- After our night at Strumble Head the car park is starting to get busy so we head back to Fishguard for a walk around the town and to pick up some supplies.
After our lunch stop in a lay-by we pay a visit to Castell Henllys Iron Age Fort to see the reconstructed village.
Our next stop is at Pentre Ifan, a Neolithic burial chamber and then our park up spot for the night by an impressive cairn.

11.45m., very very windy outside, snugged up in bed, Lucy the dachshund curled up by my feet, watching your video. What a wonderful way to end the day, thank you. Nite nite xxx🐾😴
Hope you slept well in all that wind. Take care 🙂
Sounds nice
It's a Cormorant. A Shag has shaggy feathers on it's head...that's how I remember it. 😊
Thanks for that Jayne, now we know 🙂👍
Little Red Camper goes "Time Team." Very cool.
Haha what was that little subscribe graffiti on the wall? A bit of subliminal advertising like the BBC 🤣🤓 love it.
Glad you noticed 😂👍
Wonderful drone footage. The burial chamber was interesting. Mmmmm tasty curry. 🙂
Thanks Michele ☺️
A truly beautiful video, thank you so much!!
Hi guys, thanks for giving us a shout out, and Janines curries! 💚 Funny what you said about converting you 🤣 Loved the video, loved the sun, loved the wildlife, loved it all 👌
Thanks for watching Liam & Janine ❤️
there is a lovely cinema in fishguard. Fishguard my 2nd home visit every 6 weeks with a 5 hour drive each way.
So the car park in the sea view we stayed a few years ago in Harry on New Year’s Eve - it’s a paid spot but thought I recognised it in Fishguard. Bummer on the chicken miss I guess it’s just call coronation
Its our contribution to COP 26
Whatever happened to, 'spend a penny, eh'?!! Another great video, thanks guys!
One day we will need a mortgage 😁👍
Tony Robinson better watch out - cinematic videos and soothing commentaries.
Regarding the ornithological question I never had any success in asking " Do you fancy a cormorant " 😆
Haha, thanks Fraser 😂
I just really enjoy watching your adventures XO
Looks like a Cormorant
Funny looking birds, almost looks pre historic
Hari OM
Would have thought they were Black Welsh Mountain Sheep - but the presence of significant horns suggest they are actually Hebrideans! That was a juvenile Cormorant earlier - Shags are smaller and have a head tuft.
The Welsh coastline and peaks have very similar appeal as that of Scotland - yet, no doubt, there are differences and ambience to compare - and you brought us on another lovely meander! Ta for that. YAM xx
Thanks Yamini. You are a mine of information on all things animal, bird and landscape. Very helpful and much appreciated 👍😀
Lol Ken n Carol Pam n I did this

I am loving your adventures.I hope you travel to the Lake District next.
We are bound to at some point but check out our previous trips if you want that now 😁👍
Enjoyed watching while having lunch.
He was a gorgeous little robin, they are so tame.
Hello Ken / Carol I enjoyed this video beautiful country side I think the brown sheep were Soay sheep they are an old breed found on some of the island off Scotland . I love the old dolmen and the drone footage you did looks a like like around Ballymoney with its dolmen's , very interesting village the hut would have been very comfortable to live in back then. Take care thank you for the video.
Yes I think you are right. Those fires would never have gone out back then.
awesome. I love travel.
Adding to the sheep debate. Soay a common breed in the Iron Age 🐑
I saw a similar round house on loch tay in Scotland but that house had a small opening at the peak to let the smoke escape
Spent at of my weekend watching some of ur older videos. Sorry I didn’t find ur channel earlier when u did ur trip to NI. Looking at the places u visit there was a lot of history attractions u missed such as the ulster American folk park. The famine village. Hey there’s plenty to take u back again and Donegal in the summer is an amazing place I’m sure u would enjoy with plenty of wild camping park ups
Thanks for watching Marcus and the tip about the Ulster American folk park. We will have to go back to Ireland one day and visit the areas we didn’t have time to see on our last trip 🙂👍
superb and im enjoying your channel you both come accross so natural and im enjoying watching as i dont watch any tv
That’s good to hear Paul. Thanks for watching 🙂
Just found you guys and I love you already! All the best from sunny Cornwall ❤️🐚
Hi Claire. Welcome to our channel. Thanks for watching. Hope the sunshine lasts ☀️😎
I enjoy your channel:) Enjoying this
Lynn on Hubby's phone mines playing up 😏, When you was going to visit the burial ground , it made me think 🤔 when we're traveling around we always keep an eye open for burial mounds across the country , I know we're a bit weird 😂😂, Do you lookout for anything as you travel around ? 🤔🤗, Take care xx
Just lately it’s trees 😂
The recreation on the hill fort certainly helps to bring it to life and imagine what life would have been like. One of these thatched huts would have been good for the meet up too.🤣👍
Can just picture us sitting in there round a fire 🔥 😂👍
Loved the little “animal” eyes peeking out!!👀
😁
Five stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thanks Kenny ☺️
Simply stunning.
Hello Carol and Ken. I'm so happy, that I found your vlogs, with which I have been allowed to spend so many days. Greetings from the southern archipelago of Finland.
Thanks for watching Ritva. We would love to visit Finland one day.
@@LifeistooshortCK I think you would like Finland. Wild camping here is very easy too. Welcome 🌹🇫🇮
Absolutely gorgeous scenery 🤗 a truly relaxing journey with you both ❤️ Living in the USA I’m amazed how narrow the roadways are that you travel. I can’t imagine trying to take our 30 ft Motorhome through any of those places! Glad you have the Little Red Camper ❣️
Would love having a big RV to tour the USA but we are so glad our van is small enough to cope with the narrow lanes over here. We can certainly get to a lot of scenic places away from the crowds. Hope you and your family are well ❤️😀
@@LifeistooshortCK well, you can always borrow ours in the US if you visit here, but she’s an old girl “Big Bertha” and she has her quirks 😂😂😂 Family is well, thanks for your well wishes!! @@theflippintoothfairyjackie5702 Congratulations 🎉 Love to all your family and the new arrival 😀👍
Thank you for the video. Excellent drone work. Almost everytime I have a noisy lunch top and then leave, I see a much better one, half a mile down the road. But you just never know what is round the next bend.
Sod’s Law always in play 😆
Your drone footage was epic. I like the narrow winding roads you find to travel on. Such a peaceful video. Mary
Lovely video Ken and Carol. I'm sat in the bristol heart institute watching this. My wife Mandy had a replacement aortic valve last year and shes just having a routine checkup. Loved the drone footage. I visited Pentra ifan burial chamber myself about 8 or 9 years ago.
Glad to hear it’s only a check up for Mandy 👍. We enjoyed Pentra Ifan, one of the better ones now I am going to have to see if you did a video on your visit ?
Cov id lol love how you say it. Love the vids guys.
I find the study of old stone habitation sites fascinating. Here's why :
a) That they sat around until someone said "Let's get some Heavy-as-F8ck-stones and pile them up on top of a hill" to which half a dozen men presumably yelled out "Yes, we've nothing better to do that's a great idea".
b) "This is proof to me that there's a committee involved" - Billy Connolly.
c) Imagine being there when the project manager and chief engineer said "Right you lot, we need that stone up there placed precariously on those other stones". That would have gone down faster than a lead balloon.
d) Imagine being there when all the lads were told how heavy the rocks were and said "OH get f8cked" and walked off the site. Even with a huge bowl of Weeties or Corn Flakes in the morning you're not going to have the energy to lift a bloody great stone to above head height are you ?
e) What gave the people back then the motivation to spend all their energy placing rocks in a pile that won't even keep the rain out is a mystery to me.
But the alien theory is just as absurd :
1) Why would aliens fly right across the galaxy only to help a dozen cave dwelling Welshmen stack up a pile of rocks ? Why would they help them ? And if they had the power and technology to lift huge stones then why didn't they build something a bit more user friendly like, oh, i dunno, an apartment block ?
2) Imagine being there when the aliens finish (presumably quickly) building the stone structure we see in this film ? Imagine the opening ceremony. The local chieftain makes a speech and says "Thanks to our alien friends we have done the impossible - placed a heavy-as-f8ck-rock on top of others, we've wanted to do that for some time now but could never quite figure out how to do it"
"I now decree by the powers invested in me by the lady of the lake in a farcical aquatic ceremony this attraction to be open"
3) Afterwards, the chief and the alien are having drinks on board the mother ship and the aliens ask the chief "Are you happy with what we built you?" to which the chief replies "Yes, it's perfect, just what we always wanted thank you" The aliens flew away thinking how nice it was to help out the down-trodden oppressed people of Wales..
4) For centuries afterwards, parents took their young families there. That's where the stories of fairies and pixies come from. Kind of like the first boy scouts. All the kids running around playing Ring a Ring a Rosy. But when they hiked the entry fee the business went broke and fell into disrepair.
The aliens did eventually come back in the 1960's only to find the Welsh had started digging holes and so they decided to keep going and come back in another 1000 years.
Of course, the other theory that explains this pile of grey odd-shaped stones is that it was built by some university kids with a JCB and telehandler......
Interesting theories Ade but my money is they started by digging three small pits and pushed the legs of the tomb into them.
Next they excavate around that piling all the earth on too of these stones until they are just buried.
Next they build a ramp and drag that big stone on top using oxen.
Next they pile earth on top and pack it tight.
Finally they dig out the tomb and entrance tunnel. 😁👍
All sub contracted to a roving band of diggers travelling by oxen called Tombs R Us 👍

Thanks so much for your lovely comment 😀👍
Entertaining and interesting video as always.
Hi both, I've had the battery problem when using a tablet for navigation. The USB charging from the vehicle wouldn't keep mine running in my Peugeot 3008 when I had it. I found the best way was to use a 10 or 20,000 mah power pack with a fully charged tablet. In the coarse of the day you probably flatten both but at least you can charge then overnight. Remember, if your using a tablet without sim capability it's actually using more power connecting to your external GPS as well. It won't manage as well as if it had everything on board like a 4g one plus your vehicle battery won't necessarily be giving your peripherals the lions share of the power. Look for an email in a day or so too, if I remember in the morning what I want to tell you Ken. 🤔🙄
Will keep an eye out Nigel 😁👍. Battery packs do work well but take forever to recharge in the van so we try and just power everything from the engine or leisure battery on our trips. 👍
The black sheep look like "Hebridean" - I have some
Watching carol examine the stone tools for grinding wheat berries, makes me glad that my grinder is electric powered. I do have a hand grinder if needs must , but I prefer my electric grinder as I make my bread weekly. At this time of year when I bake squash, I also bake the seeds then grind them up and use in my breads.😋
Love that you use the squash seeds to make bread. No waste and delicious tasting bread 😀
Great vlog as usual, great place for the drone. 🚁
Thanks Rupert, it was indeed 👍😀
That peacocks sign is a bit unfortunate 😂😂
Love this video 🙏🏼
Thanks for watching 🤗
Did you like the coleslaw sandwich, even if you wanted to eat chicken🤔 another good video, you never fail👍 looking forward to the next episode😁
It was very tasty. Sad part was I didn’t even notice there was no chicken 🙄😁👍
40p to spend a penny 😮 wow!!
Great video and drone footage
I loved the iron age camp, I must see if I'm in that area.
Shags & Cormerants have different breeding plumage.

Great stuff. I feel all relaxed & ready for bed now. The camelbak flask arrives tomorrow! Back in our masks again like Wales x
Watch out drinking from it if the top has been closed. It keeps it hotter than you might think for ages.

Great video, very interesting. I was a bit worried when Carol asked to take your photo in the burial chamber! 😂 Thanks for sharing your adventure.
Me too! I was a bit worried too how Carol positioned Ken underneath the 6-ton stone. Ken, you haven't signed any new life insurance policies, have you? lol. 😁💖

Thanks Susan 🙂
Enjoyed the episode as usual. Would have loved some of that curry. You made great use of object tracking for the titles Ken.

Another great vlog both. Very interesting imagining what life at the fort might of been. The coleslaw sandwich might been better digested at Parrog Beach car park less than a mile from that lay by you chose😉
Thanks Frazel. That’s the beauty of local knowledge and why we are always grateful to receive tips of where to go from people who know the area. The Parrog looks lovely 👍😀
You need a USB-C PD (Power Delivery) adapter and a good USB-C to USB-C cable (Anker). This will keep your iPad Pro going all day.

Another great vlog, I particularly like the drone work. I think that those ‘cairns’ are just rocky outcrops. I wonder if the yellow car could have parked any closer. Regards from a cold Solent Coast. AJ.

Good evening little red camper really enjoyed that and love the way ken talks to God's little creatures 😊 Nice to see Carol relaxing whilst ken was cooking. I was eating prawn toast at the time 😃

There doesn't tend to be many no camping signs due to it being a no wildcamping law in wales. Pembrokeshire has been cracking down hard on this this summer especially at freshwater beach park ups.
They were all over the place when we were last there but we didn’t see any on this latest trip. I don’t like those signs which say it’s illegal without the landowners permission. What act and section are they relying on ? I think it’s all bluff as there are no penalties being displayed and the legislation that they will quote only applies if there are 6 vans present and even then you have to be causing serious damage or nuisance and then they can ask you to move on. They want you to fear a penalty.
@@LifeistooshortCK yes it depends on what council is dealing with it some are more lax
I read that they were changing the rules so it was easier to penalise one van instead of a group.
I also found this online but know you choose your locations carefully and would move when asked but its just a heads up.
"If caught wild camping without permission, you will be found guilty of trespassing, however, as this is a civil offence you cannot be arrested for, you will likely be asked to move on.
If you do not leave immediately when asked to do so by the landowner, somebody acting on their behalf or a police officer - or if you return to the same spot within three months of being asked to leave - you may be found guilty of committing the criminal offence of aggravated trespass, a crime that hold a maximum penalty of three months imprisonment, or a fine of £2,500, or both. First time offenders would likely get a fine of between £200-£300."
Exactly as I thought. They are selectively leaving out crucial components of the offence. Without those components (i.e. at least 6 vans and siginificant damage) there is NO criminal offence (which is why you can’t be arrested) and it remains a civil offence. We would always leave if asked to move but I don’t like being conned.
At the start i thought that Carol was going to get a tattoo. Mmm coronation coleslaw sounds yummy. A good evening for me firstly Ken and Carol, a chippy tea and then strictly. Would you like to go on a yurt holiday site or do you prefer the little red camper. Lovely vlog with interesting content. Many thanks for sharing.Liked the pic that Carol took and i was going to say very nice 2 old relics together.. Only joking ken 😂 ❤️💙 XX
We like trying all sorts of things 😁👍
Love the vlog's, thank you for such a relaxed calming experience. I feel at times, I'm almost with you on your adventures.
If you go into the setting for each i-pad you can check the battery condition, it should show if there is an app unexpectedly burning all the power. If there is nothing amiss maybe clear all the cached apps and do a hard reboot?
Will do. Thanks for the tip 👍
Beautiful area your exploring. 40p for a P bit steep . I think they are taking the P!. PS where did you get your magnets? great idea
The magnets are on our Amazon page 👍

Just watched your excellent video. Noticed you cooked rice in the Ridge Monkey? What sort of rice did you use and how did you cook it please? I had no idea this could be done. We like to use our Ridge Monkey as much as possible
That was a pouch of Tilda steamed rice , the sort you can cook in the microwave in two minutes (other brands are available). Just heat it up in the Ridge Monkey for a few minutes. No need to add any oil or water.
Thanks for your swift reply. Just discovered your channel so the vlogs will keep us busy for a while 🤩
I have been campervaning for about the last five years & go to Devon every year have done Scotland ,Ireland& Wales, I have nothing against wild camping & the way you do it really affects nobody but over the last few years I have noticed more & more car parks are putting up height restrictive barriers. I drive a Ford Custom pop top camper & it is becoming harder to find car parks where we can just park in, not camp, I am told this is all down to prevent people wild camping so even those wild camping done properly affects no one it is having a knock on effect on campers / motor homes not being able to park in as many places.
Hi Ian. I can’t speak for what is happening in Scotland but I do know why most councils in England are putting up barriers. During the summer months a couple of places got hit hard by large groups of travellers that rocked up for a long stay and heavy boozing. They had a major negative impact upon local businesses and the rowdy behaviour caused many tourists to leave. Councils want to prevent rather than cure hence the barriers. The downside is they also impact good people. This is the main reason we chose the van we have. It doesn’t have the comforts of a big rig but we never have to worry about height barriers in car parks. What we do has little impact, what large groups of travellers do does. 👍
Where do you find this lovely music.
Artlist. 👍
It’s November 2021, so do you stop camping out or will you touring continue through the winter ❄️

@@LifeistooshortCK I’m trying to get my wife to camp out now we have a diesel heater.
I got confused after watching your video on condensation and thought I’d missed the end of your Wales tour! I’ve just had another quick look at this video to check and remembered your comment at the beginning of the video about looking to change the little red camper and then there was no mention of this again, probably why I forgot to ask about this commenting! So are you looking to change the little red camper?
No we are not changing the van just joking about the iron age fort 😁
The Wales trip will continue with the next episode. I posted the bubblewrap video early to help some friends 👍
@@LifeistooshortCK I probably picked that up when I watched the entire video. I wondered if the condensation video was in response to the question Happy Days raised about their van. Either way, Hopefully your video was helpful for them.

Hi folks, I've been watching your channel for some time and enjoying the videos.
As both of you always look clean and well groomed, I've been wondering what you do about showers. Going a few days using wet wipes and a hot flannel etc would be OK, but how do you manage on your extended trips?
Regards,
Malcolm
I think its one of the myths of campers that you need showers and a proper chemical toilet. Longest we have been away is about 5 weeks and flannel washes have worked fine for us. I promise we don’t smell at all but the secret is to steam the flannels every day. We have yet to be somewhere baking hot so that might be more difficult but my gut feeling says not. Every now and then we check into a hotel for one night but that tends to be if one of us is not feeling well. That can often save a trip.
Hi Ken and Carol , I’ve just noticed that you have a very cute i pad holder on the dash , is this a specialised piece of kit or have you made it ? Either way please can you tell me where I can get one , many thanks , Caro 🚙

Contactless payment for toilets, that’s a first time I’ve seen this
They want to get rid of cash and we all need to be concerned by this plan. When currency is purely digital we will lose control of what we can spend it on. Bought too much meat ? They will prevent you buying any more. I saw an article about the Bank of England asking the government to make up its mind about do they want the currency to be programmable or not. Programmable means they can turn on and off your ability to pay for things. Just think, they will be able to take a cut of every transaction we make, car boot sales, a tip for the postman, a gift to your son. I think you might sense I am not a fan of this idea. It will of course kill the black market, the cash only payments at the Chinese takeaway but I wonder what the criminal gangs will do ? How do you pay for drugs if every transaction is tracked by the government. Fraud will Sky rocket.
Do you live in your van full time?
No Claire it is too small for full time living 🙂
