    🌿Citric acid information:
When citric acid and sodium hydroxide lye (NaOH) are combined, sodium citrate is created. Sodium citrate works as a chelator in soap.
A chelator traps metal ions such as calcium and magnesium that can be found in tap water.
These metal contaminants can cause rancidity and soap scum in handmade soap.
A chelator binds to these metals so that they can’t bind to the soap molecules. This way the soap won’t react with them and the soap's lather improves + shelf life increases.
Citric acid does not lower the pH of soap. Instead it consumes some of the lye and increases the superfat. Add 6 g extra lye for every 10 g of citric acid added to a soap recipe if you want to keep the superfat % at the same level.
How much citric acid should be added to soap?
Usage rate in bar soap is 1-2% of the oil weight.
    How to use citric acid
Add citric acid to the distilled water and dissolve completely before adding the lye, or make a separate solution of citric acid and distilled water and add to the oils.

Thanks to your inspiration, I made my first batch of soap. It was just the very basic beginner cold pressed recipe. Tallow, olive oil and coconut oil. Then mixed lye into water. I was quite surprised on how hot the water lye mixture reached. I did add a very little cedarwood and geranium essential oil. I'm not into overwhelming scents. It smells so clean. I can wait to try it out. It's been curing for 2 weeks now. Thank you. 🌻👋 Love your channel.

Did you have some left over that you just didn’t use, or did the amount of oil you got go down because of waste when you strained the oil out? Sorry, such a specific question I know 😅

I have a question about the mitre box and soap cutter you use, i went on Cafe de Savon website it's really hard to navigate the language is written in Japanese i kept scrolling on Google until i happened upon both tools unfortunately the only option for payment is through Amazon Pay after creating a separate account i found out that option is not available outside of the US so having explained my dilemma do you have another vendor to suggest where i can purchase the above mentioned items? I will await your response. Enjoy the rest of your day!!😊
