    I work in a hospital here in Sweden and we never aks the patient what bloodtype they are we always check blodtype with a so called BAS-test that covers ABO-system and some other stuff. and its only valid for 5 days after that we will take that test again. If it is an emergency then the patient is given 0-negativ blood that can be given to more or less everyone.

      @OscarSommerbo Місяць тому

      I have a tag with my ABO blood type in my jacket, because I am silly like that. Would that be ignored and you would type my blood? In my case it doesn't matter as I am AB+, so I am a universal receiver.

    • @Narjoso
      @Narjoso Місяць тому +1

      @@OscarSommerbo yes it would be ignored, if you will recieve blood for the first time then we take what we call a "blodgruppering" that shows if you are ab+ or b+ ect and that test you don't have to take again its registred but we always take a "bas-test" thats valid for 5days, so if you get a blood transfusion and then you get another one 10 days after the first we have to take the "bas-test" again, and if it is an emergency lets say you are bleeding out then the hospital will give you O negativ blood.

    You can fire someone for drug or alcohol related stuff, but only under certain conditions. they've done something to cause serious disruption or damage or threat to the company or staff, just to name a few. Usually, these things are discussed with the union beforehand. The rehab chain is strong, and although all employers are required to follow it, there are plenty of loopholes they can jump through. Especially since it's usually cheaper and easier to just pay the fine than deal with all the rehab stuff. There are 0 consequences for not following that law.
    Black liquorice is an acquired taste, as is all food. Eat a little every day, and after a while, you'll come to love it. A fair warning, though: liquorice, if consumed regularly, is poisonous. You can get liquorice paralysis by eating it too often. A small treat here and there is fine, just not daily.
    We can and do take vacations all year around. It's just that summertime is when the weather is the best and, well, schools are out. Traditionally, many factories closed in July, so that's where that's from.

    About Snus ... it is sold in the US as "White snus" (tobacco free / ZYN) with a much higher nicotin content than is legal in Sweden.
    Edit: Everybody that donates blood (or has donated) know their blood type. Anyone who needs a blood transfusion will get the correct blood type at the hospital, we do have laboratories at the hospitals

      Zyn is available in Sweden also and I do not belive that there is a legal limit (atleast not anymore) that dictates the amount of nicotine that is ok in snus since we can purchase snus like Thunder X which have a nicotine content of around 45mg/g in stores compared to Zyn in the US which is a maximum of 9mg/g I belive and white snus like Supreme that contain 120mg/g nicotine (I belive it's American from the Zyn craze there but it's also available in Sweden although havent seen it in stores yet, only on websites).

In fact, Siberia snus is sold in Sweden, and that's the strongest brand of all (of tobacco snus) with a nicotine content exceeding 40mg/g, though that's not sold in grocery stores from what I've seen (presumably because it's an absurdly high dose) and only online and in tobacco specialist stores

    Well, Snus has actually existed in the US for about a decade or so now. Swedish Match fought hard to get into the US market, and they did. So Swedish snus is now sold in the US. However, I think that during the time they tried to get in to the market, Phillip Morris (or whomever makes Camel cigarettes) made a snus of their own, in the format of Swedish snus. There is a major difference though, where the American made version is highly carcinogenic as it is not pasteurized and has a ton of additives. There's even a 60 minutes episode about it.

I have heard about people being in the country without permission (or who for whatever reason feel the need to lie about their identity) claiming to be someone else, which is bad if the other person has a different blood type on file. Or you could simply misremember. Given there's time for it checking the blood type is safer for everyone.

    The addiction thing, it is not fully the truth. They can fire you, if it effects your job. Most companies will first to try to help though.
    Uh... the toys and games. Limited how? I really dont understand that one. Expensive, yes, but limited?
    The bloodtype thing. Most people dont know it, but it is in their medical journals, which is all hospitals have access to. If it would be unkown, they use O-, as almost everyone can accept that bloodtype.
    Btw, snus is called snuff in english :) Or dip.

      They can't fire you *because* you have a substance addiction, they can fire you if you don't do your job properly, which may or may not be indirectly related to your substance addiction. Your blood type may or may not be in your medical journal, depending on whether it's been checked and recorded during an examination. If it is, both you and medical staff have access to it, just like with all your other health-related data.

    Here I thought, that as an American with all the "getting shot for trespassing" talk, you would have your mind blown by "Allemansrätten" or "the right to roam" where you are free to walk and even camp, on all land, including privately owned land, as long as you respect the private home boundaries (i.e. don't camp in the backyard) and when you leave the camp site you restore it to the way you found it.

    Drug or alcolics can't be fired due to thier addictions. True, but not entirely so. Your employer is by law forced to do what ever they can to provide help (get them to doctors, book appointments and so forth) for that employee, however it is still the responsibility of that employee to accept said help. If you choose not to and keep on as usual your employer do have the right to fire you. But thats quite a lengthy and complicated process.
    Also, many over here are complaining alot about or healthcare system. I can tell ypu from own experinence. When the shit hits the fan and rhe doctors and researchers grinding their gears to tru and save your life, its a pretty fckin awesome healthcare system. Also, a company is obligated to lend their hand and offer you help to sort the addiction out of the picture. It does not mean you can simply keep doing it and let it affect your job. If it goes on long enough and you don't get your shit together you WILL eventually be fired. If you have an alcohol problem which is a legal drug so to speak, they can tell you to stay off alcohol entirely and send you to clinics for blood tests to check if you are still drinking. The drug policy in sweden isn’t that great. In fact it is falling way behind most countries in Europe. To get help you have to have 6 months of documented addiction. And if you get on a program and relapse, which is super common for people with addiction. You can get kicked out, now with the additional addiction of counter medicine. Health care in Sweden isn’t centralized so the help you can get and the type of medicine differ from comune to comune. If they put you on a medication that dont work, You might have to go to Denmark to get the help you need.

    Comparisons of tax levels between the USA and Scandinavia are not entirely easy to perform. A lot depends on which US state you live in, marital status, number of children and so on. The taxes for ordinary, working people in the USA are not at all lower than the taxes for ordinary, working people in Sweden. However, the Swedes get more for their money. However, you will not be "punished" if you become rich in the United States. The opportunities to avoid tax are significantly greater in the US if you are rich, Attitudes towards taxes are completely different - in Sweden it is not accepted to evade taxes.

      Swedish "rich" people do their fair share of tax avoidance. Mostly fiddling with companies "owning" their wealth, or change residency to various tax havens. For the vacation, here we have payed vacation for 4-6 weeks (depends on extra benefits negotiated by the union for different sectors.) It increases with age aswell, starting at 25 days by law, when you reach 40 you get 31 days. I understand that in the US you have a lot less, if any payed vacation at all, unless it's a benefit - not by law. So from that perspective i dont see how the US citizen are free to travel whenever they want? We can save days and take them off at different times of the year, it also somewhat based on sector of work, where some have their high season in summer, and then they dont have vacation in summer, except maybe for a week or two. We can also save up to 2 weeks and allocate them for a future year when we might need more days off. On top of this we also have payed and unpayed parental leave up up to certain age, i believe to 14 years old. Aswell as "unpayed leave" that can be negotiated with your employeer, but you could take a year off or more off without pay, and then come back to your old work. It is not uncommon that families combine all these options to make extra long holidays or travel the world, testing moving abroad, major renovations done yourself etc.

    • @melnerud
      @melnerud Місяць тому +2

      The increase in the amount of days for paid vacation when you get older only applies to jobs in goverment or public areas (statlig och kommunal verksamhet) for all other work for example in privately owned companies or large enterprises it is most common with 25 days of paid vacation (whereas you whould take at least 4 weeks consequently, most common during summer) sometimes you can have 30 days of paid vacation as well as a slightly higher monthly salary if you make an agreement to not take extra benefit for overtime work.
      When you work at an industry with 24h production 7 days a week all year round, you have to plan your summer vacation with your coworkers, so that some people always will be on site (day time jobs). Not everyone can have the summer vacation at the same time, because some people need to work when others are away. Some year you might have 4 weeks in June, another year 4 weeks in July, and yet another year 4 weeks in August.

    My team has taken punctual to mean you enter the meeting within 1 minute before the meeting starts.

    Not quite right about that you can't fire someone with an alcohol problem. You can, but you must first offer the person help and the person must accept the help, if the problems persist after that or if the person does not accept the help, then he/she can be fired.
