one made me raise an eyebrow, there’s tons of information on who the moors were, if they were only soldier’s like you say then why paint them them in such regal ways, most paintings of moors don’t depict them as soldiers but as scientists, nobles, etc . Moor was a term used to describe Muslims, yes. It was used in reference to Arabs, Berber and even European Muslims.
It derives from the word "Mauri" which was used by the Romans to refer to people in Northern Morocco and Algeria.

Where the you find the migration of e1b1b and lb you will find a deviation of the afro-asiatic language. Afro-asiatic languages include, cushtic, egyptian, berber, and chadic, and semitic. Meaning they're all of African origin. I dont know why he is insistent on the narrative that berbers are different from other Africans. I am a European and always found the Moors fascinating. I would just add that within the Moors there were Berbers too who don't consider themselves Arabs (they aren't really) but indigenous North Africans.
Yes berbers are not arabs they were arabised , they adapted to the arab language and culture and intermarried with arabs during the islamic campaigns however they still have their distinguished language and ethnic features. Arabs are only the ones living in the arab peninsula who spreaded their culture all around the middle east ;>

Moors were from north africa in Morocco. Two groups, the almohads and the almoravids conquered morocco. They are different then the ones who live in morocco. It's like the numbians conquering Egypt. They were Egyptian pharaohs but not Egyptian. They were still nubians. (The slave coasts), Cameroon, (the coast of shrimp), and the Congo (where many slaves where taken). So many of these places where named by europeans and still carry those names. So why did they allow them to take them over? Even there own kin? And why did they work and fight for the arabs and later focused on the iberian peninsula and north africa instead of west africa? Elevating them is necessary but only to an extent because they did not fight for their own people but rather abandoned them to the same people that they were fighting further north with the arabs.

Like Morocco does not have enough folks trying to steal its heritage, now we get this. The Moors' architecture, music, literature, cuisine etc.... were of Arab, Amazigh and to some extent European and Jewish population. The Muslims expelled from Spain and settled into Morocco would tell of their origin.

As a North African Amazigh (berber), this video is very misleading and it feels like it's pushing a certain political agenda in favor of black people and the whole #BLM movement.
Why don't they admit that the first Moors enslaved Sub Saharan African and recruited some as soldiers, that eventually under "Islam", became Moors aswell. My point which's why the video is misleading, Moors are white and brown, the blacks are Sub Saharan.

The term Moor was used by Europeans to describe those groups of Saracens invaders that came into Spain and present day Italy. The Moors were a combination of Berber or Amazigh along with Arabs and black Subsaharan African known as Taureg region However the vast majority of the Moors where of non-Arab and non-Black African. I usually love your videos but this one made me raise an eyebrow, there’s tons of information on who the moors were, if they were only soldier’s like you say then why paint them them in such regal ways, most paintings of moors don’t depict them as soldiers but as scientists, nobles, etc . I think you should do a little more research. This video sounds like a lot of bunch Arab biased moor history. Moor isn’t a broad term, it was a term exclusively meant for black people, but like always people like to claim our history and our accomplishments. You can't believe my shock when I walked into the Chow Hall for the first time ever and saw what could be described as little united nations around each table. You had tables for blacks only, tables for whites and tables for latinos. I still have that sight vivid in my memory. I could not understand back then. It was totally different from what the movies portrayed.
