I picked up that same tool as your matco tool for $38 amazon works perfect and Im a 35 year veteran dealer master tech. learned decades ago that those sort of tools are not made by snap on or matco they simply are made in china with their logo stamped on them or with a decal and then they charge 10 times the cost.
EXACT same issue with the gasket blowout. I hate this Explorer so much. I'll never buy another ford. Just got done replacing the stupid plastic cam chain guides, now this. Thanks for the video bud.
Yes, dorman 615-175 will work for both styles. Right next to thermostat hole you can see a threaded hole. That is where nipple threads in for hose from pcv. If you dont have a heated pcv they provide a pipe plug with intake.
I plugged end of hose and left it tucked behind alternator. Coolant is still in hose and keeps pcv warm. It just doest flow. It has been 2 cold winters and have not had issues of pcv icing up. Most dorman intakes are plumbed for both styles.
Hey, I purchased the Dorman manifold. The description stated "wont work with heated PCV vehicles." What does they mean? Everything seems to line up and it has the ports for those nipples. I'm reluctant to install.
What's the fix for replacing a "heated pcv" intake with a "non-heated pcv" intake? In your video you don't address what you did about the heated pcv connection. What did you do about the heated pcv?
I've had this same problem with my 2002 Ford explorer 4.6 with the plastic intake how do I get one with the metal on it to keep the thermostat housing from cracking because the part store keep getting me the wrong one because the gaskets want line up in the back
Ya, get a rubber cap with a clamp. Or if nipple unthreads, just plug it. Most all dorman brand replacement manifolds come with that hole/nipple in it. (covers all makes and models then) which at that point they supply a plug for it.
hey man one of my spark plug threads were stripped and I had to put a heli coil with spark plug but the coil was pushed inside the hole... What do I do? or can I do?
Go get the cal-van set and drill out your hole bigger. Pull out helicoil then retap hole. The cal-van inserts are bigger/beefier then the cheaper sets so the hole size you drill is bigger. Should be big enough to get your insert out with a small hook or magnet or something.
what truck did it came from year and engine because I got the same intake on my ford explorer 2002 but I having problems to search for the water outlet housing it licks antifreeze I bought it like that the water housing that came with it didn't fit can you help me out wich one you used
The only difference are those nipples being there or not being there. Ports and everything else is the same. The dorman kit comes to work on both styles now.
