I strictly run barefoot shoes for the last 10 years and I’ve been completely injury free. It’s a technique that you’ve got to learn you got a strengthen your feet, first your calves and the tendons before you can convert to full barefoot running but once you learn the technique it does not make sense to do any type of impact whether it’s low impact or high impact on your heel. It’s crazy just run barefoot style and there’s no impact zero impact! The bend in your arch, ankle and knee will absorb your body weight and then spring you back forward without losing momentum from heel striking. Heel striking is just crazy.
Great to see you cover yet another gem (it makes sense that Xero who based their design on the sandle the Tarahumara wore would come out with model of the same name , very cool) I had the merrell vaporgloves a couple of years back , found it brilliant for cross country obsticle racing. It also was no slouch of anarobic / sprints . (kind of made me feel young again .. even if my youngest son could leave me in the dust without breaking a sweat ) 🙂 . Thanks for the Review!
I have been using them, I am using the Hykes Pinnacle barefoot shoes, it took me awhile to get used to them but now I will never go back to regular shoes, my feet are so much strong and I love how I feel so much more connected with the trail. Try and see you may like it.
Looks like a good option that I will definitely consider. I've used Vibram five fingers and Luna sandals both of which I love to run in.. they are minimalist, totally flat and zero drop. Lunas are by far the closest thing I've seen to the Tarahumara sandals and are based on them. Am likely getting the Altar Escalante Racer as well but I like to keep an eye on up and coming designs and reviews and constantly consider every option. Minimalist, fun, injury free running is my only goal. I'd love to be strong enough to do an ultramarathon one day but for me it's fun first, if you don't love it there's no point. Thanks...
Yeah I run a lot of my maybe 2025 miles a week sometimes like say half my mileage in like a barefoot sandals, running sandals, and the winter time I kinda you know go back so I’ve been thinking about these cause I also run five fingers but I don’t like five fingers on trails so something like this is a little bit more sturdy little bit more heavy duty than five fingers, and a little bit warmer than sandals, andand I know their products their products do last and they are quality company that really stands behind their customers, so probably gonna pick them up or in the near future
