Today I am sharing with you on how you can troubleshoot and fix a Misfire on your Mercedes - Some Check engine codes that apply are (P0300 P0301 P0302 P0303 P0304 P0305 P0306 P0307 P0308)
in case anyone is confused, this is the 8 cylinder m273 so if you have the 6 cylinder m272 then your cylnder sequence is a little different and the one closest to the front of the engine on the driver side is actually cylinder 4... not 5. hope this helps someone, cheers.
I found that the plug gap increases with use. Mercedes specs .031" and I measured twice that. Remove all the plugs, clean the threads and bend the ground electrode till you get .031". If you do this every 20000 miles or so, you will save the coils. Also, use electronic contact cleaner on the coil connector. I had no bad coils after doing this.
I have a Mercedes Benz 1998 ml320 I had a mechanic tell me my electrical plugs to the engine need to be swapped out what does that mean & can I apply this method
Very informative. Thanks!. For a 2006 Ml350, I have a misfire in #3. Replaced all six plugs, swapped ignition coils to no avail, and replaced fuel injector. Misfiring remains in #3. What else could be the problem?
I have a mercedes 2007 cls 550. The computer said it was P0305 cylinder 5 misfire ... so should I change the coil or just the spark plug? Or both im not a mechanic but it looks like a simple fix. Please help
Hi Rafael. I would first just swap coil just as I did in the video and try. If that doesn’t work then change the spark plug. I have a video on how to change spark plugs that is going to be uploaded in the next couple hours. So be on the look out for that. Let me know how it goes
@@MrCARman yea I changed the coil and spark plug the check engine light turned off after a few miles I drove the car. Thanks for the video I saved myself money and didnt have to take it to a Mechanic
What if all 8 coil packs were just replaced and this code is there? Wiring all looks good. Spark plugs were all swapped too. Plugs and coilpacks are all NGK
Any mercedes guys know the cylinder order of a 2004 ml500? My first mercedes. Ive heard passenger side front to back is 1-4 and drivers side 5-8 but also heard it alternates passenger to driver to passenger to driver. Thanks guys. I have a misfire in 1 and 3 so trying to find those
The p0300, p0301, p0303 and p0141 are pretty easy codes to troubleshoot and fix. The p061b is going to be tricky and I would get a mechanic for that. I wouldn’t advise going to the dealership because even changing one $20 coil pack, they are going to charge u 4x-6x more for the work
Swapping a oil with high resistance, and not an open coil could damage the computer on two cylinders by swapping it. Luckily, the coil was completely open. Coils have built in 4 ohm resistors that fail and blow the coil.
I would first use a syringe to suck out the oil in there, replace spark plug and drive around and check back in a couple days. If there is oil again then the gasket is going bad. Which will need to be replaced.
Hi Florencio, wish the best of luck and hope it fixes your problem Please let me know how it goes. Thank you for liking, sharing and subscribing, really appreciate it!!
That was going to be my next suggestion. It’s just uncommon for these engines to end up having low compression.. unless the engine wasn’t taken care of over the years
@@MrCARman oil change was every 5k miles , only Premium gas used and replaced a lot of parts that I could do. 10 years ago put a newer transmission in . I don’t know what else I could’ve done?
Mr.carman, I have replaced all my coils and spark plugs and I am still getting DTC of P0305 Misifiring of cylinder: worsening of exhaust emission values . What is that ?
MrCarMAN , alittle background on my car. I had a p0303 code when I was at my mechanic last week and he took out coil & plug to check them. He then took the coil he just took at and put it into clyinder #2.. a week later I get p0305 code . On my scanner it says the code is stored. Along with another stored code of p0300.
P0300 is going to come along side with any cylinder misfire (most of the time) but I hope u have the engine diagram for ur particular engine because some engine cylinders are not counted 1 2 3 4. One side might be 1 3 5 7 for example.

this video is fine but my question is, whats the fireing order I'm haveing the same thing but its on #3 which one is #3?
I have a Mercedes Benz 1998 ml320 I had a mechanic tell me my electrical plugs to the engine need to be swapped out what does that mean & can I apply this method
So, you pulled coil 4, swapped it to 5 then got a cylinder 6 misfire?
Hey Brother I changed the coil and still have the same issue ,,, how to check the wiring plz

Wiring and or bad ECM
Could also be loss of compression on that particular cylinder
How did your car drive with the bad coil ?
Slow acceleration, stuttering, shaking at idle

I have misfire in cylinder 4, 5, 6, basically p0300, p0304, p0305, p0306. Is it possible for all 3 to go bad same time?
Astounding job dude seriously

Hi I am getting that problem and engine light on, on my 2014 cla 250 4matic. How much would it cost me if I bring it to dealership to get it fix?
What codes are you getting??
MrCarMAN p0141, p0300-85, p0301-85, p0303-85, p061b-00

Will this work for a GL 450 2104?
Hi, yes it works on the 2014 gl450

What if the cylinder area by spark plug has oil flood??

Awesome, I’m gonna check my cylinder 3 hopefully is as simple as that 👌🏾

How to use the diagnostic tool.
You just read codes with any obd2 scanner and it will give you the codes for the engine
@@MrCARman Does the scanner tell you if it is the spark plug or the coil?
No it doesn’t. That’s why you have to troubleshoot the problem
how much is it to replace the coil ? also how much is it to replace the spark plug?
Coils are around $65 each and plugs can run $10 or more each.
Does this work on 350 v6 Mercedes car?
Yes this method also works on the 350 models as well
I have a A170 4 silinder, I replaced Coyle pack, plug wire and plug. And still have a misfire
Replaced all plugs and coils and still P0305 pops up
You might want to check your fuel injectors as well as clean your MAF sensor
@@MrCARman MAF is New , Cleaned Injectors and brought to a mechanic who performed the Compression and leak test. He says I need a new Engine
That was going to be my next suggestion. It’s just uncommon for these engines to end up having low compression.. unless the engine wasn’t taken care of over the years

Mr.carman, I have replaced all my coils and spark plugs and I am still getting DTC of P0305 Misifiring of cylinder: worsening of exhaust emission values . What is that ?
Hi, sorry for the late reply. But if changing the spark plugs and coils didn’t work then it might be your MAF sensor. Have u tried cleaning that?
MAF also brand new... installed when plugs n coils were done. They aren’t more than 3 months old.
I would check that 5th cylinder and see if there is excessive oil when u take out the plug
MrCarMAN , alittle background on my car. I had a p0303 code when I was at my mechanic last week and he took out coil & plug to check them.
