Roman UrsuHack just a suggestion, but I think that a much finer sand/baking soda will work better. Great idea on that diy sand blaster.

If blasting off lead-based (or any) paint, it would be good to recommend both eye protection as well as respiratory equipment.

I see great potential in this with a 10 gallon capacity tank suspended from a tripod stand and a large feed line from the tank to the blast nozzle/gun. Having just recently using a traditional 10 gal sand pot, I know the frustration of inconsistent abrasive supply to the blast nozzle/gun. The pot located above the work allowing gravity to supply the abrasive material to the blast nozzle/gun is one of those simple but ingenious ideas. Anyone who has ever used an airbrush set up should have made the connection to material blasters.

The finer the sand you use the faster and more it will spray out at a time. Try using crushed granite it is very inexpensive and is what we actually use in our real blasting cabinets and doesn't give off the deadly toxins that silica sand does.

Interesting, but, a rotary paint removing scrub brush wheel on a drill works just as well or maybe better on that rusted tank or whatever it was. As far as making holes on the side of a soda can, why?

A sandblaster can be dangerous in the hands of a novice, and reading some of the comments I think there are a lot of them watching this video. If you do attempt this, make sure you have proper eye protection and a mask designed to filter sand particulate, and even though it's just sand, never spray towards anyone. You could hurt them.

Truly an elegant way to waste some time. Wire cup brush on a grinder for the paint and to destroy a can, well, same setup, put a 2000rpm cup brush on a 4.5'' grinder @ 12, 500 rpm and step back. And yes i am aware that commenting on something that is a waste of time....is a huge waste of time. If some1 has the time to do this, then remove all the paint from the metal panel, my guess is that they can't stand the woman who awaits them inside the house
