My aunts baby died because she got sent home by the hospital and she ended up having to give birth in her home and her baby had major complications and passed. So when the doctors told my mom to go home she refused and waited in the lobby the whole entire time.
Omg that's horrible!!!😥😥😭😭💔💔💔 Smart of ur mom to do tho..I'd do the same especially since I'm not at all close to the hospital and I'm not one to take my chances w that kinda shitt!!!
Heard stories like that and I told those I know. Don't go back home. Hospital is where they should provide help for you 🤰🏽 emergency or not emergency. Your mom did well. 💕
It's important to note that talking, being asked question, bright lights, feeling exposed or watched, and feeling rushed are all things that can stall your labor, and it's extremely important to also be well informed before consenting to your waters being broken, and pictocin.
IDK about your hospital, but I've been sent home and I was genuinely in labour. I almost didn't go back as I was so insulted by the hospital's complete disregard to me actually telling them I was in labour. They did an exam and said I just 'think' I'm in labour, I came back about an hour later and had my baby within minutes. I almost stayed home to catch it myself as I didn't think the midwives were competent. It does happen, their excuse was that I handled the pain too well.
That's bad practice on the hospitals part surely they could see cervical dialation when they checked you they should know women don't always need to exhibit pain in active labour phase...I didn't my second time until the last 20mins of pushing...either that or you dialated quickly and had a quick birth.. glad you made it through mama always knows best I say trust your instincts they should have
There certainly are things you can do to make your labour easier. Doctors have an awful habit of highjacking women's labours because it isn't going according to the hospitals arbitrary timeline. Firstly, we KNOW from the literature that stress significantly impacts the labour. It can slow the labour, halt the labour and even reverse the labour,. Many things can contribute to increase in stress during a woman's labour, including unsupportive medical staff, or birth partners, not having a private and quiet place to labour in or not being listened too, and not having access to natural pain medications. Another huge factor contributing to slowed labours are constant checks, monitoring and interventions, such as unnecessary cervical checks (there is zero evidence to confirm that CV's improve outcomes for women and babies - but substantial evidence that then can slow down the labour particularly for women who find them painful, or who are uncomfortable with the personal intrusion), the over use of inductive medication which DO increase the level of pain women report experiencing, and being relegated to supine positions on the bed/not able to move intuitively as their body would have them move. This usually occurs due to the insistence of some hospitals that constant fetal monitoring is necessary. Again, there is no evidence to suggest that constant fetal monitoring of women who have healthy and low risk pregnancy's increases maternal or neonatal outcomes. Different story if you're in the higher risk category. Being able to walk, move, use baths, balls, heat packs and showers during labour in low risk pregnancy's is known to improve outcomes and shorten labour time. The medical model of birth has saved the lives of many women and their babies. However, we can do better than just saving lives. The quality of a woman's labour and birth is important as well. Her physical health pp is important. Her mental health pp is important. I wish the medical maternity community would stop treating birth as though it is ONNLY dangerous. This is such a one sided narrow view of birth and it's so typical of a hospital to espouse this garbage - rather than empowering women to do what our bodies are naturally designed to do. If any ladies are reading this, please please please look up alternative channels to this one. Look into hypno birthing, natural pain relief techniques etc. as well as the availability pharmaceutical interventions incase you should need them. But understand that all come with risks as well as benefits. All doctors, midwives and hospitals are not made equal. Be informed. It's great to know and understand the medical model, but don't blindly trust hospitals either (as much as they do alot of good, they're not without their faults and systemic corruptions). Believe in your body, ask questions and don't allow yourself to be railroaded by ignorant hospital policies which sometimes care more about bed turnover, and profit than they do about your personal birth experience, and the health of you body during and after your birth.
Don't like how she didn't talk about natural things, walking, change position, keep moving, get in water, etc but talked only about medical interventions. Really like all the videos overall
With my first baby I had a midwife refuse to do my labor with me because she didnt "do long labors." Because she assumed with my first baby it would be long. Turned out I was only in labor for 5 hrs, including the 15 minutes of pushing. Really wished I could of thrown that in thst midwives face. She was so rude to me. But the midwife I did get, was amazing and I loved her! Hope to get her again this next pregnancy.
Youre so right... this is their routine procedure... I wish my body would follow the rules!! 😂 I dilate to 4 cm, then hang out there for several hours...with minimal discomfort...then Bam!, go to 10 in less than a min, and deliver fast and furious(not as glamorous as it sounds).... so, if my obs and midwives followed their routine, I'd have all unattended, homebirths...(I've had one)... with hemorrhaging risks from the past... I'm glad to have providers who listen to the mom and go with their instincts when appropriate...😍
I ate Dates after 36 weeks daily and walked. Did some kind of squat thing I found on UA-cam for two days and i believe it made my water break. My water broke by itself 4 days before my due date at 9 a.m and had a baby at 4:45pm first time baby. I feel like I would’ve had her earlier if I would’ve known she was going to be 8.8 lbs instead of thinking she would be 6! Would’ve pushed harder to begin with.
She really needs to mention that the trend is that labors tend to get shorter the more pregnancies youve had, that it's not always the case. My mom had an 8 hour labor with her first and a 16 hours labor with her second... I mean that's not usually the case, but it happens.
I was 18 when I had my baby and it was my first and from the time my water broke to the time I had my daughter my labour was only 6 hours! I had a midwife show me exercises and stretches to help me get baby in ready position for a faster labour.
It would be nice to mention exercises and movement during labor, using the toilet regularly and having a peaceful, calm time without bright lights and tons of onlookers... These are scientifically proven to help the baby engage and move downwards/keep the right oxytocin levels naturally. It's misleading to only mention medical procedures.
@@humanbeing3946 delivery was not progressing as they hoped after 10cm, and the baby drinking amniotic fluid and I was too tired to do any bushing the waiting was to long ? Maybe epitdoria was a bad idea? Yeah. It's past now. I thank God 🙏

I wonder if having labored over 18 hours as a FTM (then having that birth end in c-section) can still allow my body to birth a little bit faster than if I never labored at all for my up and coming vbac... I remember my the 1st time... even after having had the epidural... feeling the baby's weight down there cause a ton of pressure, so much so, I thought I needed to push. Helpful?
What happens if youve been contracting back to back for 10 hours without stopping and without dialating? Then you start to get a fever and feel like you're about to faint? Wouldn't that be considered labour and being home a bad idea?
A fever during labor or late pregnancy is a potential sign of an infection that can cause serious injury or death to the baby or mother and ALWAYS warrants being checked into a hospital. Labor or no.
I have heard that labor with my 2nd baby will be about twice as fast as my first but being that I was induced the first time, is there anyway to tell how fast this labor will go? My first (induced) labor was only a little over 7 hours, from the time they inserted the cytotek to the time my baby was born. Is there anyway to kind of have an idea at what length of labor I may be looking at this time, if I go into labor naturally (no induction)? I apologize if this question is confusing. I was hard to word this question!
It gives women more knowledge of how labour progresses because many new mums are anxious when they first feel any slight twinge. They race off to hospital, I did this with my 1st. I learnt later it’s better to labour at home for majority of contractions because it’s much more comfortable at home. Your labour progresses faster when your comfortable. A hospital setting can feel artificial, white, bright lights and can make a woman more anxious. I remember hearing a woman give birth in the room next to me she was screaming so bad and it made me feel scared. I got in the hospital shower and didn’t feel at ease, I sat in the bed and the mattess and pillows are very firm with plastic feel. At home a woman can be snug in her warm bed, get in her bath, watch a movie to pass the time, there’s food and drinks available she knows where everything is, etc But of course a hospital setting can ease anxiety to a degree for a lot of women because once they get there they know they and their baby are in safe hands. I think they are just trying to educate people to help them not feel as angry or upset if they get sent home because they are only 2 cm dialated. They don’t care that people come in because it’s good they come in to check so they confirm whether it’s labour or not it’s just they can’t have heaps of women sitting in beds for hours on end when there is a lot of women who have progressed and need to birth their child quickly. It’s just triaging and standard practice plus education for mums

probably because you knew what was coming and maybe got more scared :P
Evil woman, if a woman if in pain do not tell her she is not in Labour it only scares them because if the pain is already severe they panic thinking about how bad it is going to be.
But if a woman isn't in labor, there's not much to do because she isn't in labor. She may just be in bad pain. They shouldn't lie to her if she isnt
