I'm from UK and have Latvian friends in Latvia and England, I love Latvia and Latvian people. It's not always easy to make friends with them but when you do, you know it is real (no BS or cheap fake smiles.) That is why I have been visiting Latvia for 20 years and I have an apartment there!

Judging by the answers Latvians are educated, open minded people. Definitely would love to visit some day.
It’s not that bad actually, except for some, most people are friendly with each other. I think as long as you are respectful and nice to other people they will also respond nicely. When I was working a customer service job, I really liked people who came from Russia because they were always very polite and nice. I recommend to come in summer when it’s warm, so you can enjoy the sea side! 😁

You would have no problem visiting Riga or Daugavpils, your countrys mission during ussr times was pretty successful. You will hear Russian everywhere you go. Most services presume your language is Russian before Latvian. Which is something I don't entirely approve of... but anyway if you run into a latvian that doesn't understand Russian ,English will work.

Recently we had Latvian people visiting us (my daughter studied one year in Riga and she still speaks Latvian fluently). They were making the same statement like yours, about Russia invading....
For me, after thinking about, this sounds much more like a well prepared and well planned propaganda from the West, fear spreading to your people and allover.
Russia wants security and territory in the mostly Russian speaking East (Donbass) and in the Crimea island. But they are not even interested in whole Ukraine, much less in Poland or the Baltic States.
The fear mongering from all NATO states in one voice made the Baltics bravely send weapons to Ukraine, speak up with "big mouth" and war mongering, trying to influence EU to send even more weapons.......
You could have stayed neutral, or at least observe better, instead of following blindly the insanity of interests by the USA and the European Union. My country, with a historical neutrality (Switzerland) gave up as well neutrality and I am not happy about that. Greetings and may God bless your people by depending more and above all on him.

@gus1thego: Personally speaking this entire series (countires you don't like) has been an eye opener for me. Majority of the people answered negative when they were asked if they dislike any country, which really amazed me tbh. I learnt that we all have prejudices, but that shouldn't be considered as a dislike for that particular country 🙏🙏 thank you brother for sharing this.

Also because sometimes there's no simple answer. Personally, I could easily point out the countries whose governments I don't like, but it doesn't mean I hate the country or its people

That's because eastern European countries see the US as their master. The west has Better standard of living, more developed etc while eastern europe and especially Latvia is poor

It depends how you measure poor country- living standards in average is same like in UK - health service is way better in Latvia -same as education- about opportunity to earn money it’s bigger odds you will be rich in Riga then in London! So it’s questionable what you mean poor country tbh! It depends!!!
