Great to know! 40 yo with bilateral stenosis confirmed 5 years ago. My chiropractor sent me home with a general low back exercise program and every single one of these exercise is on the printout. Thanks for the great advice! 🙂
I have stenosis but I also have bulging discs in L4-L5 and L5-S1, standing extension relieves the pain for me and allows me to be able to walk for a few more steps
I am a 66 year old male and I have lumbar spinal stenosis. After watching several videos about physical therapy for this condition, I came to the realization that my therapist didn't know what he was doing. He had me doing all 3 of the exercises you show as contraindicated. I felt worse after 15 sessions with him. I won't be returning to him anymore.
Hi from Montreal! My gmaw was from Birmingham, came over alone to Halifax at 15 yrs just before the Halifax explosion and Titanic disasters, have a nice weekend!
Yes! Great information. Consistently, these exercises are shown in lower back pain yoga videos. I knew though they always hurt me even though my form was good. I wonder about spinal twists- some times I think they aggravate the pain as well. Also, I am curious about certain weight training exercises that may have negative effect with spinal stenosis.
Thank you for your video. Hi saw your videos and I do home the exercises. I have lower back and pinch nerve left side. I’ll feel sometimes another right side my feet down left side I have numb can you make video for these problems? Thank you have a good day.
Hello sir, this is charan from India, I am suffering from lower back disc bulge, L3-L4, L4-L5, L5-s1. I am not able to sit and walk sir, While sleeping also i am getting pain, Can u please help me 🙏
@@rimisabbirpial8403 i tried 4 months physiotherapy and chiropractic. And from last 4 months I am using homeopathy also. But no use. Still I am searching for solution bro.
What is Lumbar Spinal Stenosis. The 4 exercises to avoid for patients with Lumbar Spinal Stenosis are my recommended exercises for Spondylolisthesis L4 L5 L5 S Stage 2 and L3 L4 Stage 1.
In your video of Bulging Disc L5/S1 which also is spinal stenosis you recommend the Cobra exercise. In this video you say it should be avoided. Can you explain what seems to be contradictory advise?
Wil can i request some exercises for pain on upper wrist whizch exrends to thr pointer finger! what can this pain bea? thabk you for all your exercise they helped me so much❤
I have found your videos to be very helpful but this one confuses me. Extract from my MRI say this. I wonder if these exercises I need to adapt of avoid (One P/T advised these whereas another one one asked to avoid): L5-S1: Facets and ligamenta flavum are hypertrophied. Minor circumferential disc bulge having preponderance for the left recess and foramen where it contains annular tear is mildly compressing thecal sac and exiting nerve roots more on left. Findings are causing mild left recess and proximal left exit foraminal stenosis. There is also slight narrowing of the right recess. there is no intradural abnormality. CONCLUSION: Mild degenerative disc disease and lumbar spondylosis with circumferential disc bulge having preponderance for left recess and foramen containing annular tear mildly compressing the left side of thecal sac and left exiting nerve root causing stenosis of left recess and proximal left exit foramen at L5-S1. Degenerative disc disease and lumbar spondylosis with circumferential disc bulge, small central and paracentral disc protrusion at L4-L5. Thanks
Probably worth getting some custom advice but there is a difference between nerve root stenosis caused by a disc injury and "true" spinal stenosis... I understand this is a confusing point so I am planning to make a video on this very soon.
@@HT-Physio Thanks for your quick response. In your opinion which one is mine. Have already seen a Neurologist, a spine surgeon, an Ortho and a Chiro. Yours advice will be helpful.
Can this happen due to injury, like disk prolapse esp when using force to open something, like a deadlift and tug of war motion to lift open a lid then feel a sudden shock in the right buttock.
Hi will, I'm suffering from sciatica from past 5 months, pain is not severe moderate at best, but in both legs and usually calf only, other than that its ups and downs, Shall i be worried?
I had sciatica, for months to physio every week. No help. Found a book on line, by world famous physiotherapist, Robin McKenzie, now deceased. Found the One push up exercise, he became known for, that my physio did not show me, worked like a miracle and which I use to this day if I feel the slightest twinge in my back. It just might work for you. All the best
Thanks for this video- however, it's so very confusing to hear such radically different info. from one P/T or specialist, etc, to the other. So many say this exercise or that exercise is great, others say not to do it. I'm a RN and research things so much and follow through for my degenerative disc disease and herniation at c5c6, but don't know what info. to trust or do because the very ones people tell us to do, but then others say not to. Your info. makes sense, but again, it just varies so much from specialist to specialist.
Hello Kelly, totally understand the frustration and I totally agree it is difficult to get the right advice! This video is aimed at "true" cases of spinal stenosis and usually applies to people with quite advanced degenerative changes. The advice in this video is not relevant for those with simple cases of DDD or disc bulges/herniations. Hope that clarifies things.
I know this is not on the video topic but could you please add a series on hip arthritis, total hip replacement and the resultant loading problems on knees. I’ve had 2 THAs and acutely both knees have become almost unusable and I can’t remain vertical. Needless to say, our health system is so broken I have a snowballs chance in hell at seeing someone. Gait problems from replacements or back surgery can cause an explosive problem with all other joints even years down the line and nobody really talks about this. They just fix the immediate problem. Thanks, great channel for those of us older than dirt. ❤
I know this is off topic but it’s your newest and I wanted you to see it as I’m really impressed with your channel. Could you please do a series on total hip replacement and the resulting shifting of loading onto the knees? I can hardly get out out of bed to a vertical position because of both bilateral knee pain and plus prostheses pain from 2 THAs. So it’s deconditioning city big time. Nobody, including surgeons and PTs ever really discuss gait and the resultant problems that can happen predictably months or years down the road. Thanks so much for great channel for those of us older than dirt! ❤

Spinal stenosis is s worst than a bulging disc, because with spinal stenosis u can't even walk or stand for 10 minutes without pain, I'm only 31😢
