Absolutely love the song. When it came out in 1989, it took me right back to being a kid again. Music was our amusement, and Glen Miller was one of my first big crushes, even, though I thought he was Jimmy Stewart. Lol.
The wonderful trip through music history, reliving some of the brilliant tunes that shaped the way. I so enjoyed this. ❤ Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and JKClark. 👏👏 Such a treat. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

In the UK, this song went all the way to hit #1 on the British Pop chart during the summer of 1989. The song stayed at #1 for 6 weeks. In America, the song did peaked at the #11 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart during the early fall of 1989. This was their one and only Top 40 hit in America. A wonderful banger of a song indeed!!!

The official title of the song is “Swing The Mood” and the full artist name is Jive Bunny & The Mastermixers. They were a collective of DJ’s who released another few similar megamixes (which these actually are), but the success of “Swing The Mood” was never equaled.

As you will probably know in Yorkshire if you want to get everyone on the dance floor at a wedding. This tune will even get granny on. School disco always gets moving when playing Jive Bunny. Ar School disco the best ever.

You should watch Jailhouse Rock. A great movie, great songs and Elvis playing a bad boy with a big heart. Too bad they didn't (or couldn't) use his actual voice in the medley. Probably copyright problems.

Loved your joyful reactions to this Mood Swing from big band music to rock'n'roll and back, mate! As good as Glen Miller and the 40's were, the 50's and beyond were gonna top it. Yet, even so, as you mentioned, the beat remained the same!

I bought all the 10 singles they released on 12" here in the UK. The first 3 songs got to Number 1. I think people got bored with them after a few more singles. But i loved them because i was a fan of the old songs they used in the mixes.

Music is so subjective. I either grew up hearing these songs or was there as they were released on to the air waves as a kid. But.... here it comes.... Though I like all these tunes I feel that the Glen Miller In The Mood is probably, almost, the perfect song. It hits all the buttons for the styes and styles of music I like to listen to. I like almost all kinds of music from the world over and I'd like to listen to it and blues and related music is a preference BUT, again, Big Band Swing seems to hitting all my buttons at 78 years of age. Enjoy your music but keep your mind open!!

I was a little confused by the title. Glen Miller was declared dead 1945 after being lost in a plane over the Atlantic Ocean and all the other songs were from the 1950's, except the performance of All Shook Up, which was from Elvis' 1968 comeback TV special. Overall I thought whoever put this together did a great job and obviously spent some time syncing all the videos to the drum beat. The only things I didn't care for much were the stuttering transitions and the fact that Jailhouse Rock was sped up so much to fit the beat that Elvis sounded almost like one of the Chipmunks :)

    • @ptournas

@@jennyjorgensen9935 Your right. I knew Jailhouse Rock was sped up and thought that was the reason, but when I just listened to it again at 75% speed, as you said, it clearly wasn't Elvis.

They did have issues. If you ever bought any albums after the first one-Jive Bunny The Album-especially the cheap ones Swing The Mood and Thats What I Like were re-recorded with soundalikes. If you like the Glenn Miller stuff then look for an album called Swing The Mood by the John Anderson Big Band.Thats basically the basis of Jive Bunny without the Bunny.

The next best Jive Bunny compilation is "That's What I Like" which gives samples of more great music. What most people don't know is that the people singing these songs are not the original artists - they were John and Andrew Pickels (father and son). Also, this clip is not the official one that came out when this was originally release...if you do a search on UA-cam you will find the original video.
