why is all that in the field ? what was there before a market place ? Im from USA so a much newer country we can find civil war relics or old farm parts maybe an arrowhead from the American Indians not with metal detector OfCourse ... Strange to see you found so many coins in a field...A .Good way for me to find arrow heads is to wait for farmers to plow the field then wait for it to rain and then go look for arrow heads from Indians

Hi. It is truly amazing and bewildering just how much has been dropped. The odd field may not turn up much, but amazingly in most cases, I found any and every field will deliver some coins. I believe it is purely down to the 1000s of years that we've been occupying this land. Recently I have been detecting land near a very old Manor house. I found a gold Edward III quarter Noble coin (circa 1330-1376). Amazing! A few fields along, we found over 100 coins, mainly from the turn of the 19th century, but a few older. So to directly, answer your question, I don't think a market needs to have been held and I think in the case of these fields, it's just the population over the centuries. In the case of the 100 coins, yes maybe an annual event occurred.
It is similar here, if you can detect, then get a field ploughed, then it's like a brand new field to detect, you're certain to find more.
I always thought of the US and Australia were the places to find the buried "Gold" treasures, but actually the UK is packed with dropped items. You literally find at least one coin on ever outing.
Thanks so much for watching and sharing your experiences. Happy hunting!!

@@RG500_detectorist Thanks for the explanation about how those coins got in that feild ..still seems odd to me but 1000s of years with people walking around with coins it makes sense i guess ...Yes Id say you have the better metal detecting opportunity in Europe than we have in the USA.for sure and I'll check your Facebook ....

@@bri-hq4on I've heard that the invention of pockets in clothing wasn't until 1700s

Yes, I'm really pleased that I arranged the dig, as although I didn't find all those amazing things, it was fantastic to see what others found. Amazing how much was hiding there. I've arranged a return visit for the 30th, with 3 new fields. Hopefully it's as good. Couldn't believe the one guys who was finding buckles galore, an iphone, ipod and some other amazing things. ❤

Thanks so much. So pleased that you enjoyed our finds. Hopefully see you on a dig sometime. I've just bought a Coiltek 18 from Regton in Birmingham. They seem to be great 👍
