- Hulikere Tunnel at Mandya is secret unknown tunnel in Karnataka South India . Hulikere tunnel is part of Visvesvaraya canal from KRS Dam . Mandya tourism, Karnataka tourism has many such marvels .
The Hulikere Tunnel is one of the engineering marvel of Sir. M. Visvesvaraya. The hulikere Tunnel is in use and if one plans to enter to tunnel then it's better to check with locals to ensure its not KRS water releasing day . Cauvery water when released flows out in full force and covers the full tunnel height of 20 feet . The tunnel was built after the construction of KRS dam as, the dam construction cut out water supply to hulikere village. The Hulikere Tunnel through the years has ensured irrigation water for agriculture to Hulikere, Kalenahalli and surrounding villages. The tunnel is part of the Vishveshwarya canal under the Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS) Cauvery Neeravari Nigam Ltd (CNNL). Hulikere tunnel carries cauvery water . Hulikere tunnel may be the longest under ground kaveri tunnel or cauvery tunnel . hulikere tunnel is the lesser known hidden treasure of mandya.
Hulikere is a village in Srirangapatana Taluk in Mandya District of Karnataka State, India. It belongs to Mysore Division. It is located 16 KM from Mandya, 20 KM from Shrirangapattana. 116 KM from Bangalore .
Hulikere can be reached by rail or road .The nearest Railway stations are Byadarahalli Railway Station , Yeliyur Railway Station are the very nearby railway stations to Hulikere. Chamarajapuram Railway Station (near to Mysore), Shrirangapatna Railway Station (near to Shrirangapattana), Pandavapura Railway Station (near to Shrirangapattana), Mysore Junction Railway Station (near to Mysore) are the Rail way stations reachable from nearby towns. By Road Hulikere can be reached via Srirangapatana, Mysore, Mandya, Bannur are the nearby by towns to Hulikere having road connectivity to Hulikere.
The water from KRS dam backwaters flows into hulikere tunnel. The Krishna Raja Sagara is the main channel of Kaveri river. Mandya tourism has many such hidden treasures which stay hidden from the naked eye, as houses, shops, fields cover the surface area along the length of the tunnel.
Hulikere tunnel got its share of limelight in a recent Kannada hit Movie Rathaavara, fight scene , shooting done within the tunnel, staring Sriimurali. Mysore tourism gets a new boast with new locations as such being used by Kannada film industry (Sandalwood).

Other places of interest around the KRS region are The Blue Lagoon, Venugopala swamy temple restored one, as well the submerged one, kaveri and hemavathi river sangam, Basadi Hosakote Jain Temple, Dornahalli Church, Sagarakatte Bridge. The above mentioned places are lesser know places around Mysore.

Firstly, I am sorry that this could be a long comment & I apologize for the same. I have really liked the videos not because there are less videos on the travel section but because you take efforts for some minute details in your videos to show us & the truth. Also, l see that you take great interest in showcasing river systems especially dams in your videos.
That said, I would really like the information that your trying to project in your videos, especially on the dam systems, through a drone camera with your comments, will be really wonderful. It is because I see you try to show us the whole structure, as it is in the current time, and also give us a bird's-eye view perspective explaining from where exactly & how the river water is flowing & entering the dam area, the appropriate area the water is getting dammed and how exactly (from where it is getting released) the water flows from the dammed area.
When commenting this, I clearly understand the monetary aspect and the personal efforts it takes even for the current videos that you are trying to show us. But believe me, if this sort of extra efforts are take now, maybe in coming future or even in the life time of your future too, these informations on different dam structures that you cover in your videos from the water getting dammed & back again into the rivers system and how exactly different dam structures have been working would help many commoners to revere the water they are getting easily accessed to, and not to mention even the civil engineers to study on structures & how to better implement it in the future will be enormous.
I too agree that these efforts & informations may not pay off well in your in your lifetime but it is always one's life efforts that yields results which is why there is family structure in our society and in time & again proved that is not always true as humans believe. Also, I am going to put out this same comment on different videos of yours that you have released through your previous video logs so that it is clearly visible to you even if you care or not... Finally, thanking you if you have gone through this comment carefully and jai Karnataka.

Notable amongst them were B Ramarao, K.R Sheshachar, M.K Narasimha Iyer, B.S Narasimha Rao, and M.R Krishnamurthy Rao.

@Udayakumar Rao flow path of the river is not altered.. This is just a canal to help irrigate the villages nearby.. Only a partial percentage of the river water is channelised through the tunnel and Kaveri river continues to flow in its natural path.

In fact everything that we humans do is against nature including agriculture, domestication of animals, building homes, use of artificial lights, gadgets, automobiles, including mobile phone, internet and so on. Should we stop all this and go back to cave men age????
