I am so depressed because of my hearing loss, i'm 19 and i should be talking and making friends but because of my hearing loss i rarely have anyone to call my friend especially to talk to because of my hearing loss. Can't afford hearing aids for now too. I really hope a cure would come so that maybe one day my life would go back to normal

Don't hold your breathe. It's going to be decades if not never before hearing can be restored on a general scale. I've been waiting for half of my life and I'm 72. Get hearing aids at Costco, they sell them, fit them, service them for about $1,500.00. If you go to an audiologist, you're going to be hit with a $5k to $8k bill! for hearing aids that aren't any better than what Costco sells.

Some states have recently enacted laws that require hearing care for anyone under the age of 25 if they are in school. You may want to check into possibility to see if you qualify for hearing aid assistance.

Man that's suck! I see that we can get this cure in 10-20 years. In meantime, you can try your luck at learning sign language and find a community or through online game. But results may vary cause that kind of story is decade old, I do try couple but resulted in 0 plus most game with text based chat isn't my thing.
And even I don't know if that kind of friendship can be replicable in this era. But out of all place, I got luck on youtube comment though.
Mine also start to detoriate too can't think what the future like for me especially I could only hear through left side of ear which currently cause a lot of mishearing . Oh, I got a lot of free time and lots of book reading so if you wanted to share or talk I can!

Chelation therapy was once a bad word in establishment medicine because some renegade doctors were getting encouraging results in treating cancers. A doctor in California had to serve time in prison and lost his license.

Interesting research. My tinnitus is definitely a result of loud noise exposure because i can pinpoint the incident when my tinnitus began. I can’t remember when my hearing loss started. I have had a few vestibular and hearing issues for years now. I would definitely volunteer if a research opportunity existed in my location.

I could probably use some hearing aids, but after reading how loud they can be I am starting to wonder if that's a slippery slope as well. I mean, hearing damage starts around 90 dB, but some hearing aids can jack sound up to 125 dB. Do I want to be exposed to that level all day? Probably not!

Firing a weapon inside a building will absolutely harm your hearing. Probably the loudest sound I've ever heard... and I've been near recoillesss rifles, mortars and artillery, spent many hours inside helicopters and military aircraft. But being in a room and shooting confines all the concussive force and concentrates it like a speaker cone.

That inability to separate multiple sounds is age related. There's a technical term for it, but the common term is the "tea party effect" where younger people can pick a voice out in a noisy room, but older people can't.

Apple Watch (and I guess others) are able to measure constantly your sound exposure, very useful, and I guess pretty accurate since the software is designed for specfic hardware
Also if you use AirPods Pro 2 with it, you can have an estimated level of noise reduction, pretty interesting
I really hope we’ll find some treatement to cure this type of hearing loss, as I’m more and more in fear to not be able to understand people at all of enjoy music because of all noise exposure from all sorts. Majority of people look like they don’t even understand the issue and don’t do anything against. This need to be changed

This second generation production of podcasts and the like….it's ear splitting sound.
Turn it off…..well it’s not done practically, lose your connection is the least of the problem. Cannot practically turn it off at every occurrence.
Writing through the podcast providers yields nothing, neither does mentioning to the content host.

although i am not sure if they detiorate slightly over time or if maybe i put themon over a hat at times, makes them slightly less effecitve.
but for the past 2-3 months this year i haveput in foam in my ears, Plus that. but still not sure. my lawn takes about 1 h to 1 hr 15 inutes to cut. and it is a push mower gasoline powered. not sure what the decibal level is for the mower.
i also have for the past few years made sound on tv, radio an dat work on the lowest volume i can but still decently hear, i might turn it up a little if it is something i want to hear better or if the CAC or heate comes on with ambiet noise. but i still make it as minimal as i can.
and i do work in an office , so my environment is ok. i try not to go to lud places very often either.
but i stil sometimes feel lik emy hearing tinnitus goes back and forth. sometiems it is better otthre times is is not as good.
