Hi mate. Got the ub6050 now for a few months. Done settings and did presets for different type of use. Verdict: It's okay compared to other projectors cause there is still no competitor in the price range and above: 2500€-5000€ and with 5000€ there is the improved version with ls12000 which isn't being refined in terms of black levels sadly.. Sony got to much issues so next would be JVC NP5 for 6999€. So i'm okay with the Epson overall but would just wish for better black floor (dark home cinema). Cheers, Chris.

Sorry for the delayed reply Chris, my thoughts exactly mate. Even if I could bring myself to buy a laser the fact I'm part of the ls12000 facebook group has made me realize that the blacks are still no better than the 6050 sadly. And the ls12000 in Australia is something like $9,000.00. I don't want to pay that much if it's not a significant improvement in blacks.
I haven't totally dismissed the idea of getting the 6050 though. Mostly because of the price and what you get for your buck. But yeah I'll be seriously looking into a JVC (hopefully bulb) when the time's right.
As for now I'm still loving my EH-TW4500. I was marveling at it last night actually (on my 150" 16:9 screen). But there will come a time when I'll need to light up my 180" 16:9 screen. That time's approaching fast.

Have you considered the LG hu810p laser projector?
Although not motorized it's 4k with laser and the movie Tron legacy is off the charts in regards to detailing in the image and the lights on thier suits will make you loose your mind 😎
Just wanted to mention that there are other options 🤜🤛

G'day K Man! mate I'm so sorry for the delayed reply. I actually did check it out after your recommendation. I'd love to see it in person as well 😁 The only problem I have with Laser projectors is that there comes a time when you have to throw them away. I know it's after 10,000 hours usually, but it still rubs me up the wrong way. Especially when it's normally on eco mode. Which means it's more like 5000 - 7000 hours on anything brighter. And if you've seen my channel, the right to repair /recycling is pretty important to me and this just feels like the ultimate case of built in obsolesance. But hey it's still pretty exciting stuff and I still love following how the whole laser projector journey goes. Im actually hoping to get a few into review once my build is complete 😎👍🤞

@@DIYDumpRat Thanks for getting back to me!
In actuality the complete lifespan of the laser light source before decay starts is 20,000 hours. By that time there will most certainly be a different type of projector on the market as I more than confident that we would both upgrade by then 😉😁
Im watching your videos and enjoying 👌👍👏

Haha, mate for me projector technology has got to the point where I don't need any other upgrades. For example 8k? Not in the slightest bit interested. And I'll have a 180" screen 😎 As long as the picture rocks and it's reliable and lasts. But it's interesting what you said about it being 20,000 hours... that's a bit better. I thought it was 10,000 like the latest announced Epson lasers. I thought JVC were the 20,000 ones. Actually I can't remember lol. But it doesn't mater lol. I want all of them! 😅
And dude! That makes me feel so good 👍I put alot of effort into those vids and rarely ever get feedback so thanks man 🙂👍

The LG is a DLP projector, which has way way worse black levels than the 5050/6050ub. The Epson's would kill any DLP that's under $15,000.

Thanks mate! Yeah my friend has it back now. He said that a lot of people have uploaded their specialised calibration settings to various sites and that he's going to try a few of them out to see if he can get the picture any better with out having to pay some one big dollars to do it. But he's really liking the picture as is right now. We're also going to darken his whole room as well which should improve the image dramatically. At the moment it has white walls. Awesome projector 👍😁

JVC and Sony are WAY overrated. I just ordered the Epson 6050ub, no way are Sony and JVC projectors worth 3x the price of the Epson. It's insanity how much more they charge.

Agreed, I don't believe they're worth so much more either. But they have us by the proverbials unfortunately. I'm just glad the 6050ub exists 👍 Mate let us know how you get on once you get your new projector set up.

They struggle with some issues theirown but: Well you never saw true 4K - It's a huge difference, vw295 was in for 3700€ before newer modell🍿🎬

@@ChristianBungert but I did see true 4k mate. It was side by side with the Sony vw590es. There was absolutely no difference at all. None of us could see a difference. In fact I had to keep looking above my head at the projector to make sure I was looking at the correct one lol. I'd waited years to compare Native to fake 4k and was shocked. And like I mentioned, I have excellent eyes lol 😁👍

@@DIYDumpRat That's weird cause we (wife and I) had a whole different experience: We saw Benq "4k" ht 5550 vs Epson "4k" ub6050 vs Sony true 4K vpl 295 as a "A-B" demo in store and you could tell everytime the Projector was switched: Epson: Lowest details(it's only 4 milion pixels), benq: higher details (almost 8 million pixels, some DLP have higher than full hd panel) and Sony: By far the highest details meaning Resolution( full 8 mil pixels without Shift). I know people switching "back" from epson ub 6050 to Sony native. Make Sure to have a good streamingbox (apple tv 4k, shield, fire Cube) or UHD Player connected to the projector to show all the richness in details of picture quality. Gaming consoles as i have the ps4 pro aren't really capable of 4K, that became obvious when i connected the fire cube and had the "Wow-Effect" of the store experience finally again 🍿🎬

@@ChristianBungert Yes mate, I know what you're saying, I know the science behind it, we just couldn't tell. And like I also mentioned in my video, I asked how they were set up and the seller said they were both fully calibrated and set up to their full potential playing the same UHD content. I also asked him to turn one on at a time... and absolutely still no difference. I know it's a sore spot for a lot of people but I've always reserved my judgement till I got to see a side by side comparison in person. It's only now that I can safely say there's no way I would personally let the fact one projector is native 4k and the other a 4k shifter sway my decision making. Not now that I've seen them together and none of us could see any difference. Black levels and colour accuracy is what I look for now :)
