Ms. Nancy Wilson was and is 1 of "Favorites" I had the opportunity to see her live shortly before her passing, @ the Theater N Rahway N. J. with my Big Sister. She Performed with the i believe the performers were the "Jazz Diva's" an ALL FEMALE GROUP. I must say the "Real High Lite" 4 me was working @ the Nwk, Airport as a sky cap and CHECKING her N @ the curbside checkin on her way back home on the West Coast. And yes I got her "AUTOGRAPH" and still have it, N my safe deposit box. There will never ever B such a "Classy & Beautiful" Person and Spirit like "Ms.Nancy Wilson" May she like my Mother "Rest N Power" love and miss them both as I'm TEARING N my conclusion..!!!😥😇🥰🌷🌤🙏🤲

Well said! I love her style and that she sings to tell a story! She didn't let show business define her, therefore she could be creative with her music!

She is still so lovely and grounded. I was lucky to see her when I was a teen ager at the Coconut Grove in Los Angeles. She was fabulous and a mesmerizing combination of sexy and elegant.

Nancy retired, is why you haven't seen her lately, she's 80 as of 2017, and wished to spend time with he family, well deserved after about a 60-year-long career!

The only negative I've heard about the Adderley date is shortness of the program, which is scarcely 30 minutes, if that. As far as "jazz singer," Tony Bennett recently announced that he was a jazz singer at the end of one of his concerts to an audience more familiar with "rock on" than "swingin' out." It came as a revelation to his audience--as it should. People no longer know what jazz is--C&W, hip-hop, scatting, turn-tabling, DJ-ing, streaming has won out. But Tony took the songs of the American Songbook and, like his predecessor Frank, made them real. Jazz singing is taking the American Songbook--or songs of that quality (Berlin, Kern, Gershwin, Porter, Rodgers, VanHeusen) and singing them in the African-American tradition of rhythm, blue tones, and personalizing. It's not that fay cabaret approach. It's earthy and bone-chilling / heart-warming. Advice to all young musicians: learn the past, learn the Songbook before you knock yourself out trying to be yourself. You need to identify your oral history first!
