Okay, wow. I’ve watched hundreds of soap-making vids. This is the most intentional, explanatory, comprehensive one yet!!! From the words on the screen explaining every ingredient and step, to the description box, to video quality. You’ve done it all here. Applause 👏
Love the simplicity of your videos. You have a way of pulling us in. And thank you for your hard work and all the knowledge you share. I love how open you are.
I have been making soap since 2017 which started as a hobby. I love how you explain everything and are transparent. Not only are your videos relaxing to watch but they are educational as well. I cannot wait to make one of your recipes. Keep up the good work.
Dear Sara, today, I prepared this soap based on your video. I prepared some of your recipes, and all the soaps are lovely. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us! Can't wait for the six weeks curing time to pass so I can have a bath with this soap.
Thank you so much. This is one of my best soap videos I have seen in a long run. Others do not explain every process or give measurement. Thank you. I really do appreciate.
I have to say You inspired me ❤ I'm so happy and bless that I found you. I'm a beginner soap maker and because of you I'm soaping like a pro.🎉❤❤❤❤❤ thank you
I have always loved your videos so decided to try this followed all measurements and within 30 seconds of pouring the lye water into the oils I had soap on a stick. I spent almost 5 mins pushing it in the mold in hopes of it being solid and not holy and ugly. It is now in the gel stage so hopefully it comes out better than it went in.
I did end up rebatching it as it was so full of holes and seemed to be lye heavy. It’s been 8 weeks drying and it did turn out to be a very good bar of soap. I’ll try the recipe again.
And ANOTHER gorgeously produced video, Sara. My favorite part is that you actually go to the trouble to show how it lathers. I wish more would take after your lead. Beautiful work!
Sarah as always a wonderful , relaxing and inspiring video to watch, I almost hate it when it comes to an end LOL! For me 28% Coconut oil would be too drying for my dry man's skin ,but do you find the coconut cream offsets that problem? or was it a high SF? Glad its not only me that forget to add something sometimes! Thank you as always and please keep them coming.
That is so nice of you, thank you so much🤗 Personally, I don’t have a problem with coconut oil. The coconut cream does up the superfat (from 5% originally) so it does make the soap more gentle and less drying. Hehe for sure😄
you could always lower the percentage of coconut oil and increase the percentage of one of the other oils (I'd go with shea since it's a solid oil like coconut and is very moisturizing), and/or increase the superfat. of course if you do this, you have to run it thru a soap calc to get the new lye amount
Thanks for your videos. I enjoy getting simple and detailed recipes and tutorials . Yet it’s peaceful and quiet. You speak with out speaking thanks so much 😊😊👏🏼
Thank you so so much for the recipe and I love watching your videos so relaxing . I've ordered the Soap formulated workbook pdf with lots of good information and great recipes. Love it thank you again for everything
Everyone that asked about citric acid: Citric Acid works by exfoliating the upper layer of dead skin cells to help clean pores, even skin tone and soften and smooth the skin.
I need to get back to soap making. The last time was disasterous, too much lye and a bad reaction with my asthma. I need to put all the equipment together and start again, this time outside. A success will help me feel good and get rid of a freezer full of collected fats. Thanks for the inspiration.
I hope you are still answering questions. The video shows 240g of olive oil, the recipe below the video shows 192g of infused olive oil. Which one do I use 240g or 192g? I LOVE, LOVE your video. So professional and tranquil. Thank you for sharing. I will be 71 and I can't wait to try making this.
Great video, thank you for sharing. Does the citric acid help with the resistance of the soap? I don't want to use palm oil but find that almost every soap without it has a lot of resistance on the first couple of uses, and I personally haven't found a perfect replacement for palm oil but any suggestions are welcomed. Thank you!
Some say citric acid lovers the ph of the soap others say it doesn't, it will however consume a bit of the lye so the soap will have a higher superfat and feel more gentle compared to the same recipe without citric acid. Citric acid reduces soap scum and makes the soap better to use if you have hard tap water. I never used palm oil myself so I can't really help with that, babassu is the closest but that comes from an other palm grown in the same region as regular palm oil so I think it might not be good to use either. Lard or tallow is supposed to be close too, but are ofc animal products and not everyone would like to use that.
I'm not sure, I haven't really had that problem. Maybe you need to up the amount of oils that are high in palmitic acid. Cocoa butter is quite high in palmitic as well as animal fats as @awa rose said. Some soft oils like rice bran oil and avocado oil are also relatively high in palmitic acid😊
Great video, lots of good information, amazing recipe (no wonder is your favorite), 204 positive comments and only one hater, you are doing amazing, congrats!!! 👏👏
This looks awesome! Does the Olive Oil need to be infused with Alkanet Root? If not, does the recipe amount need to be adjusted? Also, if I wanted to add colour mica, at what stage would I add the colourants and/or fragrances in? Thank you
Thank you! No that's just an extra step I tried for fun😊 The recipe is listed in the description box and can be used as is, colors and fragrances can be added at trace!
Thank you so much😊 If you want a natural purple, maybe brazilian purple clay? But it can of course be left out or substituted with any color that you like!
Great video, i love your soap recipes 😊 I wonder if i can replace Citric Acid for Lactic Acid/Ascorbic Acid, or will it not work? Thank you so much. Saludos desde España 🇪🇸

What a lovely video! Do you have someone filming you or do you move the camera to different locations? Some people say that soap made with tallow lasts longer and is more luxurious than oil soaps. Do you know if that is true? I've never made soap but would like to try.
Thank you so much! It's just me so I move the camera to different locations🙂 I think it depends but you can achieve pretty similar results with butters that have similar fatty acid profiles
Hi! I am also getting making soap (for shaving), and made some already back in St Petersburg. I moved to Helsinki and have no idea, where I can get the chemicals (NaOH and KOH), as well as oils. Could you okease recommend me sources in Finland? Thanks in advance and keep up the great work!
