To be honest, Miguel was the only one who knew Connor, like actually knew him. Even his family thought he was just this ball of rage. That's fair, but if you read the novel and take the time to assess Connor's actions, you start to realize that he only really lashed out in defense (i.e he shoves Evan because he feels attacked but then in the book, Evan mentions he looks shaken up). Except for the whole thing with Zoe (although we don't know how many times it was or the circumstances behind it. Personally, I think he had some sort of breakdown where he lost control cause it doesn't match up with his normal behavior which is to lash out in defense and run away). But the point is, behind the mask of anger that everyone saw was a person who no one but Miguel really knew.
This changed my whole perspective on the song. With the beat it’s easy to think of it as a happy song, but in reality this is some fucked up shit that Evan feels guilty for but also wants it to be true.

I was in class when someone said rough and my brain but also my dumb mouth was "KINKY!" I took a few seconds to realise I had said that out loud...They were staring at me and I was like "AND I MISS TALKING ABOUT LIFE AND...OTHER STUFF!" my bro of a best friend came to the rescue saying Jareds line "very specific..." this was one of the most embarrassing things that ever happened to me. But thankfully it happens with a lot of musicals. So they don't think I have a strange fetish...I thank my friend for saving that one though. I wanted to sink into the ground...

@@ObbiesAreVeryHard Yeah, theres a book by he same name of the musical. I reccomend reading it as it does go into a few things that the musical doesnt cover. Plus, i personally think that its easier to follow the plot in the book. I definetly recommend it. :)
Connor’s dad actually did love him and tried to get to know him, Connor just didn’t want to. I think the reason Connor’s making that face is because he actually IS gay (as stated in the book)
The saddest part of the musical is that their friendship is one of the most wholesome i have seen, and its not real. So if you excuse me, i will go cry on the floor
Ikr. Honestly, trying to explain the plot of DEH to someone who’s never heard of it is so complicated… it always comes out sounding worse than it really is.
The fact that it's so wholesome and perfect just adds to the idea of Evan longing to be in a dream-like friendship without knowing it's so unrealistic, and that just shows how lonely and unexperienced he is and just- god I'm making this even sadder
A small detail that I love that I don't see anyone talk about is Evan looking kinda ashamed on one of the last "sincerely me" lines because throughout the musical he's not been sincere at all, he's been building a fake friendship with a dead person off a complete lie and this is just the icing on top of the cake, who knows if that's what szin was GOING for or maybe I'm looking too into it, but if that was what they were going for I really like it!!

And in that video Evan and Jaden are making fake notes that they write... Evan and Connor is actually not friends and they're making fake notes to make them to be friend... The way that Conner was animated to always be in the computer or glitching as an image really made it so that you couldn't forget that they were making it all up and that the "Conner" they were writing for never really existed... Kudos to the animator because I thought this was better and more clear than the actual musical, fantastic work!

Okay, WOW! This was amazing and unique. I have never seen a Sincerely, Me animatic where Connor was in the computer and there’s actually typing in the background. Connor being in the computer and also glitch emphasizes how it wasn’t the actual Connor but an artificial, fake one. And Evan being in the computer but also in next to Jared once again emphasizes the artificial and fake aspect but this time with their friendship. Then Connor hopping out of the computer emphasizes how the lies spiraled out of control. And the looks on Evans face. The worry. Just wow. I’m just absolutely blown away.

Many “Fans” have this love for Connor that can’t be accurate because the Real Connor is barley seen or developed, the Connor people incorrectly ship Even with is a Connor of Even’s Imagination, and can’t be a real ship. Having Connor behind the screen is so clever because the Connor that is “revealed” through the emails is purely out of the creation of Jared and Evan and thus doesn’t really exist in the real world
It sounds so wholesome out of context and your animatic reflects that with that viewing in mind, but the subtle flickering of Conner and how Evan and Jared act before getting into it reflects the contextual horror of it all. Especially when you get to "re-in-ven-TION!" They're reinventing Connor's memory and putting words in his mouth. There's a line in the musical that was cut from the movie where Jared says about how Connor loved trees, and then was like "oh no, wait Evan, YOU loved trees". That line just cuts through all the bullshit and I love it

Well I didn’t like this joke very much. I would read a good fanfiction with this ship but what the writers did there was homophobic and trashtalking the dead, just to appeal to the fangirls. They should leave the shipping to the fans and just focus on story and characters.

So before you post your hate comment, how about you actually take the time to analyze the song, because it actually gives a very deep message.

I know this is old but this is still my favorite animatic. A lot of them I used to see, I didnt have a clue of the story, and just thought it was a fun song. It still is, but this is the first one that had me realizing that it wasnt ACTUALLY Connor. And thats when I looked into it more and fell in love with the story and the fandom.

Not even one minute into the video I decided this was my favorite rendition of this song (in terms of animatics). It's suprisingly unique. I can't believe this is the first time i've seen someone have the take of it being in the actual email/document or whatever. I loved the way you used that spin to your advantage as well, with the keyboard shortcuts, and selecting the characters to move them around. And the text being typed in the background! It sucks that who we know of connor isnt actually him. The 'Connor' that we know is just someone imaginary. No one knows who the real him is. The Murphy's and everyone else believed this and is just sucks alot. 'Good For You' was heart breaking. Evan has really bad anxiety and the amount of lies piling us was just to much. Then comes 'Word's Fail' and i just- ugh i love this so much.

I love the emphasis on Connor being a character of Evan's invention by putting him within the laptop, brought closer and closer to life with each faked email, until the caricature of the person becomes so big and convincing he _leaps_ out of the screen and becomes, for a moment, _real._ Until, of course, he isn't, and so he returns to the digital, fabricated world where he, a digital, fabricated version was created. Plus, the way it isn't shipping fuel and actually -- as another comment has mentioned -- shows Evan expressing signs of guilt and discomfort at what he's doing to the memory of a recently-deceased schoolmate. (I saw this in my subscriptions and I almost didn't click on it because I was so, _so_ tired of Sincerely, Me animatics that were nothing but Treebros.) And not to mention the little touches and add-ons (Evan slamming the laptop closed, the words being typed across the screen, the stock images floating by) that really made it all the better. Keep up the amazing work!
Also I love the subtle things that Szin does! Like when Even is getting angry at Jared you can see Conner checking his watch and also whenever Evan is in the computer he has his cast on and in the real world he doesn’t

Bianca Perkins I'm pretty sure it is because if I think about it, Connor and Evan met only like, twice? And both times they ended up fighting or something by those lines. The relationship mostly focuses on the Connor we see on these songs, sweet and friendly towards Evan, but Connor wasn't like this. This was an alterego that Evan and Jared created to make it seem like they were friends. After this, Evan lies about their relationship. As much as I love Evan, he never cared about Connor commiting suicide at all as much as he cared about dating Zoe. He psychologically played with Connor's family, and even tho he had good intentions, he knew he was doing something wrong. I respect people shipping it and this is just my point of view, but I wanted to make that clear. Edit: fixed some typos.

The fact that it's so wholesome and perfect just adds to the idea of Evan longing to be in a dream-like friendship without knowing it's so unrealistic, and that just shows how lonely and unexperienced he is and just- god I'm making this even sadder
A small detail that I love that I don't see anyone talk about is Evan looking kinda ashamed on one of the last "sincerely me" lines because throughout the musical he's not been sincere at all, he's been building a fake friendship with a dead person off a complete lie and this is just the icing on top of the cake, who knows if that's what szin was GOING for or maybe I'm looking too into it, but if that was what they were going for I really like it!!

The way that Conner was animated to always be in the computer or glitching as an image really made it so that you couldn't forget that they were making it all up and that the "Conner" they were writing for never really existed... Kudos to the animator because I thought this was better and more clear than the actual musical, fantastic work!

Connor being in the computer and also glitch emphasizes how it wasn’t the actual Connor but an artificial, fake one. And Evan being in the computer but also in next to Jared once again emphasizes the artificial and fake aspect but this time with their friendship. Then Connor hopping out of the computer emphasizes how the lies spiraled out of control. And the looks on Evans face. The worry. Just wow. I’m just absolutely blown away.

Having Connor behind the screen is so clever because the Connor that is “revealed” through the emails is purely out of the creation of Jared and Evan and thus doesn’t really exist in the real world
It sounds so wholesome out of context and your animatic reflects that with that viewing in mind, but the subtle flickering of Conner and how Evan and Jared act before getting into it reflects the contextual horror of it all. Especially when you get to "re-in-ven-TION!" They're reinventing Connor's memory and putting words in his mouth.
There's a line in the musical that was cut from the movie where Jared says about how Connor loved trees, and then was like "oh no, wait Evan, YOU loved trees". That line just cuts through all the bullshit and I love it

I love the emphasis on Connor being a character of Evan's invention by putting him within the laptop, brought closer and closer to life with each faked email, until the caricature of the person becomes so big and convincing he _leaps_ out of the screen and becomes, for a moment, _real._ Until, of course, he isn't, and so he returns to the digital, fabricated world where he, a digital, fabricated version was created.
Plus, the way it isn't shipping fuel and actually -- as another comment has mentioned -- shows Evan expressing signs of guilt and discomfort at what he's doing to the memory of a recently-deceased schoolmate. (I saw this in my subscriptions and I almost didn't click on it because I was so, _so_ tired of Sincerely, Me animatics that were nothing but Treebros.) And not to mention the little touches and add-ons (Evan slamming the laptop closed, the words being typed across the screen, the stock images floating by) that really made it all the better.

This has to be the most creative "Sincerely Me" animatic I've seen. The way you played around with the concept and the audio? Brilliant. This is not what I expected, and I am not disappointed. You made it quite easy to tell that Evan and Jared are using Connor as a puppet, which many people in the fandom seem to not think about. Also, love that you did not just focus on the shipping like other people do but still added the obvious connotations (as a person who does not ship Tree Bros I have to thank you for that).

I'm pretty sure it is because if I think about it, Connor and Evan met only like, twice? And both times they ended up fighting or something by those lines. The relationship mostly focuses on the Connor we see on these songs, sweet and friendly towards Evan, but Connor wasn't like this. This was an alterego that Evan and Jared created to make it seem like they were friends.
After this, Evan lies about their relationship. As much as I love Evan, he never cared about Connor commiting suicide at all as much as he cared about dating Zoe. He psychologically played with Connor's family, and even tho he had good intentions, he knew he was doing something wrong.
I respect people shipping it and this is just my point of view, but I wanted to make that clear.

Honestly I love how you can see Evan's internal struggle with the fact that he's making all this up throughout the whole video. It's something that I haven't really seen in any other Sincerely, Me animatics but realistically should be there considering the actual play.
