Yih know I gotta say, this was a fucking amazing interview. No trickery, no bull shit editing, just full of pure information and understanding. I have full faith that ACU will be great and I trust Alex very much because he shows he truly loves what he does. I hope he continues the franchise just like he is here.
I respect this guy. He has a clear vision of the game and what he wants to achieve. In very glad that their going back to the roots of AC as AC1 and 2 were my favourites. I will definitely be picking this up day one.
This guy is awesome. It seems like a lot of other people are begging players to but their game talking about how it's better than the last one. This guy is really just talking about the game and it's already my most anticipated game of the year.
I so love it when he says in the end ... "This is a start of a whole new generation of Assassin's Creed" We are going to get More AC ............................... So Fucking Happy !!!
Damn. This guy knows his shit when it comes to storytelling. This post may not even be read but I just hope that this guy keeps on doing what he's doing and keeping a positive outlook on his work because it looks like this is gonna be badass.
It'd be nice to be like going for a walk with Elise through the streets when you hear thrashing and fighting and the gradual uproar of a crowd in the distance. People begin to shuffle quickly, shoving others out of the way, there's a lot of confusion, and you have to make your way through the crowds, reading them, trying to find the source of the chaos. You finally reach the scene, just to witness something so horrific it makes your stomach churn, you both turn to look at each other to avoid the sight. I dunno, it was just something that sounded like it would fit the atmosphere of the setting.
I'm not into mushy love stories but this sounds very very intriguing. The way they're playing it off is a GOOD love story, not some corny romance. This will be awesome to play and watch how it all goes down.
Awesome i will be looking forward to playing the game and seeing the new version of the templars and assassins plus the love that arno and elise have, the storyline is just intriguing and gfx is a lot better than ac 4 thats for sure.
So since this game has been in developement since 2010 does that mean the assassins creed to came after this has been in development since 2012 or what??
Not necessarily, this game is the first fully next-gen release. So, this (being the animations, the lighting, the textures) will probably set a foundation for future AC's, meaning that future releases will require less work.
Game marketing these days... what happened to leaving these things as surprises? Let the gamers speculate about the POTENTIAL for a love story, don't just outright say, "Oh yeah there's a love story..." Same with Shadows of Mordor, why couldn't they keep the identity of the wraith a secret for people to discover during their game experiences rather than just saying, "Oh yeah it's this important character from Tolkein's Silmarillion."
How does it differ from Altair and Maria's love story in Assassin's Creed Bloodlines. Altair is an assassin, Maria is a templar. I know Maria defected to the assassins at the end of the story. I'm just saying that they've used the assassin-templar love story formula before
I hope Elise doesn't die during the story, that would be unnecessary and possibly ruin the story a little :( how about a happy ending in AC for once :D
Dear ubisoft. You already made a remarkable love story in the past, and it wasn't contained in cut scenes and the like. It was important to the narative, and participated to the gameplay. And that was the love story in Prince of Persia; the sands of time, over a decade ago. You can do it, next gen or no next gen.
Did anything that Alex Amancio said in this interview make any sense? I kept hearing "make the love story intertwine with the core of the narrative and not just from a cinematic standpoint but from a gameplay standpoint," and he prattled on for about a minute saying THE EXACT SAME THING OVER AND OVER in one long sentence. I was waiting for him to get to the point, but he never did, so I'm going to ask you all: What the hell was he trying to say?
Lol I was talking about the forbidden love aspect of it they changed it a little but its still a Romeo and Juliet theme whether its rival families or factions they weren't supposed to be together
aeoncz It lacks originality. It re wraps something and passes it off as the best thing since sliced bread. You don't like the same conflict in movies do you?
Unfortunately, Alex Amancio, the creative director behind this game, was also the creative director for AC: Revelations, which had the most boring love story ever. Prior to Alex Amancio's tenure, they did a great love story in AC2 and Brotherhood with Ezio and Cristina - apparently Alex Amancio didn't get much from that, which kinda worries me.
thomas brady I was thinking more of the love story in AC2 and the non- love story ending parts of Brotherhood. Yeah, he does come off a bit stalky in the first part of Brotherhood, but hey, he's Ezio. Good to come back to this thread long after Unity has been and gone. Turns out I was right to be worried.
thomas brady Maybe I'm getting confused. It was a long time ago. But I'm talking about the parts before Cristina married that other guy. I thought there were a number of scenes where he was trying and failing to keep up a relationship with her. Isn't that why she eventually gave up on him and married that other fellow? The parts after that seemed like Ezio was stalking her. But before that, Ezio was her boyfriend, so it didn't seem like stalking to me. Maybe all of that took place during Brotherhood. I don't recall.
thomas brady Well, he was young and smitten. I don't know whether I'd call being besotten with her and trying to engineer meetings with her "stalking". If it is, then lots of young guys are stalkers. Later, when she's married and he's trying to steal kisses from her while in disguise - yeah, that's stalking, and creepy. Young and in love though? I dunno - all those hormones - I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
thomas brady It was the 1400s. I'm sure there were lots of things that people did that would seem offensive now, but back then were thought of as perfectly normal. Stalking women was most likely one of them.
Captain Marvelous he shitted on all of the past ac games, but i love that, because he is telling the truth, what he thinks about the past ac games, instead of what ubisoft payed him to think, he is just being honest, if rocksteady studios would be honest like him they would say that origins is shit, but wb said them not to do so, so they did, here he is not an hypocrit.
he never said his game was better...just that it was more complex which is true and there is nothing bad or insulting in that so yeah quit your bithing
AC is far more complex then the games he mentioned. He didn't say his game was better he simply said there is more interactions with the world. The more interactions available to the player, the more work that had to be done.
The only thing that scares me is that Arnold seems to be serious mostly not that that's a bad thing but I really dislike Connor as a character and I'm getting seem really Connor vibes from Arnold I hope he is more relatable.
Based on the story trailers he seems like a carbon copy of Ezio. Which is kind of annoying cause I get that Ezio was their best character but Ubisoft needs to stop trying to recapture that and make a really original character. We all loved Ezio but we got three games with him, we're ready to move on to something new. I personally liked Connor because he was so drastically different from Ezio.
There are something that I quite like about AC Unity, the Story of Assassins Creed, wasn't one of the reasons, the worst Storyline in the entire Assassins Creed.
JhonCharlieDewitt Well, i hope she loves Arno back. Idk why, but i got the feeling that Arno loves Elise a little bit more, than the other way around.. But let's wait and see how it goes.
Made the love story part of the gameplay mechanics... Um... so I'm going to go out on a limb and say you don't mean Heavy Rain (press X to unfasten her bra) style. Not entirely sure how you make romancing a love interest truly part of the gameplay mechanics.
Not looking forward to having to babysit the chick,& u know u will, but the rest looks fantastic. Not just the cinematics, but the game play as well.Time 2 suit up
Babysitting may not be what will happen, from what i heard in a different interview Elise is actually more skilled in combat than Arno is. ( don't know is that will be the case for the entire game but from what i heard it will be for at least a part of the story )
The love story in Revelation sucked, so did the historical aspects, which other games had a lot of. I guess I just don't trust Amancio - based on his history I don't think he can pull it off. But maybe he's learned from his earlier mistakes, so I'll be happy if he surprises me.
Going to bomb...... this guy needs to start off with a game letting us know who the hell the Assassin is. This new Assassin is no Ezio. Someone who we grew to love and admire. This new Assassin looks and sounds very boring already. Much like AC3 all over again.....Btw Edward Kenway was the next badass Assassin in the whole series. So this guy has some big shoes to fill.
***** If you listen to the background on this game Unity. He is not a Assassin either. But comes into the brotherhood. Just like other AC games before.
***** Perhaps you are lost here? I mean for starters look at my Avie. I have an opinion and that is what this posting is about. I mean I have been here since day 1 of the series. So seen the good bad and ugly.
ZBlacktt I think it's mostly up to you how you perceive his character. How his back story and the way he acts in the game's story is how he comes off to you. Edward to me personally was a bad character, but only when he was in the part of his story where he was a drunk sack of shit. But at the end, I kinda liked how he turned around. Again, how you perceive Arno's character is mainly up to you.

The love story was horrible at best. Worst AC story ever! I don't see what Elise sees in Arno anyway hell he joins the Assassin's for selfish reasons (I don't there is a video or words to describe how much I hate the story) Worst AC story ever made by a human being... I was even surprised a human wrote this 0_0
just finished unity yestersay....relly desapointing game...bugs, controll not responding well, notthing about the present day that is the entire reason for the animus to exist...really shitty game...the game died when they fired desilets

so next gen might mean more detailed sex scenes
The Witcher style.
I wanted Pornhub-style.
This guy is awesome. It seems like a lot of other people are begging players to but their game talking about how it's better than the last one. This guy is really just talking about the game and it's already my most anticipated game of the year.
You and me both man
I so love it when he says in the end ...
"This is a start of a whole new generation of Assassin's Creed"
We are going to get More AC ............................... So Fucking Happy !!!
+Amit Roy It's so funny to see these comments. One year later, what's your opinion still?
This game sounds like what the series needed, hope it really is.
Damn. This guy knows his shit when it comes to storytelling. This post may not even be read but I just hope that this guy keeps on doing what he's doing and keeping a positive outlook on his work because it looks like this is gonna be badass.
0:14 as soon as he said narrative that made me so happy
1:19 correct me if I'm wrong guys but this was done before in Altairs life in AC1 and more so Revelations
It'd be nice to be like going for a walk with Elise through the streets when you hear thrashing and fighting and the gradual uproar of a crowd in the distance. I LOVED this love story
I don't know if you guys did, but I am truly kinda fall in love with elise...
This guy seems pretty great, very excited for Unity.
I don't know why, but it feels like Arno will be quite a character, let's hope his character development will be like Ezio's
Paris and lovestory. Nice Ubisoft nice.
Well what about AC2,Brotherhood both were in Italy, both had a Love Story
What about the other 3 assassins i want to play as the one with the axe
Awesome i will be looking forward to playing the game and seeing the new version of the templars and assassins plus the love that arno and elise have, the storyline is just intriguing and gfx is a lot better than ac 4 thats for sure.
_Can't wait for it_

Not necessarily, this game is the first fully next-gen release. So, this (being the animations, the lighting, the textures) will probably set a foundation for future AC's, meaning that future releases will require less work.
fuck yea a "new cycle of assassins creed" can't wait for future games hope this game lives up to its hype
This game just keeps getting better. Day one buy for me.
They pulled it off with Ezio (Brotherhood-Revelations) both of them had romances.
Game marketing these days... what happened to leaving these things as surprises? Let the gamers speculate about the POTENTIAL for a love story, don't just outright say, "Oh yeah there's a love story..."
Same with Shadows of Mordor, why couldn't they keep the identity of the wraith a secret for people to discover during their game experiences rather than just saying, "Oh yeah it's this important character from Tolkein's Silmarillion."
Well it was kind of obvious almost everything he said on the love story so yeah no spoilers
How does it differ from Altair and Maria's love story in Assassin's Creed Bloodlines.
Altair is an assassin, Maria is a templar.
I know Maria defected to the assassins at the end of the story.

Also: Make that guy head of your PR, he really got me pumped for this release.

Wow very original ubisoft another romeo and Juliet theme
Romeo and Juliet were step siblings that grew up together?
Lol I was talking about the forbidden love aspect of it they changed it a little but its still a Romeo and Juliet theme whether its rival families or factions they weren't supposed to be together
You know I think it's ok to do that theme ever couple hundred years.
Nestor Caraballo
So what? It's a popular theme with a strong emotional impact. You don't always have to reinvent the wheel.
aeoncz It lacks originality. It re wraps something and passes it off as the best thing since sliced bread. You don't like the same conflict in movies do you?

Interesting opinion on the whole love vs duty scenarios. Hopefully ubi did a good job and everyone's satisfied with the work in the end.
I hope the forsake the Brotherhood/love thing is a choice. I definitely wouldn't want that decision made for me.
better than cod
yea they tried this in ac3, but it didn't really work
Nicholas Berndt Ummm..... there was literally NO love story in AC3. nice try though
It's like a Romeo and Juliet
Hold LB to pull out your white flag
IT IS THE CITY OF LOVVVVE
This guy kept shitting on other games. Implying his game is much more complex, better even.
And he's delivering so far, so quit the loaded statements.
What game did he shit on?
Captain Marvelous he shitted on all of the past ac games, but i love that, because he is telling the truth, what he thinks about the past ac games, instead of what ubisoft payed him to think, he is just being honest, if rocksteady studios would be honest like him they would say that origins is shit, but wb said them not to do so, so they did, here he is not an hypocrit.

No harm done, man. Just took me by surprise and was good for a small laugh.

No. The answer is no.
