    I have a 1080p Epsom projector still very happy with it. I have a LG 4k 55" fantastic blacks great picture but I prefer the projector picture so subtle and 100" screen just more captivating. Epsom for me they know the game. Thanks for the video.

    Wow. This was one of the best reviews Ove ever come across. Ive got a question I hope you'd be able to answer as well. Im getting the Epson. What calibration would be best for dark room, watching movies 1080p only, with deep blacks and least motion judder or blur? Is there documentation somewhete I could use? Thanks heaps.

    Just found your reviews. Amazing. Thank you. You mention the NX5 with the dynamic tone mapping. Have you don’t any comparisons between the 6050UB and the NX5 in regards to image detail, blacks, and HDR? Understand price point is higher on the nx5 but curious to your thoughts in performance of the 6050 vs nx5. My main use is movies and 4K gaming. From this review appears the Epson is very strong in resolution but concerned in future proof of the technology vs true 4K

    Amazing review. I learned that resolution and sharpness are two different things - Even though the JVC address twice the number of pixels, the Epson is by far the sharpest! I was dead sure that you mixed up the pictures at 10:42, but then at 19:20 it is obvious that the JVC isn't as sharp because the colors are misaligned somewhat as the blue is clearly not centered to the rest of the colors. (Or how to express this in words). Could this be an error from your machine or is this an LCOS-phenomenon? Anywhow, I'm going to buy the 6050UB, it is truly amazing! Thanks for a first class review - One suggestion - As a clarification of the different lamp and color modes, it would help if you wrote which color mode AND lamp-mode you are using under the projector name. You nicely explained it to the viewer, however, sometimes I was unsure, as you changed the modes so many times. This is a very small detail though. Thanks again for a truly AWESOME channel!

      It's not, actually the JVC is sharper but the fact that Epson has a much higher native contrast creates the illusion that it is sharper because details in both the shadows and in the bright areas are more visible. The same will happened if you see side by side this Epson and a eshieft D-ILA JVC like X7900, with high native contrast, despite the fact that they produce the same amount of pixels. By the way I hope you understood that this JVC here is not a LCOS, it's just a 0.47 chip DLP so it has nothing to do with those amazing D-ILA panels made by JVC.

    • @Tvspecialists
      @Tvspecialists  4 роки тому +1

      Actually, in person they look almost identical at viewing distance due to the JVC Lens not being as sharp as the Epson but having more pixels. This JVC is DLP so not a LCOS issue but since this is the smaller .47 DLP and with the JVC lens not visably any better than the Epson. If you are a gamer or serious in-the-dark HT enthusiast the Epson would be a good choice. However, up close the JVC is much smoother and film like.

  • @MajorVanBloodnok
    @MajorVanBloodnok 2 роки тому +3

    The Epson seems to have Motion Blur. More prosaicly - the frame 'ghosting' you normally get with interlaced video converted to progressive scan.
    I can't be the only one seeing this.
    It's not noticable in most of this video, since it doesn't address motion handling at all, and the clips are probably 30/60fps digital video. But you can see it in the handful of shots from movies shot in 24fps.
    It's possible the Epson had frame blending/interpolation/creation settings turned on - in which case this might explain it. Problem is I've seen this effect in a few other reviews, and not one of them has addressed this.
    Would hugely appreciate some clarification - as out of all the compromises in projectors costing less than a new car, motion artifacts making film look like video, are by far the biggest deal breaker for me.

    I have been waiting for a long time for a quality review of the jvc. Thank you. Although I must say I am still torn between the two. We watch a lot of tv and movies in our living room. Thus making laser seem like a must. I’m just concerned about the life expectancy of the epson or I would have got it long ago...

    • @Tvspecialists
      @Tvspecialists  4 роки тому +3

      Thank you, yes, that is a tough choice if the main application is for some lights on in a living room. either would work fine but I would probably lean towards the JVC due to the fact that it would not be a big deal if left on and no lamp to worry about long term.

      We do not publish our calibration settings because every projector is different. For example if yours is slightly towards the yellow side of D65 and the one we did was slightly green and you put our settings in yours you would end up with a very yellow image and skin tones would be sickly looking. You are best to use your factory settings and if and when you have someone with a color meter then set your color balance and CMS calibration.

    It would be very helpful to see a head to head review between the JVC LX-NZ3 vs Optoma UHZ-65. Considering the price of the Optoma seems to be dropping they are in close competition. I keep wondering if Optoma is planning to come out with a new model for the UHZ-65 or will they just continue to do software updates and keep the old model?

    • @Tvspecialists
      @Tvspecialists  4 роки тому +2

      Actually the price of the UHZ65 has actually gone up to $4,519 due to the new tariffs now in place. The JVC LX-NZ3 is in a very different class due to its lack of deep blacks and good brightness and why JVC has designated it as a media or living room projector. For some lights on the JVC would be the best choice for lights off the UHZ65 due to its better blacks.

    • @Tvspecialists
      @Tvspecialists  4 роки тому

      Unfortunately, no. We had the UHZ65LV for some time and had considered doing an upgrade to it, as we have with the UHZ65, but, after modifications, calibrations, and much testing, we found that although the UHZ65LV has higher brightness, we were unable to achieve the black levels, color balance and brightness we were hoping for. We just weren’t able to get enough brightness out of it to compete with the Theo-Z65 lite and the UHZ65. Although we did do side-by-side comparisons, it was not recorded by the person who compared it (it was not Ted that did the comparisons), due to the time and effort it takes to set up and calibrated the camera, configure audio and mic, etc.

    • @Tvspecialists
      @Tvspecialists  4 роки тому

      We do not post the calibration settings as the fine white balance and CMS settings are unique to each projector even of the same model. For example if this WB was towards the green side of D6500 and yours was slightly towards the red side and you put in our settings you may actually make yours worse. We would suggest you use the Spears and Munsil UHD calibration disc and you would at least be able to set the color, tint, brightness and contrast for optimum performance. We would suggest leaving the WB and CMS to experienced calibrators with color meters.
