@@derekhudson3523 I agree. It got interesting for 5 second when they thought he was the Zodiac killer, but that went away quick. It's almost like they were excited that he could be a famous killer. There's really no evidence at all that he ever did anything. And I'm not defending him or accusing anyone of lying. I'm just wondering how a documentary gets made with absolutely no evidence whatsoever. And the fact that he was dead makes it even worse. You can say anything about anyone when they're dead.

I'm a fan of true crime documentaries. I don't want to go into an exaggeration, but from The Thin Blue Line to American Nightmare, I must have seen no less than 300 or 400. I wouldn't hesitate for a single second to say that The Truth About Jim is the worst crime documentary I have ever seen. There is simply no case: there is no evidence, there is no support, there is no information, there are no slight indications of any kind, it is three hours of smoke, or air, perhaps nothingness itself. This is sustained - it is attempted to be sustained - with weeping ladies who go through a process and "heal", although it is not very clear why (everything ends in the same place it begins...) As for the crime, they ramble, they paranoid, no proof is presented that the man was an abuser (although I do believe these women, they are obviously victims, but that is another story: I am talking about presenting evidence) and without able to prove anything, they take the matter further: they presume that he could be a serial killer. Of course, they do not present a single piece of evidence either, and when one believes that the collapse is already inevitable, they triple the bet: not only is he a serial killer, he is TWO serial killers, because he could also be the Zoodiac killer. I have no words.
A similar height and the same shoe size. That and the sadness of these poor women try to sustain this outrage to the viewer. Do yourselves a favor and don't watch this garbage.

This is an amazing series. I’m a 59 year old father with a 20 year old daughter. I just watched The Truth About Jim. It’s hard to describe what I’m feeling right now. As each story of sexual, physical and emotional abuse was told my heart was breaking. As each victim told their story I was literally saying out loud “I’m so sorry this happened to you”. And I prayed God would bring healing, comfort and peace to each one of them. I wish I could do something to help them. But I realize the best thing I can do is thank them for telling their stories; and encourage all victims of abuse to tell their stories. If the first person doesn’t jump at the chance to help you then keep telling your story until someone does. If someone told me they had been abused I would become their advocate and stand with them to seek justice and help. I’m not a special person; and if I can say I’d be proud to help a complete stranger there must be one person in your life who will stand with you. Please don’t be silent. There are many good people who despise those who abuse the vulnerable and would be proud to support you.

Isn't it wonderful they broke Jim's cycle! I'm just not getting much truth out of this exercise in coincidences... that was excruciating to watch while hoping to see some true evidence. In this era, with all the available support and all the media finger pointing, it's getting harder to find some claims to be credible. That this unfortunate woman found herself more than once in violent vulnerable positions begs one to ask, JUSTIFIABLY, just how so naive can anyone be. While it may be probable that Jim was human scum, it does not mean he was a secret serial killer. I think Jim might have been more the opposite, in personal situations, had he been a heinous killer capable of creating code with the usual red cast most Californians have before they sunbleach out completely... The sexual revolution created by the pill that women chose to take, and all of it's swinging antics is not the fault of one gender, perhaps some all around recreational drug tests and further investigating might shed more light on the whole situation??? What Jim has to do with this poor filmmaker's trauma, is absolutely nothing. She's doing it to herself.

If this guy was the monster they attempted to portray him as there would have been thousands of allegations. The fact that there are ZERO credible allegations outside of the individuals who directly stand to benefit financially from this gossip documentary tells me a lot.

Very sad story and I feel awful for the victims. However, as a piece of media: this sucked. Bad pacing, not really that interesting. I don't know if trauma alone is a strong enough foundation for a piece like this. Felt like 3 episodes of trauma dumping more than anything else.
It's important for the truth to come out about this situation but idk if the best context for it is in piece of entertainment. I feel like people are too afraid to say this was bad because they want to be supportive to the victims, but it's not a criticism of the victims, it's a criticism of this as a piece of media.

    • @derekhudson3523

I'll criticize the "victims." I'll guarantee this guy was trash, but I also believe we have laws and a system in place to help victims of crimes. I completely agree with what you're saying and I hate to leave this documentary with such negativity towards the women, but ultimately there was no evidence. With all the young lives this man has been involved with as a teacher, there should have been a line of people with awful stories with details. We have just the mom saying he said things to her that were "sexual" and "violent." Sorry, but I'll need more than that. This feels a lot more like a cash grab defaming someone who is dead.

There are shows about trauma, like "I Survived..." that do have an audience. If I were a film maker I probably would have used this story as one of several accounts of kids who were abused by teachers and now are in middle age and can talk about it. That kind of story would actually help people. This show seems like it's just speculating about the guy being a serial killer and the speculation is grounded in practically nothing. That's a waste of everyone's time.

I cringe when there is an introduction and the person acts surprised. Does the camera crew already there not say who they are? 😂
So much of this stuff was probably known beforehand and it came as no surprise to those involved, but, they pretend to be surprised. I just felt this was scripted, forced.
More than anything, this showed a time in American life where parents weren't micromanaging their children's lives. It is wild to think about how much things have changed, since the 70's.
