My first taste of Texas didn't have blue eyes and blonde hair, she was a Tejana. Since then I've been through two wives and this little Tejana still has my heart. It's been almost 40 years since we met and I don't think there has been a day gone past that I haven't thought of her. Thanks for this song.
I have always appreciated this guy's work. My favorite will always be Girls, Women and Ladies. Ed Buce , with proper marketing would have been bigger than most who are household names
use to live up the road from Bruce...should have paid him a visit...great singer.. romantic..handsome..now I got a guy that can sing...sexy..love the taste
Damn this sucks. One of the singer/song writers that was what "country" was and should be. I didn't know he died until now. Just like when many others pass its just a sad day. They just don't make them like they used to.

@@sergosakhamberidze7309 lol did you ever learn about the Texas Revolution or Mexican War of Independence or American Revolutionary War,and this song never said anything racist if anything the music that people listen today is more racist then ever
You sure don't hear this kind of music in the current "country" pop bubble-gummer stuff they try to pass off these days. I'm thankful to have lived in the BEST of the Country/Western music years. Thanks for posting this.
A real country singer & cowboy. Nowadays Nashville wouldn't have a thing to do with him. Country music will never be the same- the 70's & 80's were the best.
No, the 70s and 80s were the last of the best, a downturn that ended the great American class of music. It consisted of bluegrass, country, western, and soul. It was uniquely American a class of music that will never be duplicated.
he is actually from Northern Arkansas a little town called Statesville which about 5 miles from the Mississippi River and 30 miles south of Arkansas/Missouri line. but he does sound a lot like he is from Texas and Tennessee mix
Not to split hairs, but I read that he was born in Keiser, Arkansas. Perhaps it and Statesville are neighboring towns. A damned good singer, even if he's from two PLANETS away!
I can name several unsung country legends. Gene Watson, Jim Ed Brown, Leroy Vandyke, Johnny Rodriguez, and recent ones I can think of is Garth Brooks. You really don't here much out of Garth. That's why I just enjoy You Tube. I get to here music that you can't on any other web site. It is a pleasure to search out these old songs. Most of these singer/song writers are from Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri. I find this interesting about these song writers.
I was just a young teenage girl back in the 80's, and I have been a huge country music fan since I was 13. I'm 52 now. Ed Bruce had a voice like no other. I seriously doubt that there will ever be another country music artist who sounds even remotely like him. I am so glad that I grew up in the 80's. In my opinion, 80's and 90's country music is the best. Today's so-called "country music" sucks - for lack of a better word. Ed Bruce will be terribly missed. There will never be another Ed Bruce. He is irreplaceable.
I’m a little older than you and this story hit real close to home for my cheating ass. Substitute Florida for Tenn. and I lived the words to this song.Ed Bruce was the best. You never heard anyone who could cover his music. He could still sing late in life. Your comments were spot on.
He is the sound of opening titles or ending credits, the voice when you look out the window of a bus of an inner city as the world speeds by. He's inhuman, a part of nature not a mere mortal

I agree this should have been a #1 Billboard country hit. "After All" is another classic that should have hit #1 for Ed Bruce.
This man Ed Bruce can just flat out write great songs and then sing them so they rip out the feelings from your heart and soul.
