      What a pity it is not financially viable to import a Helix mattress to Brazil. Meanwhile, methinks that about your video my comment on it may go like this: «"Requiem for a Nun" [1951] is the source of one of [William] Faulkner's [1897-1962] best-known lines: "The past is never dead. It's not even past."» [From the Wikipedia namesake article on William Faulkner's play]. Okay, Faulkner and you, dear Zach, do not only agree on this matter but are both arguably correct. And thank you and Alastair for the beautiful and wonderful video perfectly demonstrating the point. And indeed there is also the very famous last line of F. Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby" [1925] that reads: « So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.»

    Zach I am a 70 year old gay man who stumbled across your videos. I don't think you realize it, you have already written your book. In fact you already filmed it: a love story. No gratuitous sex or violence or porn. A beautiful love story that everyone can identify and watch. I started binge watching them. That's when I realized how beautiful your love story was written. I am an English Major and a writer. Fill in the gaps; your movie is finished. God bless.

      My dear Zach, you were just like the rest of us. Dramatic, self absorbed, always on the lookout for a friend who wanted to play doctor. You are so serious and quite pleasing to look at. And you found your perfect soulmate, Alastair. He is someone so special that it boggles my mind and soul. As my partner has told me, finding your soulmate is just a matter of advertising your most positive attributes and reaching a large population of like minded guys. AND he said don’t ever worry about your looks. Tall or short, chunky or thin, fair or dark; no matter your looks, someone will find you appealing. You guys keep your love alive, and remain faithful to each other.
      Love you both,
      Respectfully,
      Wm Jon A., SRT, BSEE, MS, Ph.D.

    You and Alastair have such fascinating conversations while waiting at the Whataburger drive-through! I think there are ways that we change through time and other ways in which we don’t, and that’s OK. I know I’m a very different person from who I was 20 years ago, and he was a very different person from who I was 40 years ago. And yet I recognize myself in both of them.

    Thank you both for being so wide open in sharing your thoughts. This serves more folks that you can imagine. Being self-deprecating or modest in your self-assessment is a wonderful and valuable tool that we should all feel free to wield. Only the kindness of time softens how we see that reflection in the mirror and in that find the grace to ask others for forgiveness for what we haven't done & mercy for what we have done. The path to your future self is free and unburdened! 🙂

    I’ve watched your videos for years and I’ve never commented before but after watching this video, I’ve just got to say, whenever I watch you guys and hear you talk it always makes me think. Recently due to a change in career I’ve thought back on a past friendship that I ruined because I was too foolish to realize what she was saying about an ex what right, and I actually reached out to her to apologize for not listening to her and for literally never speaking to her again after she tried talking to me. I’ve cut people off many times since but never felt badly about it because it didn’t effect me as much as ruining that friendship did. So thank you

There is an authenticity and even intimacy about them that you just don’t find elsewhere. You talk about things that are important and that really matter in life. And your presentation and editing skills are downright artful. You should have 30 million subscribers IMHO, but I guess lots of folks don’t really watch UA-cam to look deep inside themselves!

    This is life. You may try to interpret it more compassionately or positively, but it's messy and incongruous and a roll of the dice regardless of your upbringing or circumstances. It can be inspirational or terrifying in this regard, but it is nonetheless true. If you can embrace the uncertainty, the messiness, and accept that rolling the dice is just as likely to lead you in the "right" direction as is a well-plotted and intellectually vetted plan, you have found the secret to life. Now all you have to do is completely accept the chaos of this realization and embrace it! All else is foolishness and reverberation.

    • @tomzandmicky8239
      @tomzandmicky8239 2 роки тому

      You make some interesting points which ring true to me. “Embracing the uncertainty”. I’m pretty sure I have never really done that. I always feel like I have to know, for sure, what’s coming and how can I control it. I always try for the safe way. But something else about this video has got me thinking about what Zach said about who he will be twenty years from now and how we change and I thought…some day, some change is likely to occur and Zach and Allister will move on with their lives and there won’t be any more UA-cam videos and we won’t know where or what they are up to or “how the story ends” and will we care? Or will they care? I used to follow this blog of this gay guy and when I would go to work I would immediately first thing in the morning Iwould log on and check in to see what all “my” bloggers were doing and eventually this guy (Tony) stopped blogging and this is at least five or six years ago and I still wonder what happened to him and what he’s doing and if he’s ok. Now I’m starting to sound a little pathetic. I can’t even imagine why I’m even saying this.

    Whatever your life brings you take solace in the fact that you are living it and not hiding from it. Many gay men don't have the courage to live their true lives but you do. For you there will be ups and downs, happies and sads, twists and turns and at the end of it all wisdom and inner contentment will be what you possess. Don't focus on the misses...only the hits.

    It’s always comforting to see you guys be so open and honest with each other. Marriage is really hard but when you realize you always have a friend to talk to it helps.
