  • How to change the oil on a 2024 Ford super duty F-250 7.3 Godzilla Tremor. 1st oil change of the 7.3 godzilla. here's the tools, oil and filter, few extra tips and tricks on where everything is at and what will help get it done. Cheaper than the dealer, but you'll need a place to recycle the filter and used oil properly. Otherwise pretty straight forward for the F-250 and F-350 and up 7.3 V8 Godzilla. Should you go Synthetic on the 7.3 Godzilla? I did on this one, we'll see if it pays off.

    Youll need a FL-820S filter if your running motorcraft Link below for that on the Zahn

    Youll also need 7 to 8 quarts of 5w 30 motorcraft:

    Just as an FYI ... I've changed my own oil for ~50+ years. On Fords & my Godzilla after I fill the oil and when I'm ready to start it; press down the gas pedal to the floor. Attempt to start. It will turn over but not start. I let it turn over until I have oil pressure & then proceed to start with foot off the gas pedal. I may be over kill but I also change my oil every 3.0-3.5K miles. Oil is cheap; iron (aluminum) is expensive!

      Changing oil at 3k is like the fuds of the gun world.😂 Been changing my oil 5k to 7k with synthetic for 25 years and ZERO engine failures. I drive nothing but GM, so maybe that's why. I put 20k plus on 3 vehicles a year. I do oil an change on at least one every month. Nothing I own has less than 100k miles. My Suburban just exceeded 210k miles, runs like new with no oil usage between oil changes on the original engine it left the factory with. 3k is wasted money and time and totally unnecessary with synthetic oils, but then again, I don't drive Fords, 😂 they may need the extra attention.

    Always do my own oil changes, Using Chevron Supreme Synthetic Blend 5-30 at 5K intervals on my 21 7.3 Tremor. Using the Motorcraft filter to avoid any BS from Ford should a warranty issue arise, I do think there are better filters out there. I started getting Blackstone analysis at 10K, now almost to 30K, all 3 came back excellent on not showing any kind of elevated wear and also the oil itself holding up. I am towing 8,000 lbs about 30% of the time.

    How long are you seeing these engines last? I have a ‘24 7.3. I know you had a turd 22. Wondering if the delam issues have been addressed. I’ve never had a ford motor fail me. My 16 150 w/ 5.0 has 150k no problems

    Do you think it's worth changing the oil after the first 1000 miles of engine break-in, or is it pointless?

    • @automotiveinquiries9673
      @automotiveinquiries9673  4 місяці тому +1

      @sun_dreaming some say its best to leave it in at least 1k as it has initial additives that help break in. Whether that's folklore or truth on gas engines, cummins does it. That being said I see no issue with changing it at 1k. I've always changed early vs the scheduled intervals, and I've only lost one engine in my car/truck history the 22 zilla. But I changed that one to at 5k and it went at 6k. It was the delam issue.

      I do it after the first 1000, then 2500, and at 5000. Then every 5000 there after.

      I'd go at least 3000 miles while also not towing anything for the first 1500. But more than likely I'd go to 5000. After doing many oil analysis, which show the oil still perfect at 7000 miles, it truly is a waste of time and money changing it any sooner than 5000.....even if towing a lot.

    My 23 makes a huge mess if you let oil hit the cooler while draining. Major engineering fail imo. Last one I made a “funnel” for the oil to hit instead of the cooler. Worked but what a pain. For a large commercial type truck, should be drained with no worries, not splashing all over you and driveway…..

    • @AllAmericanAutomotive
      @AllAmericanAutomotive 4 місяці тому

      Did they change the cooler location? I just got my 22 so I've only changed the oil once, but I feel like I had room back there for days. I defintely didn't have any erroneous splashing.

    • @lowblueranger
      @lowblueranger 4 місяці тому

      I’m not sure if they changed it, but my 23 has the cooler behind the oil plug just low enough when you drop your oil, the stream hits the cooler maybe an inch into it. It splashed all over me and my driveway. I did not think it would hit it like it did, just because I was like “there’s no way they would design it to hit that”. I was wrong.

    • @TomTruckery
      @TomTruckery 3 місяці тому +1

      I'd run a full 5000. But if you're feeling anxious, go at least 3000. Don't tow for at least 1500. You can absolutely go full synthetic, anyone who tells you synthetic is bad or can harm the engine somehow is living in long times passed. They're probably the same ones who say you gotta stick to 3000 mile oil changes.

      Got almost 2000 on it now gonna put pennzoil ultra platinum in it gets a little more miles on it. Was thinking about dropping the oil and putting fresh motorcraft synthetic blend and new filter and running that till 5000 then going synthetic

    One has to wonder if engineers ever talk to the servicing side of the same manufacturing company, that drain plug angle and location and the oil fill, that is some impressive LOL, but the good thing with your Tremor is the great clearance to get under and do such service work without messing with ramps or trying to jack up the vehicle. On the topic of the K&N air filter, after having used one on a vehicle I personally would not recommend going with one, I don't believe they filter out the fine particles as well as a good quality throw away filter ( and that has been proven by tests I have read ) and also with the MAP sensor its possible that the filter oil can get onto that sensor and that is not desirable as that would mess with the proper engine fuelling. Win on one end with filter cost but possibly loose more in the long run ( that is my my stance on it ).
