I think you made the right choice, Ana. Not worth taking the risk. Hopefully the ones you separated will be ok and show no signs of mites. And a bonus you found another one at the store 😁 Keep us updated 👍🏻 Thanks for sharing with us as always. Have a wonderful day from Edith & myself 🌵☀️🌼🌸🌺🏜☕️
Thanks Daz! When I found the same aloe in the store, I was so tempted to just throw my old one away. But the planty side of me can’t bear throwing away good looking plants without giving them a chance. I’m stubborn I guess. Lol! I hope I did not make a great mistake.
Seems like Aloe mites are more horrible than mealybugs! Hopefully you can save those plants with the systemics. That would be very interesting to see the results. 💪🏼🌼🌸🌺💚
FANTASTIC and very informative video Ana, but so sorry you have had to deal with these Aloe mites, argh I hate plant beasties, but at least from your experience with these Aloe mites you are able to share your experience and make other growers aware of this pest, and well done on saving the pups, its always gutting having to throw out the Mother plants but you have definitely done the best thing, keep us updated on how they get on, and thanks so much for sharing with us, sending you lots of love and happiness and CAFFEINE and PLANT POWER from Hans and me from Ireland to Las Vegas for a fantastic Friday today XXXX
Oh, I hope you don’t experience this Lyn because you have such an awesome collection of aloes. I’m glad I get to show and tell my experience but I’m also annoyed that I got it in one of my aloes. Thank you Lyn. I will give updates on this aloe, definitely. Hoping for the best.
thank you for taking the time to explain in detail.. When I saw the flower on the aloe and you said that it was an mite infection I was like of $&!t...I've got a lot of those too.. Now I'll do what your doing with the systemic solution. I found it on amazon for $17.00 same product. Thank you thank you thank you. and good luck.
Oh no! I’m sorry it happened to you as well. Good luck. I’m glad you found a systemic miticide. I saw it on Amazon too but for some reason it would take 5-6 days to be delivered to my address. I needed something fast!
This happened to my Aloe Lizard Lips! I found it right after your last video! I’m so sad! 😞. On the hunt for a new Lizard Lips now. 😣. Thank you though for this information. I had no idea and it could of gotten all my other aloes. So grateful to this video 💕
Oh no, I’m sorry it happened to you as well. 😔 I’m closely watching my other aloes, too. I hope your other aloes will be fine. I would treat them as well for prevention.
I really hope you be able to save you plant I had exactly the same thing and one part I put bug spray and the other one I use something else both of them they doing really good I had Allo mate in Sahara Echeverría So far they doing good thank you for sharing
I would have done the same Ana☺️👌, although I haven't suffered this mites yet🙏. So happy for you to find a new specimen at a good cost!🤩 You're lucky! I also would have given an opportunity to the non apparently infected plants (good luck for them), cause I hate giving up on plants and animals 👏👏👏. Thank you for showing all the things to do and the systemic to use, just in case the mites arrive to my patio in the future with a new plant or flying insects. I will definitely research for the miticide here in Europe. Have a nice weekend 😘💞.
Thanks Vanessa. I hope you don’t get them, though. But it’s good to know these things ahead. If I hadn’t seen videos of aloe mites before, I would also think it is just a crest or something non-harmful.
Amazing to learn about this naughty little critter. Never heard of them before. Thoroughly enjoyed watching this video and learning from you. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. Have a wonderful day. 🌹
It is a good thing that I caught it early. Hoping I can still save the rest. I hope you don’t experience them at all. It is very worrisome knowing that they just float in the air. Thanks Amanda!
I've had an Aloe w/ mites all this time !!! and didn't know that's what it is !! As you mentioned , I also thought the Pup was mutating or cresting !! in some way! Ugh!!! I will have to check back on it . I cut the pup off the mother plant a propagated it! LOL, hahahaha ....Wow !!! Thank you so much for this Informational concern on Aloe Mites . In your research , can Aloe mites invade other types of Cacti , Succulents or is it ..it's own parasite ?
Oh no! I’m sorry it happened to your aloes, too. Hope you eliminate the beasties. I haven’t read anything about these aloe mite affecting other types of plants. Although Cactimania said some Haworthias and gasterias have been seen with the same pest (though not common). There are different kinds of mites that attack different types of plants. I am still learning more about this topic as well. 🙂 Check the comment of Morris Park here.
Never heard of this critter before and I hope I never have them! So sorry you lost one of your aloes. I wish you the best in recovery and thank you for sharing this information!
Great informative video. Just yesterday a friend gave me an Aloe Saponaria that I will put together with my other ones. I've never had that mite problem, but if it does happen in the future, now I know how to recognize it. Thanks Ana and good luck for your surviving pups 🌵✌
I had no idea Aloe Mites are airborne! Thank you for the nightmares, going to be buying Neem Max as soon as I can. 🤢 Thank you so much for this video! I hope your KeyLime pulls through and none of your other plants are affected.
I've heard about aloe mites from quite a few people. Just be super careful. Often times they can come back with a vengeance. I read an article online where a neighbor's aloes got mites from his neighbor who's plants had mites that he refused to treat or throw out. The mites carried over in the wind. They are so contagious. It's one of the things many people fear of getting on their aloes.
I don t have any experience with these, but it looks just the same as rose mites. These are very common here. They do the same kind of damage. The rose will produce distorted growth just like what you showed. This comes from the wild rose population that is so common here. I think as long as you can keep it separated from the rest, it will be a good experiment to see if the possibly unaffected IS unaffected. Or just hiding the mites for now. Hope for the best! We have a lot of different mites here. Spider, rose, oak. Oak mites are one that affects both plants and US!!! Yes they like to feed on us too! They cause skin rash by injecting us with venom to liquefy our skin and feed from it!! Chiggers are another mites that does the same ! I have had personal experience with these as well as everyone that lives in the country of the Ozarks. Tall grass & weeds should be avoided unless you are covered in repellent. The woods are another place to get them too. If I have to cut wood during warm weather , I spray down!!! They especially like soft sensitive areas of the body! Under arms, around the waist , bends of the legs and.... well, those other places too! Complete misery!! They feed on plants in the larvel stage, then catch a ride on animals and us. So we know how plants feel first hand!!! We also have harmless scavenger mites that just scour rocks and concrete , or most surfaces . A lot of people mistake these for chiggers. But they are much larger and harmless. Good luck with the keylime!! Thanks for sharing this!! From Morris Park in the Ozarks, out to Las Vegas, have a wonderful evening!!! Peace, Love, Plants!!! ✌💖🌵🏵🌴🌺🪴🌹🌲🌷🌳😃👍
Oh my gosh! These mites are terrible and in my opinion underrated as to the damage that they cause. That is disturbing to hear about some mites affecting plants, animals AND humans too. 😮 Thank you for all these added information, Clyde. I wish that spray repellant can also be used on plants. Haha 😁 That would be helpful!
Mites and spiders are both arachnids, but mites aren't spiders. Other arachnids that aren't spiders include ticks, scorpions, pseudoscorpions and harvestmen (daddy longlegs).
@@CactusCaffeine Thanks for your answer! I'm a nurse and a lot of times we have to change gloves during a procedure to remain sterile, so I was wondering.
I have a very difficult time throwing away most succulents. They strive to live or give life and that is what I like about many of them. I especially like several types of Aloe. Now I am horrified of the thought that my Aloes could get that terrible mite!! All new plants go into isolation! How do these things infect a Aloe if they are not from the area?

wow, thanks for sharing this sis...
Nice report, Ana. I give you credit for willingness to try to take care of your children. Thanks for your time.
Thanks Bill! Hoping for the best but whatever outcome is, it will be a good learning experience for me.
Sending good carma your way. My gf is a philipina so your a kind hearted woman like she is. Hoping your cacti are all doing well.

I literally just discovered one i have has it. I’m super sad.
@garrettfuller3716 I hope you get rid of it soon before it infects your other aloes.
@@CactusCaffeine I had been hoping not to but I recognize it’s pretty much all that can be done.

The Bonide systemic that you are almost out of is granules that you mix into the medium and water in.
I have not seen this brand of miticide come in granules form. Mine is liquid. 🙂

Do you have an update video on this? Did the Aloe survive? What happened? So curious....lol
Do you need to change gloves between handling the infected plant and the pups you think are healthy?
If you are dealing with aloe mites, then yes that is the ideal thing to do. ☺️

any update on this? was the aloe saved?
So far the aloe is still alive. Very shriveled but alive and no signs of aloe mites 🤞🏼
what was the outcome?
Happy to say the aloe I treated survived! I’m still watching it closely to make sure no aloe mite traces show up again.
Can you give update on your aloe please 😢
update?
