      24 x 365 x 17 = 148920
      If Donk has 14k hrs he’s literally spent 10% of his life up to this point playing CS.
      This is not including: sleep, eating, school, the first 3 years of your life where you can’t really do much yet (I was going to say 4 but if I remember there’s a clip of 4year old donk playing CS?)
      If we remove say 6hrs of the day for sleep (probably average 7 but this is just a fun calculation)
      Remove 3 years from when he couldn’t do much besides eat shit cry walk
      18 x 365 x 14 = 91980
      15% of the time he was awake from since he was 3 years old to now, he’s on CS…

    I think there are a couple more. First off he comes in out of nowhere (only been playing Tier 3ish CS so far) and absolutely runs over teams and has the best Tier 1 Stats on par with mouse sports ultra carry Niko. Which makes his performance even more incredible given that he isn't playing with a bunch noobs. Shiro Chopper and Magixx are known quantities and yet he still stands above everyone.
    Also just in general with MR12 I think we saw a nerf across the board to AWPers due to there being way less full gun rounds where your team has an AWP or you have to go up against a opponent with one. It just helps a lot that donk doesn't need to spend at least 6K to play the way he wants to play.

    I remember this channel and others taught me not to crouch in CSGO. It was one of the only pieces of advice I didn’t understand about the pros. I had been crouching from previous games (any that give advantage to recoil and confuse opponents) and it was working for me up to global elite levels. It was the one thing I never agreed with the pros about. I just didn’t think people understood the crouching meta or why it’s competitive when done with randomness. I’m glad to see this being shaken up because imo it was always a half baked conclusion to not crouch. -it’s not that simple. There’s deception and mind games at the highest level and I feel like people who concluded not to crouch never considered mind games as the most elite form of competition rather than sheer aim speed.

    • @sentryion3106
      @sentryion3106 2 місяці тому +23

      It’s a bad habit because it messes with your aim. That’s why he never recommend it in his videos because they are meant for beginners.
      You are right pros crouch all the time. Donk is the one that use crouch in a completely different field though.

    • @MythicTF2
      @MythicTF2 2 місяці тому +21

      The advice given to not crouch is mainly for newer/intermediate players. Crouching can easily screw up your aim and cost you a headshot at the lower levels of play. It's recommended against it because it also makes you an easier target if you're not quickly killing the enemy player because you're a lower level player. In the higher level where surviving for an extra 200 ms because you crouched makes a difference it's good though, as long as you know how to compensate your aim accordingly.
      Donk also rarely seems to hold crouch while spraying, instead seeming to use his crouch key as a counter-strafe to stop his momentum really quickly, then uncrouching while shooting.

    • @AdeptSnake
      @AdeptSnake 2 місяці тому +3

      I don't think the general consensus was don't crouch. It's that beginners shouldn't crouch because in low ELO play most players aim chest height instead of always having good pre-aim for the head. So, if you crouch in low-mid ELO play you're most likely crouching into a headshot and getting yourself killed faster. Against good players that often pre-aim head height, crouching can throw them off.

    I"d assume a large part of his success so far comes from his playstyle being very counter to what people are used to. Counterstrike at high level typically plays in a predictable way, there's strats, positions, you play a certain way and playing outside those rules doesn't usually end well.
    But if you've got the talent and a good team behind you, having that unique playstyle throws people off because there isn't a clear and practiced answer to it. If someone does a "normal" play or strat, there's a typical and practiced response to it. But if you're playing in a way that defies those conventions and have the skill to back it up, other players can't rely purely on practiced manouevers and have to answer to you on the fly, which seems to be Dock's biggest strength.

    I definitely agree - high energy and the expectation and preparedness that the enemy could be anywhere makes a huge difference. You have to go into every space on a map expecting to see an enemy. That allows you to be fully alert and prepared when an enemy does show up. And not just keeping the pace but also knowing when to not overreact from pressure is also important and comes with a lot of time and experience.

You can tell that he just almost never leaves focus and I bet if we i were to see his camera footage that that is exactly what it looks like. He is fully in tune with the game, and on top of that is also just mechanically trained enough to control himself however he pleases.
    Thank you for reading, but i have to admit i might have hit a donk before writing :) Also hi brent if you see this, you're like one of the only cs tubers i still watch because you keep it fun for someone even if they haven't played in a few years
    Edit: your name was Brent, right? did I forget? I mean Mr.TheWarOwl himself here of course 😅

    He's good but his impatience is going to be easy to exploit when someone with equal aim is on the other team. The bold peeking is a recipe for getting shutdown on longer angles and once teams adapt, he'll have to change a lot about his playstyle. But based on how good he is with a rifle... I doubt it will be a big leap for him.

    • @pagatryx5451
      @pagatryx5451 2 місяці тому +2

      That's the thing. The playstyles of other players are well and truly tested and, even if known about, continue to work. I think it's far too early to say if donk will actually stand the test of time once players adapt to how he plays and knows what to expect.

    • @7opher619
      @7opher619 2 місяці тому +19

      If you think donk is impatient then you aren't watching him. An impatient person doesn't jump peak bathrooms from sign for half a round only to press forward when a smoke lands.
      Donk has a reaction time that is somewhere around 150ms on average. He doesn't let him self "sit still" imo because he knows when he does he is less focused and therefore less responsive and less accurate. It takes a lot of energy to play the way Donk does. Especially while remaining in tune with his team and remaining so damn accurate.

      He's good, but other players will learn to adapt to his playstyle and exploit it, as teams did with s1mple. Good IGLS will for sure plan this. They will pre-nade his positions, smoke him out and make his life more miserable. But I'm watching this with a keen eye, it's for sure interesting.

    • @philliplewis1586
      @philliplewis1586 2 місяці тому +1

      Actively avoiding getting headshot is not unique to Valorant, but the movement punishment for spamming crouch in CS has made it a suboptimal strategy in the past. For whatever reason, it seems to be a more viable option in CS2 and donk uses it very effectively. Peek, crouch to get off of head level, uncrouch to avoid the enemy's adjustment to crouching head level, and keep the spray going while doing both motions. Donk also has an absolutely insane ability to get a kill within the first 5-7 bullets VERY consistently, which means that as long as he can avoid getting headshot for a full second, he usually wins the duel.

    Could you please point out the damn cheating problem? Valve obviously only listens to you and 3Click, some other known names have tried to call out Valve without success, and Valve stay silent.. Obviously Valve listens to only you WarOwl and 3clickPhilip, since often when you, specially 3klikphillip points out map errors etc, its corrected in the next patch. Therefore, you guys are a shortcut to get Valve to pull out their slow a$$ fingers. But both of you are 100% silent around these issues...! And only comes up with small none important things. Once you pointed out for the better for the community, now you just talk about pretty much nothing. This lack of a propper anti-cheat is killing our game. and even the Major open qualification was infected by teams using cheats. Sparkles pointed this out as well as other, but those Valves listens to, WarOwl and 3Klick, they stayed silent, not a tweet, not one word.. Valve MUST come up with a proper solution ASAP or give up and hire a team that can. The game need proper anti-cheat and proper HARDWARE BAN. The major also need to stop allowing private hardware like mouse and keyboard where cheat easily can be installed on, and Valves garbage anti-cheat do not even check the hardware for so-called input-hacks
    Its the same regarding:
    1. High pingers peek advantage.
    2. The lack of maps. cs1.6 had 18-20 maps, and cs2 have SEVEN.... Its getting boring.
    3. The garbage sub-tick system
    4. Ranking system that is infiltrated by cheaters.
    This is all killing our game, it is killing the prices of the skins.
    This is NOT good for the community!
    Stop keep being silent about the problems..

    I hope is refreshing playstyle keeps working once the other players know it better. A few years ago there was young wrestler (Enho Yuya) in the highest division of sumo wrestling in Japan. He was a head shorter and half the weight of all other sumo wrestlers in his division, but he managed to get to a quite high rank, because his technique was very good and he used is agility to his advantage. But after a few turnaments, the other wrestlers figured out how to counter his strategy (1. not going in agressive, so that he can not use your own momentum against yourself, and 2. try to grab him and just lift or push him out) he dropped out of the first division rather quickly.

    You just gotta love the Counter-Strike Community (and online gaming culture in general). I saw people play slightly more flexible that the rigid structures ya boomer had for years, and they get yelled at over and over again on voice.
    Buy the scoped rifles -> get yelled at, Vavle has to force their use by making them cheaper just so that people accept them as viable, now they went back to og and are still used.
    not just hold angles the established way -> you would get so cursed out in games if that goes wrong, even if it goes well 4 of 5 times. Now that a pro does it, it's tactical.
    I also think that if people were less judgey, more varied tactics and skills would emerge, but if 99,9% of people who think outside the box get bullied out of the game, you get a stale meta, and Counter-Strike is the master of stale meta. That's how you all like it. :D

    I could relate a lot of this to learning guitar. I always asked myself what was my end goal with guitar, if it was to become a malmsteen or a petruci or something. However, i know that in order to become someone like that, u have to be, like u said, young and obsessed, two things that i am not. Its a realization that I must come to, eventually.
